Wow what a fabulous day! I'm worn out just reading about it. The dresses are all just fabulous. The photos you got are sooo great. It's really neat that the character know you as well as the handlers. The character interaction is so much fun. I hope Katie never tires of meeting the characters.

Thanks Vanessa. 16 hours in the MK. It really was a day, wasn't it? I'm tired just thinking about it. Yet here I sit planning to do pretty much the same again this year!

oh my goodness! Great shots! I never took my tripod out of my suitcase the last trip, and I haven't taken it into a park since 2007. I really need to try again. You're definitely making me want to with your awesome shots.

Thanks! It really does take some effort to mess with the tripod in the parks. But I'm always glad I did. I really wish I had time to take more tripod shots beyond the firewoks shots. Maybe one day. Probably not soon though. The camera is my "focus" for really limited times (parades, shows, fireworks). But the rest of the time I use it more like a nice point and shoot so I can concentrate on other things.

I just finished a pair of costumes for the girl to wear to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique this December.

Anyone wanna guess? Or did I say already what they were wearing? I do lose track you know......

The fireworks shots are so fabulous. And you have the best Memories show pics I have ever seen. I guess I should really consider dragging mr tripod to the park one day.

So, I just a rumor (which I'm typically the last to hear such things!) but in 2013 all the princesses are due for a "Makeover" with new dresses and hairstyles!

Thanks Jen. I usually have a gown or two that just "speaks" to me. This time it was probably the Christmas Mary Poppins or yellow Belle.

There won't be that many this year, but Cindy could get my vote.

I was happy with a number of the Magic, Memories and You shots. But I still don't feel like I've mastered it. To get the nice black sky it requires a tripod, lower ISO and longer shutter speed. But so many of those effects change out so quickly, it sort of muddles the shot. It's hard to get the timing just right.

It's Katie's first day of Middle School. Well, sort of. It's actually orientation, so she'll get on the bus and actually go to school for a couple hours. It starts for real on Wednesday.

I thought of you right away! Too bad you can call them and give them some ideas!

Now, of course, I am going to go look at the Disney Store online and see what they have online!

LOL, I'd LOVE to help! But alas, I'm still waiting for the phone to ring........

I LOVE the deluxe Cinderella costume the Disney Store has right now. And I do think it's modeled after the style Cindy they are moving to. It won't fit Katie, so all I can do is admire it from afar........

That's exactly the response I had when I saw Cindy's new do. But you know what? Katie LOVED it. Go figure.

And as for BBB......... Katie and her friend are going as pink and blue Cindy. I actually just finished Katie's new blue Cindy so I'll post a picture when I get it uploaded.

You can click on any of my photos and it will take you to the photo on Flickr. Once there, you can click on "Actions" and select "view Exif info" and see exactly what my settings were.

As I said, I'm still feeling my way through photographing the Magic, Memories and You show. It looks like I opted for a higher ISO so I could get a faster shutter speed this time. On the fireworks shots, I went down to 100 ISO so I could get a longer shutter speed.

Being able to easily access Exif info is one of my favorite things about Flickr!

Fab.U.lous. Your pics are fabulous! They make me feel like I'm really there. I have so enjoyed reading your trip reports and felt it was time to come out of the shadows and tell you. I've seen many of your dresses on the Disboutiquers threads and really can appreciate your detailed work. They are beautiful as is your daughter in them.
My DD is about the same age as yours, 11 and going into middle school/6th grade also. We are planning a trip but not until Nov 2013, giving me plenty of time to sew!
My DD wants a Cindy dress like your DD's blue one (to start with lol) - I love that she still wants to dress for pics. You have been part of our inspiration for choosing to go when WDW is decked out for Christmas - can't wait! Well, it seems I've written a book, so I'll stop now...thanks for sharing your sewing creativity, pics and trips!

Thanks! Merida was so perfect to come along when she did. It gave me something new to do that had a more grown-up look, so just in line with what Katie would want.

You really do need to see the MMY show. It's quite remarkable. I'd love to get right up near the hub to see it even closer this time. Of course, it took me like 3 tries just to get as close as I did finally, but maybe next time. It's not a long show, but it's pretty amazing.

out of lurkdom! So glad you spoke up. Thanks for all the kind words. I'm glad you have a princess who still wants to dress up! When does school start for her? Katie had a half day of orientation today but starts for real Wednesday.

Good luck working on your blue Cindy gown! Does she want a winter version? Watch for sheer tablecloth fabrics in the stores closer to Christmas. They add a nice touch to a winter Cindy gown.

I'm happy to inspire you to do Disney in December. Can you tell it's my favorit time to visit Disney? We first did a December trip in 04. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. We had just been that June when we roasted and couldn't stay in the parks past noon. To walk into the parks in a sweatshirt, with that garland hung above us on Main Street........ was just amazing. I was totally in love.

Another awesome update Janet. Loved all the pics especially your favorite of the girls on Splash giving what looks like the rock n roll hand signal. That is classic. Did you have them do that or was it spontaneous?

Well Kadence and I spent so much time looking at your beautiful photos that the DIS logged me out!

You've made a little girl so in awe, she's "in jealous" of the gowns, laughing over the character meets, and thinks that punky hair is funny! I know for sure we will be visting the Tremaine group at MVMCP for sure.

She wants to go back and look over the pictures again. She also says she going to do the rock sign when riding BTMR.

Was it okay for me to be a little misty at the Wishes photos? So Beautiful. And now that they are closing the M,M, & Y I'm going to be a lot sad and mad. I'm so miffed at myself for not seeing it in Sept. UGH!

What a wonderful thing to have a friend experience with you. I think I've said that before, but those pictures just have such happiness coming out in them.

Thanks Mike! I had no idea they were going to do the hand signals. It didn't ever register with me until I looked at the photo later. I was pretty focused on just hanging onto my camera!

Just make sure when she does that RnR sign for you that you have your camera in hand and are turned around focused on her, ok? Cuz I don't want to miss it!

I do feel for all you Oct/Nov folks again now that it looks like MMY might be dark when you're there. I'd be sad too. I'm really curious to see what they have in store. Although I tend to agree with the theory that they are probably going to take out the guest photos since the "Let the Meories Begin" promotion will be ending. I hope it has something to do with the new Fantasyland opening. Someone else posted wondering if they might incorporate the glowing Mickey Ear hats they unveiled at World Of Color at Disneyland. Now THAT would be totally awesome. I'd probably have to drop $50 for a couple pair of those.

And yes, it really is quite a special treat to get to enjoy Disney with a friend. There aren't a lot of little kids in our neighborhood, so no kids her age to just hang out with. So I'm glad that we've gotten to have a friend for her at Disney a few times.

Yeah, we definitely got our money's worth out of our locker that day!

And you really should take the tripod at least once. It's photography nirvana to be standing there in front of the castle with a nice camera and tripod.

Oh my goodness, there's so many updates I missed! Well, all caught up now. That party was definitely the same one we were at! We got the same Rapunzel & Flynn too, they were fantastic.

You guys certainly had a lot of costume changes! Did that all fit in one locker?! I love that you do all of them, get the best interactions out of the characters as you can. Love it!!
