Princess Not Married??

All of the movies imply they are getting married or got married and are now living their happily ever after. There is nothing wrong with her asking and I would not worry about the princesses getting uncomfortable. These are trained professionals. It takes a lot of acting abilities to be hired as a face character, so let her ask away.

Last night we were watching Princess and the Frog and DD turned around and asked me why didn't Beauty and Beast get married ??
I told her I did not know.
Then she went to the movie cabinet and pulled out every princess movie, to show which princesses were not married.
And plans to ask each princess at the park why they are not married? :scared:
Is this an appropriate question for my DD to ask? :confused3

The list is
Beauty (belle)
Aurora
Snow White
And I think Mulan

updated: Pocahontas is added to this list.....
I have just spoken to my friebd and she assures me that Belle and Beast are married. In "The enchanted Christmas" at the beginning and the end Belle is in her wedding dress. I can't say for sure as it has been years since I have watched it:confused3 but maybe others can confirm this or maybe you could rent or buy the movie? This would put your DD's mind at rest and she could scratch Belle off of the list?

Claire:)

Maybe I am the only one.... but i guess its because I am a single parent.... Why do the Princesses need to be married?

I dont think its inappropriate to ask the Princesses the question but I suppose I would try to explain to my daughter that you dont have to have a man to make you happy!! Yes it sure is nice, but in this day and age, familes come in all shapes and sizes!!!!!!!!! :grouphug: I want my daughter to grow up strong and independant and not with the fairytale idea of "prince" having to rescue her and solve all of her troubles, guess thats just me.

Does rapunzel get married at the end?

Yes she is. As they end the story, they already are I assume, b/c they are talking about him having asked her to marry him etc.

2) In Tangled, Rapunzel is 18 and the film ends with Flynn talking about asking her to get married for years before she finally says yes.

I guess Disney is picking up on the trend of a rising average age of marriage in society...

She's a brand new 18 in the movie (starts the movie at 17). It's totally OK for her to wait a few years to get married...

Because most of the so-called princesses AREN'T princesses. Some are princesses by birth, but others aren't/won't be actually princesses until they have married their prince.

That's exactly why it bugs many people. Mulan is in the princess lineup, NOT a princess. Pocahontas, same. Lots of people want Gisele as a Disney Princess. She's a business owner and lives with or married a totally normal man. She's BEYOND not a princess. None of those are princesses, nor will they be.

Nancy, however, IS a princess, so why don't we want HER in the princess lineup?

Tiana is a princess once she marries what's his face (sorry, can't recall!). Belle, Cinderella also only become princesses once they marry.

Ariel is a born princess. Someone mentioned Snow White is too. Sleeping Beauty is as well (and I think her betrothed is a prince from elsewhere?), as well as Jasmine.

So those women don't have to marry to be a princess, but the others definitely do!

And that's why it's important to some, b/c it's just silly to call someone a princess just because she's a pretty female. IMO.

If she's going to ask Belle a question, a better one would be "how is the Beast standing over there? I thought the curse was broken?"

Not a fan of the marriage question, but only because the fact that it didn't happen on screen does not mean it didn't happen.

This is not true...
I just checked it...
1st of all belle does not even apper in the 1st scene of the movie..

and when we see her at the end, she is in her Christmas dress. ( the red one)
the reason we know this her her x-mas dress, b/c at the parks she only wears at at x-mas time...

Also it is VERY clear int he movie they are have a christmas party.. not a wedding..
