Princess Half Marathon Weekend 2025 (Feb 20-24 2025)

Or is this yet another tech issue like there was during MW (or was it DL? either way...) where people were getting messages that their bib code was invalid, etc.

Only running the 10K, but it let me link my code with no issue or error message.

my photopass links look like this:

5k:
2025-prin-hlfh-xxxx

challenge:
2025-prin-hlfv-xxxx

with the xxxx being a combination of letters and numbers, bib numbers not a part of it at all. I was able to link mine by following the link and copy/pasting the code as is.

Seems easier as there aren't as many to link for the challenges.

are the XXXX codes identical? If so, that would give some merit to the "5 people" theory

This is also going to be confusing for people who are used to "weekend code abbreviation + bib number" for photopass if the *new* code isn't also printed on the back of the race bibs, especially since the back of the bibs can get pretty dinged up and text gets rubbed off sometimes.

306XX for challenge with a solidly corral B POT. Feels like a really low bib number assuming it starts at 30000? But I'll take it!

(Actually I won't, since I'll be dropping back to wherever my friend without a POT is :hyper:)

I’m excited for this weekend, but I’m also kinda bummed cuz idk if I’ll be able to do any of my races at all. You might remember my tutu snafu, that ended up being a sprained foot. I thought it had fully healed and had been running on it, but it twinged occasionally so I went to the doc to make sure. Been in PT and wearing a boot for weeks now. Saw doc today and I don’t have to wear a boot, but he strongly suggests I don’t do the 5k, and the 1/2 is off the table.
I’ve just been looking forward for this for almost a year, and it was supposed to be my first 1/2.

Anyone else dealt with this before? Any tips?
The doc says I can do the parks, but I’m not sure if I can do that AND the 5

My tip is to be a real runner and ignore all those who try to keep you from running with all their “medical knowledge” and “care for your general well-being.”

Can you still walk the 5k and not run it? If your doctor gave you the OK to do the parks?

Would it be foolish of me/feasible to start the 1/2 and then self sweep at mile 1ish? I don’t know if that would make me feel better or worse, getting to do a little of the race and not being able to keep going, or not do that race at all? Because it’s not just one mile, it’s getting to the starting line, waiting in corral, and then walking.

I don't think it's foolish! I bet I would do the same thing. Otherwise, it feels like I'd be missing out on too much.

This might be what I do in fact. I'm currently nursing a sore hamstring and I'm doing all 3 races. I should be fine for the 5k and the 10k, where I might walk some or all of it. On Sunday, I'll start and take myself off course at a med tent if my leg hurts. I see it as a way to experience the race atmosphere at the start line and get my Half medal, even if I don't finish.

Does anyone know if you can get back to the restrooms at the front of Epcot after finishing the 5k/10k without "exiting" the event area. The starting line map appear that you can. I was thinking of walking back there to change out of sweaty clothes while waiting for the bus.

If what you mean is "can I get to a real bathroom without having to go through security again" the answer is yes (assuming they haven't change the setup from MW.) Is this a long walk, and you'll likely be covering more than half a mile walking back and forth, because the busses are near the finish line and the real bathrooms are way back by security? Also yes. Will you be outside of the "event area" (aka where they stop you to finish or discard alcohol)? Pretty sure that's also a yes.

Thanks, and yes that was what I meant! I'm fine with extra walking, the real bathrooms just seem preferrable to change in versus a porta-a-potty. I'll have enough time to kill prior to the busses running at 6:30 and with how cold it's going to be, would rather shed my potentially sweaty/wet base layer while waiting. I was mostly just worried about not being allowed back over to where the busses are after that.

Honestly, you would know best how you’re feeling to make the decision for the half. A friend of mine tore their hamstring the week before Boston, but still ran the full. Stupid? Probably.

You said it’s been weeks since you sprained your foot, you wore a boot, and you visited a “doc.” What kind of doc? People here seem to use that term interchangeably with chiros, physical therapists, etc., and frankly I question a lot of the advice/treatment I hear reported on the board. If an orthopedist with an M.D. gave advice I would take it more seriously than some chiropractor who is trying to sell repeated sessions of adjustments/scraping/needling/shockwaves.

If you can run without pain, then do it. Listen to your body and make the best choice for you.
