Based on Marathon Weekend, this Canadian will be fine with running in mid 40s (heck yeah!!), but I am bringing throwaways for the corrals.
One suggestion to everyone - be careful about removing your throwaways too early, particularly on the half marathon course. When I did that course during Marathon Weekend, I started to feel okay and was removing layers (thankfully not throwing them away), but when we made the turn on to the highway, it got COLD and stayed cold until the sun started to come up.
What do people do for their shoes if it’s raining while waiting around? Running a half with wet shoes sounds absolutely miserable.
During Marathon Weekend, I tried to keep my shoes dry by tucking them under my poncho, but I simply couldn't so I wound up doing a lot more standing than I wanted to. I did carry dry socks with me (note: put them in a plastic bag to make sure they stay dry), but didn't wind up using them.
The other thing about sitting down in the rain is that my butt was getting super wet. I'm thinking of bringing a towel to sit on as well.
