Princess Ashlyn's Birthday Trip - That's 2 For 2! September 2010 PTR (Started my TR!)

Yay for booking! :goodvibes

I am excited. But now I have 6 months to wait and no real major planning left! There are lots of other reservations to make, but they aren't at Disney so I can't make them 180 days in advance. I'm getting too used to making reservations that far in advance that I expect everyone to let me. :lmao:

Today I am really busy with baking. The elementary school asked for baked goods for their Hollywood Extravaganza tomorrow and I thought it would be cool to make something for them. Just an excuse to get in the kitchen and bake something! :cool1:

Aaron and I were talking last night about where we should eat dinner our first night after checking in to POFQ. (I'm still excited about staying there so I can't just say "the hotel" yet. ) We always go to DTD that first night and these past two times have eaten at RFC. All three of us absolutely love it there but we were contemplating doing something new. So we figured either go ahead and go back to RFC, go to T-Rex, or grab something at Wolfgang Puck Express. What do you think? Any suggestions and/or experiences would be very welcome! popcorn:: TIA!

Yay for another trip! I would totally love to do a DIS Meet if you keep the dates!! The stars seem to be lining up for us to run into each other (especially if we can coordinate it). We are staying at POR, will be in DTD on the afternoon/evening of the 15th and MK the evening of the 16th. :goodvibes:

I love how DH is so supportive with planning and wanting to go to Disney! :yay: CRT and CP how much fun will those be!! I am sure Ashlyn will love  them.

What are you going to make for the elementary school?

Yay for staying at POFQ! It's beautiful there, you'll love it. You can pretend you're princess tiana! I mean, your DD can pretend. Right...:rolleyes1

I'm seriously contemplating DS to T-Rex. It looks really fun. I know he would love it so very much, it would be worth paying off plan. I'm considering maybe just having desert there or something, less price for the atmosphere.

Oh my goodness, you know I knew all that from reading your PTR but I just hadn't put 2 and 2 together yet! :teacher: We should totally coordinate something. That would be really cool.

My MIL and FIL are really excited, too, which is really cool. My MIL just wrote me this morning saying that my FIL already wants to start packing. :rotfl: I do, too, but I'm always ready to pack for Disney!

I am making cookies for the elementary school, but I have a crazy idea of how to decorate them, which I'll be doing once I get offline. I know it's not Disney related, but if anyone wants me to, I'll post pics!

:lmao: You're hilarious. You're right... but still funny. princess: I thought the same thing that I (*ahem* Ashlyn :) ) could pretend to be Princess Tiana.

You know, that's a good option to maybe just have dessert at T-Rex or RFC so we can still get the atmosphere but same a little money on dinner. Thanks for the idea!

One of the podcasts that I listen to was talking about resort choices and they mentioned POFQ several times! It sounds like you'll have a great trip!!!

Oh cool! Thanks so much for letting me know. Makes me even more excited to go. :goodvibes

POFQ sounds great! You should definately take the water taxi to DTD if you have time- it's supposed to be so fun and sometimes people even spot gators!

please post the pics of the cookies.
Sounds like your FIL is really excited-in my house i am the packer and planner, so i pack-err put away items starting day one of planning :rotfl:

Okay, I will definitely post pics tonight. I am decorating the cookies right now and I am happy with how everything is turning out so far. :goodvibes I love baking! As you'll see, frosting things is not my strong suit, but I'm hoping the presentation (and taste, of course) will make up for it.

It's hard for me not to start "putting things away" as soon as we have a trip planned. We just put away our luggage from the last trip, though, so I'm going to take a little break from that for now. :)

How cool! We did read about the water taxis to DTD and we always go there on our first night so that will just have to officially be a must-do. :boat: That would be kinda cool to spot a gator!

I finished up my cookies and Ashlyn is taking a nap, so I thought I'd go ahead and post some pictures! The elementary school here in GTMO (oh, I don't think I've mentioned in this PTR... we are currently stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba) is throwing a special event for the kids called Hollywood Extravaganza. They put an email out to the family roster (an email group you can sign up for and whenever something goes on around the island the person in charge of the roster sends out an email) asking for any donations of baked goods. Well, I couldn't pass that up! I  baking and am always wanting to try new things.

When I saw the email, I knew I couldn't just bring in cookies. Heavens no! :lmao: I wanted to do something special but also didn't want to stress myself out right now, so I decided to go with a simple cookie with a (what I thought would be) kinda cool presentation. After a little bit of brainstorming , I decided to make sugar cookies and use cookie cutters to spell out "Hollywood" and make a bunch of stars.

For the presentation, I decorated a tin sheet (that way they can just throw it away and not worry about returning something to me) to try to make it look like the Hollywood Hills.

After I took this picture I covered it with saran wrap just so there was a layer between the food and paper. Then I made my cookies and frosted most of them (they're already sugar cookies... I figured I would give people the option of not having the extra sugar from the frosting!). They just didn't look like nearly enough cookies to take so I made a quick batch of cake mix cookies. I had never made them before and had always wanted to, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity. They turned out pretty good!!!

I don't know if it all turned out exactly like what I had imagined, but I'm pretty happy. I hope the kids like it!!!

All this talk of cookies is making me hungry so I better go get some lunch while Ashlyn is sleeping! popcorn::

Super cute- and creative things like that are always a hit at bake sales. :thumbsup2

That's awesome! What a great idea!!!

Awww, thanks guys! I really appreciate it. I really love doing stuff like this, which I'm sure you'll see throughout this PTR. Those cookies weren't even for a bake sale. They're just treats for all the little stars at the Hollywood Extravaganza party. :) Now, NEXT week... as I've said my husband is in the Navy. He is an MA and the security department is having a bake sale the Saturday before Easter. I have a couple of things I'm going to make for that... one simple and one a little more complicated. I'll post pics of those, too. I promise I will have Disney related stuff in this PTR, too. :rotfl2:

we really Enjoyed wpe The menu was really varied and it almost felt like table service.
Good job on the cookies! The frosting looks good but I'm always hard on myself about that too.

Love the cookies:love:
It's funny the tangents that pre-trip reports can take sometimes..it ties in with what is going on in your life now and what you are planning for.
Can't wait to see what you come up with for hubby's department's bake sale.

Thank you! I'm going to be starting to bake everything on Thursday. I can't wait!

Thank you for the compliment and your input! I'm getting a little better with frosting, but it's still my weakness. :)

I need to call Disney today because I made the reservations for the wrong week. :headache: Oops! I'll explain more later, but I just have to make it for the following week. I'm hoping there won't be any problems!
