PRINCESS Palooza 2011! 9/9 Update: Departure Day

Once again, I love all your photos! I have to say... if you think your Osborne Lights photos aren't great, well, you should see mine! :rotfl:

Again! Great shots as usual! I definitely understand what you mean about Sci-Fi food. I would love to go back for the atmosphere, but when we ate there, I saw nothing I liked, and just asked if I could have a grilled cheese & salad. Osbourne lights is something I really want to see in person. I'd love to take an actual trip down at christmas to have some time to really explore everything!

LOL! And many thanks! :goodvibes

I think mostly I want to break a little new ground each trip. I felt like I mostly just did the same photos I took last time. And I'm not sure just how to go about breaking new ground at Osborne, unless I can get there when there's less people. And staying until close never seems to go well for me! :rotfl:

Osborne might be a real challenge for me photographically.... but it never disappoints in person. Maybe my frustration is in trying to capture that feeling of being there, and that's hard.

I just told Katie this morning that maybe next time we'd just make an ADR at Sci-Fi for shakes only. Then try something else. I really want to try some new stuff. Just not sure where that will be! We did finally do 50's Prime Time this time, so don't feel the drive to have to go back. I would but Katie wasn't sold. I think that appeals more to adults who understand the nostalgia. I'd still like to do Brown Derby but hate to use 2 dining credits on it.

Loving your report neighbor! Anytime you want a girls trip let me know! We can send our daughters off to play on rides and we can play dueling cameras!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks!

And boy would I love to sneak away on a girls only trip! I'm just not sure when I'll talk anyone into that around here....The dueling cameras sound awesome. Although it would be FAR more fun if you'd ditch that Nikon and go Canon so we could swap lenses...... :duck:

I love the Osborne light pictures!!! You did a darn good job. I can't wait to see them for myself.
I'm not big LMA fan.....it was too slow moving for me, but Skip loves it, so I guess I'll suffer through it again if he ever wants to go. It had Herbie when we saw it a few years ago as well.
I saw lightroom on sale on buy.com the other day too...I think it was $99 there.

Thanks Jen! I've seen the Osborne lights 3 times now and am just blown away every time. I can't wait to see how your plans shake out.

The best part of the show is when they dance. The most frustrating part of photographing the show..... is when they dance! :dance3: It really addes an extra layer of challenge, especially if you have anyone along not as into the photography as yourself

It's funny, but DHS was a totally different day for us with Drew along. I was really glad to have a second day later in the week to do the things we missed. But yeah, we never would have done Indy or LMA if Drew wasn't there. He loves Disney too, but for totally different things.

Someone else posted they saw LR3 for $90 somewhere else, maybe even $80??? I lost track. Makes me think maybe they're getting ready for LR4. I don't like upgrading though, so I'll be happy with what I have. I HATE learning things all over again. There just aren't enough hours in the day. I usually have to be dragged along kicking and screaming. I like knowing how to use something and not having to go in search of answers constantly. But then you know that from our Office 2007 discussions, don't you!

I was thinking it would be a character meal with Beauty and the Beast characters, but now I don't. I guess with the princesses over at CRT they probably won't do that. I get the impression there will be enchanting elements of some sort, but not actual characters. I'm very curious to see just what it will be. Maybe something like Jen described at Animator's Palate on the Dream?

I did just see a post on the Fantasyland Expansion thread where someone says they have a reliable source who says the BatB and LM stuff might be open in October.

They say the ADR's for Be Our Guest probably won't open up until it hits soft opening. Which makes sense since they don't want to take a chance on missing a promised ADR date. And it's not like they'll have trouble filling them even at the last minute. I just hope it's not a signature place requiring 2 credits. Regardless, we'll still try it if we can get in.

I AM concerned that if the new stuff is open, they might not be as prone to offering free dining like they have done the last few years in Oct, Nov and Dec.

I'm a little hmmmmm on the new castle. Granted I've only been to the world twice and the first time I hardly remember it, but I just feel like with the opening of another castle, part of the magic of Cinderellas castle and just how it is often the first thing people think of when they think of WDW is gone. Its such an Icon of WDW and i feel like it won't be as special with two castles.

Another great round of shots. I have to say that the Osbourne Lights photos came out great.

One thing I couldn't get over was your family and daughter wearing shorts and flip flops. Oh the joys of Christmas in Florida.

I really don't think Cindy's will lose it's place of honor. The Beast's castle seems to me to be more of a "decoration" since it's so much smaller in scale. We'll see. But then my philosophy is... if one castle is good, then 2 (actually 3 with Eric's castle) is 3 times better, right?

Thanks Mike! I was actually surprised with how hot it got on some days. But mostly it was absolutely perfect. Well, except for that rain. We'll get to that soon.........

I have Adobe Elements 9. I really don't find it easy to use or very user friendly :( I havent really had the time to learn it either tho and that is part of the problem. I need something that is very user friendly and pretty blatantly obvious for me having no time. I've been told Lightroom is more user friendly?

I was SOOOO excited to see an update! Thanks for making my Monday, I needed that :thumbsup2

What a sweet thing to say. :) I'm glad it helped make Monday a little better!

I already said how I hate new programs, and only add them if I have a compelling need......... is this where I admit I have Adobe Elements 2.0 on my computer? :teeth: I use it every now and then for really quick crops and such on JPEG's. It doesn't edit RAW, so that's what first got me to add LR3 for. I'll probably upgrade to PSE9 or 10 when I find a deal.

But here's my take on LR3..... if you edit RAW photos, it's a must. I find it to be very user friendly. I did buy Scott Kelby's book on LR3 as a handy reference with lots of photos, and I can usually figure out what I need to pretty quickly.

I can't remember now, but can you edit jpegs in LR3?

You can. You just need to import the image into LR3 first. Most who use LR use it to catalog all of their images too. I have not done so yet. I probably should, but need to learn the ins and outs better. I like my current organization and as I've said...... I'm change averse.

Do you mean adobe 2 doesn't do RAW or all adobes don't do raw? I was thinking I would soot in raw in July, but if adobe won't edit raw than I guess that solves that problem. I have adobe elements 9

I'm pretty change adverse too. You can use adobe for organizing and labeling etc.... I'm old fashioned. I like my folders inside folders inside folders :rotfl:

It appears that they added the RAW feature in elements 3.0. So you should be fine.

I wouldn't have it any other way! :lmao:

Actually, I just have so many balls in the air in any given day that the thought of changing up even one thing makes me cringe. I have forced myself to learn additional tidbits about LR3 in very small doses though. Like one day saying "I'm going to learn to straighten my horizon in LR3 today". That only took a few moments. Then I'd say "Today I'm going to learn to make spot fixes on LR3". Turns out that didn't take long either. So as a need arises, I'm trying to make myself go find the answers, rather than sitting down for long periods of time learning all of it. I'm trying to eat the elephant one bite at a time.

My entire catalog system though?????? Major cringe factor.

Tried to comment yesterday and post got eaten!

Okay first off, lovely pictures as always. The Osborne lights are beautiful. But what I'm really impressed with are the LMA shots.... looks like you have some panning skills! Tough to do and you did a great job.

Also, your TR is dangerous! It makes me want to go back (already)!

Thanks Nicole! I did a lot of practice with my panning at my son's track meets last year. I really would like to see LMA one more time just to give that another try. It doesn't look like he's running any more, so I'll have to head back to Disney for my practice. Wanna come?????
