Princess Ashlyn's Birthday Trip - That's 2 For 2! September 2010 PTR (Started my TR!)

Hooray for single digits!:yay:

I love my guide books too. I have the Unofficial Guide and the Passporter. Both are fantastic. Plus, I just bought 2 new books on Amazon yesterday...Mousejunkies and Project Future. Can't wait! I also highly recommend The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World and The Walt Disney World Trivia Book (there are 2 volumes).

Thanks for celebrating with me! Your trip is coming up fast, too! :woohoo:

I also have the Unofficial Guide. I just broke them out and I also have the Imagineers Field Guide to the Magic Kingdom and the Hidden Mickeys book. I'm always looking for new ones so I'll have to check out those other ones you mentioned!

Aww, it's so sweet that Aaron saved the pink Dumbo for Ashlyn. :lovestruc And I bet Ashlyn was just adorable saying wheee! :cutie:

We're looking forward to character autographs as well. We're hoping for lots and MNSSHP will allow us to get some really special ones like the Queen of Hearts. :goodvibes And you absolutely get to act like a kid when meeting characters (well doing anything really) at WDW! I have some flashbacks pics of myself meeting characters as a senior in high school and I was grinning from ear to ear!

(sorry for the poor quality, I don't have a scanner so my flashback pics are pictures of pictures)

I love flashback pictures. :goodvibes Thanks for making me feel even better about wanting to act like a kid at WDW. You're right, MNSSHP could result in some awesome, rarer pics/autographs! So fun!

Your trip is SO soon!!!!
:banana::banana::banana:

Amanda

Thanks for dancing with me! :)

Single digits! That is so very soon!

We love the guidebooks as well, they get me all psyched up.

Too cute that Aaron ran to get you a pink dumbo. Such a sweet daddy and husband!

That's so wonderful that Ashlyn joined in at dance class! You must have been so proud!

I bet you're starting to get too excited to sleep! You will be in disneyworld so very soon!

I'm so excited! We leave on Saturday!

Aaron does stuff like that all the time and it always melts my heart. I'm very lucky! :cloud9:

I am very proud of her! Not only did she do that, but this weekend she also counted to 6 all by herself! She'll skip 7, say 8, skip 9, say 10. :rotfl: It's so cute!!

I love that commercial! "I'm too excited to sleep!" :happytv:

Sorry I've been neglecting my PTR this weekend. It's been very busy. Aaron sponsored a new family that moved to the island on Saturday so he was out of the house most of the time helping them. I was cleaning up around the house. Sunday that family came over for dinner and I made chicken pot pie so there was a little bit of work to that. Plus we had gone grocery shopping and Aaron had some schoolwork to do before Sunday night that I was trying to help with.

This week's going to be so busy! We leave for Florida on Saturday! :dance3: So Aaron's going to try to do this week and next week's assignments for his online college class so he doesn't have to worry about it next week. I try to help as much as possible, but he's doing biology right now. Science isn't my strong suit. I understand it and all, but not as much as English and Math! I can help with those no problem! :thumbsup2

Anyway, I'm going to catch up on everything now. I just need to go get my countdown list! :)

8 Days: We have our digital photo frame set up with pictures of Ashlyn with the characters right now and she always loves to look at them. But this day we sat down all together and looked at all the pictures of her with the characters in hopes that it will help her be ready for how big the characters are. She was really excited looking at them and loved to point out her favorites, but we'll see. She's so shy at first around people she doesn't know, so I don't really have any expectations. :)

Thing #8 we are looking forward to is...

THE POSSIBILITY OF MNSSHP!!!

I would just love to go to MNSSHP! We're wanting to buy them with the military discount they're offering so that means we have to wait and buy them there. This actually works out really well because if it rains, we don't have to worry about it. We just won't buy the tickets. I looked at the 10-day forcast yesterday and it's supposed to rain the day before we leave for Disney, so I'm liking this plan more and more. I REALLY hope it doesn't rain that day (or threaten rain) so we can go! :yay: Among other things, I would be so excited to be able to take Ashlyn's pic in front of Cinderella's Carriage! :cloud9: If it doesn't work out, we'll definitely go one day, though.

7 Days: One week! :cool1: Technically we leave a week from this past Saturday, but we're pulling the last link off on Saturday before we leave, so the countdown is a little off. :lmao: We were going to have a special Movie Morning with a special brunch and watch Winnie the Pooh because we're having breakfast at CP during our trip! It's a first for us. But we were just so busy we had some biscuits and gravy (we don't have it very often so it was a treat) while watching the movie. I put out Ashlyn's stuffed Eeyore, Pooh, and Tigger, but that was the extent of our decorations. I'll do a proper Winnie the Pooh movie night after our trip. ;)

Thing #7 that we are looking forward to is...

CRYSTAL PALACE!!!

CrystalPalaceSign.jpg

While planning our trip, the first thing Aaron said was that he wanted to go to CRT again. :goodvibes He loves the atmosphere, knows I do too, and he loves watching Ashlyn have so much fun. But I said that I would love to try something new, too. So we decided on the Crystal Palace! I've heard nothing but good things so I am very excited to have breakfast there! A few months after we made the reservation, Ashlyn developed a love for Pooh! So that makes me even more excited!

If you've been to CP for breakfast, what would you say is one thing on the buffet that I just HAVE to try?

6 Days: Less than 1 week! :hyper: Today Ashlyn and I are going to do a Disney sticker art project! She loves stickers and coloring so she loves stuff like this. I'll post a picture tomorrow during my next update. ;)

Thing #6 that we are looking forward to is...

LOOKING FOR HIDDEN MICKEYS!!!

10MarchAnimalKingdom127.jpg

I love finding all sorts of hidden details at Disney, and there are a ton! I'm not planning on spending a lot of time looking for hidden Mickeys this trip since it's a short trip, but I definitely want to find a few I haven't seen before! I have the Hidden Mickey Guide to help me out a little. ;)

What's your favorite hidden Mickey that you've found?

I LOVE Crystal Palace for breakfast (and so does my family)!! Hmm...what should you make sure you get to eat....everything!! We ate there in Jan 09, so I don't remember everything on the buffet. Pretty sure there was a breakfast pizza and delicious stuffed french toast.

They both sound good! I've heard more than one person talk about how good the stuffed french toast is so that is a definite must! I'm getting hungry just thinking about all the yummy food. :rotfl: popcorn:: Thanks for your suggestions!

We debated a CP breakfast (and eventually settled on 1900 PF instead). It looks like a great breakfast though. The thing I was looking most forward to about it was getting onto Main Street before the crowds so I could take pictures and be ahead of the crowd for the Dumbo dash- a definate plus!

Less than one week!

I definitely want to do 1900 PF one day. Can't wait to hear what you think!

MNSSHP is so much fun, I hope you don't get rained out. I love it so much!

Crystal Palace is amazing, isn't it? And so convenient right in the park. It's a great meal!

Cute that you put the pictures of her with the characters on your digital picture frame. It will be interesting to see how she feels about them!

I have never spent time looking for hidden mickeys, but I can't wait to hear about the ones that you find!

Saturday! So soon!

Oh, and I almost forgot...chicken pot pie? Yum! Recipe, when you get some time, please!

I hope MNSSHP works out, too. Everything I've heard makes it sound like so much fun!

CP definitely looks and sounds wonderful! I can't wait to try it out.

I will definitely send you the chicken pot pie recipe. My mother-in-law recently asked for it, too, so I'll be sending that out hopefully today! :)

5 Days: Today I'll finally be starting our packing! I'll be putting aside our clothes, travel-sized toiletries we won't need these next few days, etc. So exciting! I always organize everything but Aaron packs because he's just extra good at making everything fit. He says it's thanks to the Navy and moving, packing for deployments, etc.

Thing #5 that we are looking forward to is...

MEETING MICKEY AND MINNIE!!!

22OctGoingtoseeMickeyandMinnie5.jpg

I know I've said before that we'll see how Ashlyn is with the characters, but Mickey and Minnie are definitely ones we want to try for her. She loves them so much and gets so excited when she sees anything with them on it that I really hope she isn't scared because I know she would be so happy to see them. :goodvibes There are two or three other characters I think she'll be over the moon to see if she's not scared, but Mickey and Minnie are definitely number 1 (and 2, I guess :rotfl:)! I'm not sure if I told this story on this PTR or not, but last time we saw Mickey and Minnie was back in October 2009. Ashlyn hadn't seen any cartoons or anything with them. We were waiting in line and she started to get a little cranky because it was nearing her naptime. We were really close to the front of the line so we decided to just go ahead and stay in line, hoping she would be okay for a few more minutes. We got into the little room where they were and she looked up and saw Mickey... she got the biggest smile on her face and all the grumpiness went away! She was a little nervous when we got up there, but she was pointing and bouncing and just so excited to see them! It's like she just knew. :cloud9: Now that she knows who they are, it'll be cool to see how she reacts. :)

If she's not feeling it, I still want to get a family picture (she's been okay with the characters if we're holding her) and an autograph because I think afterward she'll love to see the picture and their autographs in her mini scrapbook I'm making her!

I love meeting Mickey & Minnie!! They are just so darn cute. We met them together for our Disney Visa picture last January and I loved it! We hope to meet them together at MNSSHP in just a few weeks.

Wow, just five days! Such a cute pic of you guys! I hope Ashlyn enjoys the characters. :goodvibes

We'll be meeting them in the Judge's Tent during the day, but if we do go to MNSSHP I am totally going to go see them again in their Halloween outfits!! :)

Awwww, thanks! I love that picture. :lovestruc

Not an update, but just had to say... I really needed a Disney boost today. We're so close to leaving and I know I should be super excited. In 5 days we leave for Florida and a week from tomorrow we'll be on Disney property! Don't get me wrong, I am so happy and really looking forward to it, but I think because things have been so hectic lately and other things have been on our minds, it just hasn't felt real. It hasn't felt like we're really leaving soon and will be going to the happiest place on Earth!

I always check DIS and listen to Disney channels on Live365 and all that, but I do that every day so I needed a little extra something. So I decided to pop in the Disney planning DVD (we have that planned for Friday, too, but Aaron will be here to watch, too) and it's working! It always makes me cry, the moment that song comes on (it's the time of your life!) but I'm definitely starting to get in that "OMG, I'm going to WDW!!!" mood again. :goodvibes

And just to let you know, my crying doesn't get better when Ashlyn sees Mickey on the screen and gets all excited and yells "MICKEY!" :cloud9:

:banana::banana::woohoo::yay::banana::banana:

5 days!! How exciting!!!! And....OMG you will be at Disney World before you know it!! :thumbsup2

Great family pic w/ Mickey & Minnie! ::MickeyMo::MinnieMo

I think that pre-trip lull is pretty normal. Karen warned me it would happen because she experienced it, then when it happened to me I figured she must know what she's talking about. THEN I read other DISers talking about it so I think it's just par for the course. I'm glad the DVD and seeing Ashlyn get excited helped. :goodvibes (Including the kids in my countdown definately helped me- kids are just great for that aren't they.) :lovestruc
