Princess Ashlyn's Birthday Trip - That's 2 For 2! September 2010 PTR (Started my TR!)

Awesome movie night!
My DH is a chicken so I'm sure we'll never do Characters in Flight... :lmao:

Amanda

umm...ladybug picnic/snow white... :lmao: Is that a theme? I couldn't decide so I lumped it all together!

Hmmm... if you really did want to make cake pops you could always make red, blue, and yellow ones since those are the colors of Snow White's dress and/or make some red ones and draw black dots on with edible marker. OH! Or you could do the red with black dots and use some sort of candy for little antennae. :rotfl: Sorry, I love trying to think of ways to incorporate cake pops into different themes. :)

Amanda

Thank you! Aaron would love to try Characters in Flight at least one day. We aren't stressing it this trip. I don't know if my in-laws would be interested... not sure how they do with heights!

So there are 162 days until we go to WDW. :faint: Now, I don't know about you, but I think that's a really long time!!! :rotfl: I'm trying to think of things to do to keep myself from going insane! I am slowly planning Aaron's birthday (late July) and Ashlyn's birthday (her birthday is late September but we'll probably have her party the first Saturday in October since we'll be coming home the day before her actual birthday). Aaron likes to keep his birthday simple, though, and Ashlyn's party will be a little more simple than we originally thought since we are celebrating at WDW.

What do you do when you're counting down the days until your next trip? Everything is planned and all our reservations are made. I would do our movie nights once a week instead of every two, but I'm pretty sure I would run out of ideas after awhile. Going every two weeks, whenever I have to start repeating movies at least Ashlyn will be old enough to really enjoy it and understand what's going on so it'll kinda be fun to start over and do different crafts and make them more elaborate. ;) I am making pillowcases for the in-laws (we already have ours from our last trip) but am not going to do that until closer to when we leave.

I think I'm just all full of caffeine :hyper: and am looking for something to plan! :lmao: Any ideas would be very welcomed! TIA!!!

Those are cute ideas for cake pops (and I appreciate any input, so don't worry!)...what do you think I could use for antennae? And...can I make them a day or two in advance? I assume I could, but I should check, right? (And while you're brainstorming for me, what do you think I could use for "stems and leaves" on cupcakes, because I was going to make "apple" cupcakes for "snow white"...just frost the top red and put a stem and leaf on them, but I have no idea what to use!)

It is really far away, isn't it? DD isn't even a year yet and when we go she'll turn 17 months!

As for planning...

-packing lists (okay, I may love packing lists a little too much!)
-Autograph books/passports/stroller tags
-Spending too much money online for "accessories" for your trip (I, for instance, just bought DD one of those light up spinny things on ebay since DS already has one from a dino show we went to)
-Get making dresses!
-start planning a "countdown calendar"
-"disney schoolwork" which for a 1.5 year old is just coloring pages of disney characters
-have you ordered maps from disneyworld.com?
-I, for one, will be passing some time watching the Disney Cruise line free DVD that I just ordered (they send me links, I'll order anything free they send me!)
-Check your real mail and e-mail obsessively for a PIN

...alright, that's all I have for now. :lmao:

Oh I know! It's crazy. Ashlyn is 18 months and will be less than a week away from turning 2 when we go!

As for planning...

-packing lists (okay, I may love packing lists a little too much!)
This is a good idea. That way if there is anything I need to order online I can do that ahead of time.
-Autograph books/passports/stroller tags
I was thinking of making an autograph book. Aaron says Ashlyn's too young for one, but heck... I want one!!! So I may just have to look into that.
-Spending too much money online for "accessories" for your trip (I, for instance, just bought DD one of those light up spinny things on ebay since DS already has one from a dino show we went to)
I could spend too much money on stuff like that VERY easily! :rotfl:

-Get making dresses!
I wish I could make cute dresses! I've never touched a sewing machine. We recently bought one and I really want to make stuff, but I'm going to start small. :rolleyes1 My DMIL is going to make Ashlyn a dress, though. I may ask her to make it a little big so she can wear it on our trip.
-start planning a "countdown calendar"
This is something I wanted to do. Maybe start it at 100 days or something. Good idea to start planning what to do for it.

-"disney schoolwork" which for a 1.5 year old is just coloring pages of disney characters
She LOVES to color and I break out her Mickey coloring book every now and then. I've been starting to put on Disney movies throughout the day, too, to start and get her more familiar with the characters, too. I'm not sure if that is helping or making me more anxious to go! :cutie:
-have you ordered maps from disneyworld.com?
You know what, I forgot about this! We ordered some awhile ago, before our very first trip together, but I haven't ordered the character ones. Good idea!
-I, for one, will be passing some time watching the Disney Cruise line free DVD that I just ordered (they send me links, I'll order anything free they send me!)
That is SO funny that you mention that. I just got the Disney Cruise line DVD in the mail the other day!
-Check your real mail and e-mail obsessively for a PIN
I've never gotten a PIN... but we are only staying for two nights (and not a package) so I'm not sure if I would even be offered one. :confused3

...alright, that's all I have for now. :lmao:

See replies above.

Thank you so much for the advice! :thumbsup2 I am definitely going to do some of that stuff! Sometimes it's hard to step away from your own little Disney bubble and think of the little things that you already know about but just aren't realizing... like the packing lists and countdown calendar.

Hmmm... I'll think about the antennae and stems/leaves today to see if I can think of anything. I'm going over to a friend's house in a couple of hours to teach her how to make cake pops. Her whole family LOVES when I make them so she wants to know how for when they move and I'm not around to make them every month or two. :rotfl: So I will be in the baking/decorating mood. I will let you know on your PTR if I come up with anything and I'll also ask Aaron what he tipped the barber.

You've already gotten some great tips! I second the autograph book idea. If you make one that you can pictures of Ashlyn with the characters to it will such a great keepsake to have when she's older. :cutie:

I'd also be checking out the DISign boards for shirts that you can have personalized. And of course I think you should do more movie days.

A few ideas I have on my list that we haven't gotten to yet:

Countdown Party- make a countdown chain, have mickey shaped foods

Kim Possible- photo scavenger hunt, El Bueno Nacho bar (this is the ‘hangout’ on the show)

Three Caballeros- Cinco de Mayo food and decorations

The Sword in the Stone- medieval food and decorations, plastic swords in cheese cubes

Star Wars- ‘galaxy grilled cheese’ (star shaped), space decorations

High School Musical- pep rally decorations, concession stand food (pizza, popcorn, etc.)

All Star Music- food court menu on allears, music decorations, Wii tourney (or whatever resort your staying at!)

Tie dye- make our shirts!!! have tri colored sherbert

Toy Story 3- go see this in the theater

Game day- all of our Disney games, mickey shaped foods again

Disney Channel- cruise decorations for Suite Life, sub sandwiches for Wizards, play Hannah/Miley cds

Lilo and Stitch- Hawaiian decorations, make leis with silk flowers and straws, pineapple skewers, sweet potato fries

Picnic in the park

We're also going to try to do a Disney day for each country in World Showcase. Some, like China and Mexico, will have a movie and some will just celebrate the country.

Since we're going to MNSSHP we're going to do a Halloween party during the summer.

You could also do CRT and try to make some of the foods on the menu, dress up for dinner, etc.

Okay, that's all I have for now. HTH! :goodvibes

Oh YAY!!! More fabulous ideas! I did want to do something special for when we hit 100 days so I think a countdown night making a chain or something would be perfect! I am actually already getting some ideas in my head for a good countdown calendar for Ashlyn.

Incorporating CRT into a Cinderella movie night sounds fabulous. I very rarely get to dress up around here so it'll be a good excuse. :) Thank you so much for the ideas! Okay, thanks to you guys I am getting super excited again because it doesn't seem like an impossible amount of time away. :cheer2:

I was so inspired and just in a MAJOR Disney mood after reading all the great suggestions that I wanted to do something fun. :mickeyjum So I printed out a Disney calendar for the months of April - September so I can write down all the little things I need to get done (Disney and other). I made it black and white so at the beginning of each month (well, middle of the month for April :) ) I can sit down with Ashlyn and we can color it together. Here is her work of art for this month.

I am also making a list of activities, fun facts, and other things to put on our countdown calendar (I have an idea for it... I'll post about it once I start making it). I mainly only have movie nights written on every other Saturday (though I'm thinking we might bump it up to once a week once it gets closer) but I'll think of other stuff. Since Ashlyn is still young, some of the days may just be for me like "complete a Disney scrapbook page." Thinking of stuff to put on there will definitely give me something to do when I need a Disney fix!

How fun! This is such a cute idea, I love it! :goodvibes

I love the calendar! Did you make it, or did you find it somewhere online? I'd love to do that too!

I love the calendar idea!!!

Amanda

Thank you!!

I love the calendar! Did you make it, or did you find it somewhere online? I'd love to do that too!

Thanks! Honestly, I was too excited about it and wanted to have it done quickly so I just printed off calendars from the disney.go.com website. :rotfl: The exact address is http://disney.go.com/magicartist/calendars/index.html

such a cute movie night! DD loves P&tF she was talking her dance teacher's ear off about it after dance class this week. The other parents were chuckling. Of course, DD just got it for Easter and watched it twice that week--including on the last part of the drive home prior to dance class. :rotfl:

Time fillers: have you checked out the DISign board for more things to do? You can do a passport, autograph book, binder for your trip, stroller tags, dining plan punch cards, planning/itinerary cards, shirts...the list is endless!!

Scrapbooking, sewing and creating things for the trip are my time fillers (when I am not crazy busy with school things :rotfl2:)

Love the calendar!!

Joining in!!!! All I've been doing lately is looking for other Sept PTR's!! We'll be arriving on the same day! We'll be at Pop from Sept 22-29th. :goodvibes Your DD is adorable!!! I can hardly remember when my DD was that little. You are one talented treat-maker!!!

Thanks! That is so cute how your DD was just talking about P&tF nonstop. :cutie: While I don't want Ashlyn to grow up, I can't wait to hear the things she thinks about. :lovestruc

Oh, I have definitely checked out the DISign board! I love it! We've made shirts and pillowcases for our past trip and I also have some stuff made for the future (a shirt for Ashlyn to wear on Father's Day and some stuff for Ashlyn's birthday). I wish I was that talented!!! I am going to check it out some more for some new things, though!

Scrapbooking is a terrific idea. I've been needing to catch up and have wanted to start with our Disney scrapbook (catch up on it, start it... same thing. ;) ). I have decided that Thursdays are going to be my scrapbooking days. When Ashlyn is napping and Aaron goes back to work I'm going to break everything out and at least do a page. I can't wait to start!!

I love finding other Sept. PTRs, too! I'm really enjoying yours. Thanks for joining in! :cool1:

Your movie nights have inspired me to have Disney dinners at our '50' day mark, '30' mark & '10' day mark til Disney.......I was going to pick one nights theme(disney movie and try to get the party plates and such that go w/it) and let DD & DS choose a night...any ideas?? Princess & the Frog is a great one w/gumbo but not sure my kiddos will eat the gumbo. ;)
I love your cake pops...i am going to try and google how to make them.
