Princess Ashlyn's Birthday Trip - That's 2 For 2! September 2010 PTR (Started my TR!)

So glad Aaron is home! :goodvibes

I'm looking forward to trying the dole whip as well- I want to try a classic and a float because both sound yummy to me! I think it's very sweet that you do things for your mom while at Disney.

Since Ashlyn likes the ferry so much you'll have to be sure to go on at least one of the many ferry/water taxi/boat forms of transportation while your at Disney. :thumbsup2

DTD sounds like lots of fun and we are excited about exploring it as well!

Thank you! :)

I'm thinking since there will be 5 of us someone will be willing to get a float and we can all try both. YUM!

We are definitely taking the ferry from POFQ to DTD our first night. I think she'll have a blast! We're also definitely taking time to take a train ride while in the MK. :)

12 Days: Tonight we'll be watching Sleeping Beauty. princess: All of us always enjoy this movie. I'll have to remember to bring Ashlyn's stuffed Aurora doll from upstairs. :)

Thing #12 we are looking forward to is...

RIDING THE TRAIN!!!

WDWRAIL_1_998.jpg

Like I said earlier, Ashlyn has recently developed an interest in boats and trains. Earlier on our list was taking the ferry from POFQ to DTD. We'll also be taking a boat from this side of the island across the bay to the side with the airport so she'll have plenty of boat rides. :) We are going to make sure we take time to ride the train, too. She's so cute when we ask her what sound a train makes and she goes "choo choo!" :cutie:

Yay, I'm all caught up! :) I'm getting so excited and I am really in the mood to start packing! :lmao: But it's a little soon for us. I may go ahead and put aside at least some of the clothes that Ashlyn will be wearing since she has plenty of clothes for the next two weeks, but I'm not going to pack them quite yet. Next week I'll start to pack up some of our travel stuff that we won't need for the last week. :cool1: Can't wait!

The Elmo pops are too cute for words!! :yay: for staring to sew--I'm warning, you it can be addictive!! The Princess clips are adorable!!

Cute autograph book/pages. The DISign threads are just amazing. I am looking forward to both Goofy's and MSB. I have not been to either before so I cannot help with what's good. Though I know that the make-your-own treats at Goofy's are really popular so I am eying one of those. Probably one of the apples. :goodvibes

Ashlyn's going to be adorable as Cinderella in the park. Looking forward to seeing the pictures when you get back. :cutie:

I am looking forward to see Cinderella's Castle too. It made my list also!! I think I am going to get goosebumps. :cloud9:

our Souvenirs are similar too. I think the 4 Parks, 1 World cd is the one I am looking at getting too. Of course my DD wants My Little Pony pieces too as she loves playing with her ponies.

I think you got a great idea of riding the bigger rides while Ashlyn sleeps and spend time while she is awake doing family rides and letting her explore. How long does she sleep?

So glad Aaron made it home safe and sound!

DTD: I'm looking forward to it too just to see the new stores. I also need to pick something up for my sister at the magnet store. She has been in love with our dishwasher clean/dirty magnet since she first saw it. We got in there during our first trip to Disney, so I hope I can find something similar. :goodvibes I am looking forward to WOD and TrenD personally.

We've obviously packed  but that is because we leave tomorrow!!!!

Sorry I got behind on your PTR, I have a lot to do so I have not had much time to do any other DISing other than keeping up with my own PTR.

Ashlyn will love the train! When Jace was about the same age we rode the train at the zoo and loved it! We sat up front and the conducter let him say "All aboard" and he was just in heaven. :cloud9:

Umm, this is why I call myself obsessive but I've already started packing and my trip is AFTER yours. :rolleyes1

Thank you so much! Oh, trust me, I'm finding out that sewing can be addictive! I have a few stores I want to go to during our days in Jacksonville before heading to WDW and Michaels is one of them... I'm sure I'll be getting a ton of scrapbook stuff along with something new to try on the sewing machine! :thumbsup2

I agree, the DISign board is incredible. I wish I could do that! I'll have to search the make-your-own treats. I've heard about them but haven't really read about it or seen what you can make. It'll probably just make me hungry, though. :rotfl:

Ashlyn's going to be adorable as Cinderella in the park. Looking forward to seeing the pictures when you get back. :cutie:

I sure think so. :goodvibes I can't wait to see your pictures when you get back, too! Though I probably won't be able to see them until after I get back! :)

I am looking forward to see Cinderella's Castle too. It made my list also!! I think I am going to get goosebumps. :cloud9:

I can't wait to hear what you think!!! :goodvibes

our Souvenirs are similar too. I think the 4 Parks, 1 World cd is the one I am looking at getting too. Of course my DD wants My Little Pony pieces too as she loves playing with her ponies.

Well, great minds think alike! ;) Ashlyn only has one My Little Pony right now but she really likes it. I know some of the accessories we pick out will be too small for her right now, but I'm going to put them aside for later.

I think you got a great idea of riding the bigger rides while Ashlyn sleeps and spend time while she is awake doing family rides and letting her explore. How long does she sleep?

On average Ashlyn takes about a 2 hour nap. I'm sure it will be shorter there, though, with everything going on. She's never had issues sleeping in her stroller while we're there, so hopefully it'll be the same this trip!

So glad Aaron made it home safe and sound!

Thank you. We are so glad he's home. :)

There's a magnet store? I'll have to find that. I've always wanted a clean/dirty magnet for the dishwasher, but I'm sure Ashlyn would always play with it. She has fridge toys so she would just think it was hers and take it off all the time. :rotfl2:

We've obviously packed  but that is because we leave tomorrow!!!!

I know!!! That's so awesome!!! I'm still bummed that we ended up not being able to go on the same week and meet up, but maybe one day!

Sorry I got behind on your PTR, I have a lot to do so I have not had much time to do any other DISing other than keeping up with my own PTR.

I completely understand, Stephanie! No worries at all. :) I can't always keep up with my own PTR and I don't have a trip coming up in a day!

:rolleyes1

How cute that they let him say "All aboard!" I can imagine how special that ways for him! :goodvibes

I would probably have started packing already but I didn't want Aaron to come home, unpack, and then have suitcases out and packing again right away. Thought I'd give the poor guy a break. :lmao: Next week, though, all bets are off!!

11 Days: Is it bad that I'm already getting excited for single digits? :lmao: I want to do the single digit dance so badly... but don't worry, I'll wait for two more days. ;) Today when Aaron gets home and after we have dinner, we're going to sit down and put together a list of our must-do's. I know a lot of them will be what has been on our countdown list, but I printed out cute stationary from the DISign boards so we have something to bring with us and make sure we get to everything that's extra important to us. Not that we won't remember, but I think it will really get us even more pumped to go! Not that we need help, but it'll be fun. :thumbsup2

Thing #11 that we are looking forward to...

MEETING TIANA & NAVEEN AND/OR THE FAIRIES!!!

We have never done a meet and greet with any of these characters. I really, really wanted to meet Tiana and Naveen in March, but it got rained out. :( So we're going to try again! This one is mainly for me, to be honest. :rolleyes1

We've also never met the Fairies. The lines are always just so long! We haven't gone to Toontown at rope drop which I know is the best strategy, but it was just never top on our list. Honestly, Ashlyn cares more about the princesses right now so even if we don't do it this trip, no one will be heartbroken. But if we do manage to be able to meet them... bonus! :thumbsup2

Just a couple more days until you get to do the single digit dance. :thumbsup2

We're taking the same laid back approach with character greetings. We just had to decide what we wanted to race to short lines for, characters or rides, and rides won!

Good idea! Why stress yourselves with trying to get everything done, right? Even if you don't get to everything, at least you'll be enjoying what you do get to do and not be all stressed. :) We're going to wait and see how Ashlyn reacts to the characters and rides and decide from there which wins! I'm secretly hoping she likes the characters more because as she gets older she'll want to ride the rides more than see the characters. But I'm good either way. :)

Wow! 11 days! We loved meeting the Fairies last year and we hope to meet them again this year. Madison got to meet Tink, Silvermist and Iridessa last time, so we'd like to meet either Fawn, Rosetta or Vidia!

It's true, the best way to meet them without a long line is to do the Toontown Rope Drop. After the fairies, you could always do the princesses after. They always have a shorter line!

True, but we have a reservation at CRT so we'll be getting the chance to see the princesses then. :thumbsup2 I was thinking of doing the rope drop at Toontown but we have a 9:15 (or something like that) reservation at CP so I don't think we'd make it. Oh well. There are other things that are higher on our list so I'm not stressing over it. :) I have always heard that the fairies are lots of fun... I hope you get to do them again this time!

Ah yes, we'll be seeing the princesses at CRT as well. I'm trying to figure out where in my schedule I can fit in the fairies...probably after our CP ressie! However, with it being Sept and lower crowds, you should be just fine heading over to the fairies after your breakfast (if you want). It's SO worth it!

How funny that we have the same thing going on with the princesses and fairies! I will definitely lead the family over to Toontown after our CP ressie to check out the fairies. Thanks!

Just checking in...........it's been awhile! Can't believe you are only 10 days away from your trip. It goes by so quick, especially the last few days. We leave 3 weeks from today.

Just like you...............I can't wait to get pics w/ Tiana and Naveen. We kept missing them on our last visit and we just ran out of time. It's at the top of our list for this visit. We did get pics of them during their parade but that was it. Our last visit was when the movie came out.

Hope you had a safe and happy trip. It seems now since Gabby started school that I don't get on here as much! I figured I better wish you a GREAT trip now. :yay: Have fun! Ashlyn is going to have a blast.

The last little bit really does go by so fast! We have a very busy weekend coming up, too, so that'll make it seem even shorter!

We're waiting to see how Ashlyn reacts to the characters this time before we decide how character heavy our trip is going to be, but even if she doesn't enjoy the characters, I still plan on getting my pic taken with Tiana and Naveen. :lmao: I hope you get a chance to on your visit!

Thank you very much for wishing us a good trip. I hope you have a very magical trip, too, but I'm sure I'll have a chance to check up on the DIS before you leave so I'll just be repeating myself. :rotfl:

10 Days: Aaron's getting the last bit of paperwork we need to get off/on the island at least started today, so that's really exciting! Today Ashlyn and I are going to watch Tinkerbell! Aaron is probably going back into work tonight (plus our TV broke this morning so we'll have to watch it on the computer) so Ashlyn and I are just going to cuddle together and watch it this afternoon. That's always nice, too, though. :goodvibes

Thing #10 we are looking forward to is...

DUMBO!!!

11MarchMagicKingdom13.jpg

We were close to the front of the line so as soon as we got to the elephants, Aaron ran in front of us to secure a pink one. :lmao: He's so cute. Ashlyn had so much fun riding this our last trip. She kept going "WHEEEEEE!!" :cloud9: It was so cute. There is EMH the morning we're going to MK so I'm hoping to get everybody up and ready to take advantage of that and not have to worry about long Dumbo lines. Not really sure that's going to happen (probably not :lmao:) but it's okay either way. Plus the crowds shouldn't be horrible this time of year anyway. I hope she enjoys it again!

This morning has just been fabulous! First, please join me in my SINGLE DIGIT DANCE!!! :dance3: :woohoo:  :woohoo: :woohoo: :cheer2:

Also, Ashlyn and I made it back to dance class this week. A couple of weeks ago I wrote saying we went but Ashlyn was too shy to join the group. The following week the time was changed to right around when Ashlyn wakes up from her nap so we didn't make it. But thankfully it was switched back to Friday morning this week and we were able to go. Ashlyn was still a little shy at first, then after a minute or two started doing the dances to the side, then maybe another minute went by before she joined the group! Once she did she had a BLAST! I am so happy for and proud of her! :cloud9:

Today marks....

9 Days: :woohoo: I had planned on all of us sitting down and looking through our guide books together (we have Birnbaum's, Passporter... um.... and a couple of others but I can't think of which ones at the moment) but Aaron might be working tonight so it might just be Ashlyn and me. Aaron enjoys looking through them, though, so I'll keep them out for him to check out throughout the next 9 days. Looking through the guide books and all those pictures just gets me so pumped up! :yay: Especially Birnbaum's. I grew up with that one so it's extra special to me.

Thing #9 we are looking forward to is...

CHARACTER AUTOGRAPHS!!!

Or at least trying it out! I don't remember ever going up to get a character autograph. I'm sure I did when I was younger, but I don't remember it whatsoever. We're going to try it out, but if Ashlyn is too scared of the characters we won't be seeing many outside of our character meals. Like I've mentioned before, we're just going to go with the flow and follow Ashlyn's lead. :thumbsup2 I'll get autographs from a few characters if Ashlyn doesn't want to if for no other reason than for scrapbooking. :) I think I have always been a little shy about interacting with the characters or hugging them now that I'm an adult, but something made me realize while planning for this trip that no one is going to think I'm weird for hugging Mickey! Why not have fun and act like a kid! :cutie: Can't wait!

Hooray for single digits!:yay:

I love my guide books too. I have the Unofficial Guide and the Passporter. Both are fantastic. Plus, I just bought 2 new books on Amazon yesterday...Mousejunkies and Project Future. Can't wait! I also highly recommend The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World and The Walt Disney World Trivia Book (there are 2 volumes).

Aww, it's so sweet that Aaron saved the pink Dumbo for Ashlyn. :lovestruc And I bet Ashlyn was just adorable saying wheee! :cutie:

We're looking forward to character autographs as well. We're hoping for lots and MNSSHP will allow us to get some really special ones like the Queen of Hearts. :goodvibes And you absolutely get to act like a kid when meeting characters (well doing anything really) at WDW! I have some flashbacks pics of myself meeting characters as a senior in high school and I was grinning from ear to ear!

(sorry for the poor quality, I don't have a scanner so my flashback pics are pictures of pictures)
