Princess Ashlyn's Birthday Trip - That's 2 For 2! September 2010 PTR (Started my TR!)

86 DAYS LEFT!! I was going to go ahead and wait a little bit to share some pictures, but I took some precious pics of Ashlyn this morning and just had to share them!! To start off, here's what we've had on our countdown calendar (I'll post updated pics of the countdown calendar I think every 10 days).

91 Days: Ashlyn colored a picture from her Mickey Mouse Clubhouse coloring book. Well, actually she colored two because she was having so much fun!
90 Days: Aaron's birthday is coming up so I ordered his birthday present.
89 Days: It was Friday so we went to story time at the library and picked out a couple of new books.
88 Days: We had a mini movie night tonight. When I was planning the activities for our calendar, we weren't sure if Aaron would be here or if he would be leaving for Virginia this day for a two week class. So I had planned just to watch something and maybe do a craft, nothing big. But Aaron ended up not going to the class so at the last minute we planned a meal around it. Anyway, we just watched the Minnie's Bowtique episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. We didn't do a craft, but we had Minnie's BOW tie pasta and cheese and crackers.

IMG_4965.jpg

For dessert we had MINI Snickers.

IMG_4962.jpg

Nothing big, but it was fun. Our next real movie night is The Sword in the Stone!

87 Days: Take pictures of Ashlyn in her Cinderella costume. I wanted to take pics because she is having a Disney princess birthday party when she turns 2 in a few months and I wanted time to play around with making invites. THIS is the reason why I just had to make an update today. :goodvibes

Isn't she just gorgeous? :lovestruc She's never worn a dress like this before and she kept twirling the skirt around like she was born wearing a princess dress. :rotfl: It was too sweet. :cloud9: A friend of mine made that headband. I ordered it with those colors to match the dress and told her what they were for. My friend loves Disney, too, and added the rhinestones so it would be fit for a princess: We have the tiara that matches the dress and shoes (and the shoes are just for dress up. We know the ones we bought that I posted about before will be much more comfy around the parks!) but she'll be much more likely to keep the headband in than keep the tiara on.

We haven't even done our activity for today. :rotfl: But I think it'll be cool to do the countdown calendar updates on the 10 day marks so I'll be back at least in a week or so. Sooner if I have any other updates. :thumbsup2

Oh my- how ADORABLE!! It makes me nostalgic for the days when my little girl dressed up in her princess clothes.

Love all of the activities and your menu for your movie night was cute! I think keeping it low key and doing it less often is probably a good idea- Karen and I seem to have burned ourselves out (and the kids since they never want to watch the movies anymore). :rolleyes1:

Thanks! She's such a little princess and just melted my heart when she swished the skirt around. I can't wait to see her walking around Disney in it. :goodvibes

I like having some more elaborate movie nights, but having them every 2 weeks has been perfect for us. It was nice to have a low key one this week, though. Ashlyn hasn't been feeling 100% (now I'm not, either) so we've been taking it easy.

Little Ashlyn is too cute w/her Cindy dress on!!! :)
Headband is great too!

My Ashlynn is going to be Cindy too when she gets to go to BBB!

Awww, I know your Ashlynn will be so cute, too! I can't wait until Ashlyn is old enough to go to BBB. Well, not that I want her to grow up or anything, but you know what I mean. :rotfl:

Adorable! I love the pic where she's looking at her "glass slippers". I wish Madison still wanted to be Disney princesses for Halloween. At 1, she was Tink; 3-Belle; 4-Ariel; 5-Cinderella (at 2 she was a Care Bear). The past two years she was a tiger and a black cat...not very Disney. :sad1: Maybe I can get her to go for a Disney costume this year! She LOVES Alice in Wonderland!

OMG! So adorable!!!

Amanda

I love the pictures, but what really got to me was how much she loved playing in it. :goodvibes I was afraid she'd be uncomfortable so I was ready to take the pictures super quickly. Ended up that she didn't want to take it off at all!!

Oh I know, I just  that picture! That's cool that Madison wore so many Disney costumes. This will be Ashlyn's first year dressed in a Disney costume. Her first Halloween she was 1 month old so we dressed her in ladybug pj's (where the little cap had antennae and everything) and that was her outfit. It was really cute. When she was 1 she was a tulip fairy (even won the Cutest Costume prize at the elementary school's Halloween party). It'll be cool to see if Madison will wear an Alice in Wonderland costume this year!

Okay, so I'm totally FREAKING out right now. We always plan a trip to Disney when we have to take Ashlyn to a Florida doctor for her hips (very mild hip displasia that she was born with... nothing major). We are always there for a few days so we go ahead and make the drive down to Orlando. Well, I called to make the doctor appointment this morning (you can only make them 3 months out... they should get on the 180 day program :lmao:) and the doctor we see has a conference that day! Out of all the days in September, he has a conference on the day we were planning around!!! :scared1: I have an idea or two of how we might be able to make it work, but it will be a lot of added expenses so I'm not sure if we'll be able to afford it. We could always extend our stay in Florida (even if we don't extend the Disney portion of the trip), try to switch from POFQ to Pop, little things like that. So the trip isn't completely thrown out the window or anything, but I had to get on and get it all off my chest. I'm a little stressed and Aaron is at the range today so I can't get a hold of him (well, I could if I needed to, but I only would if it were an emergency... it'd be different if he was at his office). I knew you all would understand and let me vent here. And I do feel a little better being able to freak out a little in the safety of other Disney fanatics. ;) So thank you for bearing with me and I'll keep you updated on what we decide to do!

Hope is all works out! Sending a little :shamrock: luck your way!

BTW - Princess Ashlyn looks soooooooooooooooo cute in her Cinderella dress!

Also, try calling the BBB for an appointment. I know they say the age is 3, but they took my daughter at age 2. She was turning 3 in three months, but it's still worth a shot if you want to do it.

Here's a little more luck................:shamrock::shamrock::shamrock::shamrock:

Thank you for the luck! It looks promising that everything will work out but we're still working on it. I'm not as stressed as I was the other day but I'm also not going to assume we're going on the (now) off chance that we're going to have to completely cancel the Disney trip. I'll keep everyone updated!

Thanks, she's definitely my little princess: Any time I get frustrated with her (I mean, she's definitely acting like a toddler nowadays! Terrible 2's and everything :rotfl:) and Aaron happens to be home, he shows me one of those pictures (I have one as my netbook background) and says "just think of her like this." :lmao: It's easy to forget in that moment that she is usually cute and sweet!

Thanks for the hint for BBB. There's a chance that we'll be extending our trip (not the Disney part, just the Florida trip in general) so we'll be spending more than originally planned so it probably wouldn't be feasible for us even if they would take her. :( Oh well, I'm thinking we'll wait to do BBB when we have a longer trip and she's even just a year older and can enjoy it even more. :goodvibes If that ends up being a few months before she turns 3, though, I'll totally keep that in mind. Thanks so much!

Happy 4th of July!!!

I hope you all are having a great holiday weekend!! It's been a pretty relaxing weekend for us. Yesterday we went to have some ice cream and then head over to the craft fair (which was right next door to the ice cream shop). That was really nice. Tonight we are going to see a magician/comedian (mainly because Aaron volunteered to keep an eye on things... kinda undercover since he won't have to be in uniform) and then we'll head over to watch the fireworks. I'm interested to see how Ashlyn does... she's actually never seen fireworks.

So today marks 80 days until we go! :cool1: Technically I'm still not sure if we're going, but we probably will. And if we do, we'll be leaving the island a few days earlier than previously planned, but I'm just going with what we have for now. :rotfl: I can always change it up when we find out officially what's going on.

Oh, I also wanted to mention that I started up a little Disney blog! Nothing major right now but I just thought it would be fun to write any random thoughts I have or news I come across, even when my little PTR is over. :) If you're interested in checking it out, it is Disney In Our Blood.

Okay, here we go!!!

86 Days: I saw this Boo Boo Bunny over at the Family Fun website and thought it would be cool to make our very own towel animal! Okay, before I post the picture, please keep in mind that I had to use what I had. I didn't even think to order pom poms, I ended up not having the right sized googly eyes, and you can't buy that stuff on island. So my little towel bunny is kinda funky. :lmao: We still like it, though.

85 Days: Awhile ago Ashlyn made these butterflies:

IMG_4996.jpg

I gave her a coffee filter and she painted it (we did 3 different colors). When it dried I just folded it and put a pipe cleaner around it. We had wanted to hang them in her room but just never got around to it. So I put it down as one of our days! She loves looking at her butterflies and it looks really nice in her room.

IMG_4994.jpg

84 Days: Honestly, we didn't do our activity for this day. I was going to take Ashlyn out and buy her a balloon because she loves them so much, but I was really sick for a few days (close to a week) so we didn't leave the house. Hmm.... we should get her one while we're out tomorrow. Anyway...
83 Days: Already time to color the July calendar!!!

IMG_4987.jpg

82 Days: It's Friday and you know what that means... story time at the library!
81 Days: We made Mickey rice krispie treats this day. We dipped the ears in chocolate and added some sprinkles, too.

IMG_4989.jpg

I think Ashlyn liked them. :goodvibes

IMG_4991.jpg

80 Days: Happy 4th of July!! And we are deciding what supplies and other things to order for Ashlyn's birthday party. I'm going to be ordering it all next paycheck. We'll probably get it in plenty of time, but sometimes (though not often) packages get sent somewhere else (I had ordered cookie cutters a little while ago and they were sent to Tikrit, Iraq before coming here) so I want to make sure that even if that happens, everything will be here by her party.

Oops, I almost forgot!! Here was our countdown chain when we first started at 100 days:

IMG_4942.jpg

And here it is at 80 days left! :cloud9:

Catching up since I've been away! You've done a lot in the last week and a half!

Ashlyn looks so cute in the Cinderella dress. Too adorable, I love when she's looking at her shoes!

I hope everything is working out for your trip. That stinks that the doctor is out of the office that day. What are the odds, right?

I did not know about the towel animals, so I'm happy to hear that! Thanks for the link!

I always love all the food. How is Minnie's Bow-tique? I've thought about buying it to have something girly for DD, but she won't watch TV yet.

Great rice crispy treats! I need to get some disney baking going on here!

Hope you had a wonderful 4th of July!

Oh, and I bookmarked your blog. Can't wait to look at it!

Now that summer's here and everyone is super busy, I started feeling like I was talking to myself. I started thinking that maybe I said something wrong. :rotfl:

Oh I just love those pictures. Aaron can't get over them, either. He shows them off whenever he can. :cloud9:

I know, right?! That's what I was thinking. And thanks, I have high hopes that everything will work out. I'm hoping we'll find out tomorrow.

I'm glad I could help! I was pretty excited to read that.

I think Minnie's Bow-tique and all the episodes on that DVD are really cute. Ashlyn LOVES them and always asks to watch it. She gets the biggest smile when Mickey comes on the screen. :goodvibes

Great rice crispy treats! I need to get some disney baking going on here!

I want to try more Disney-related baking things, but I'm not sure what. I also have a bunch of other new desserts I want to try out so I might just wait a little bit to do more Disney baking.

Hope you had a wonderful 4th of July!

It was wonderful, thank you. It was the first time Ashlyn had ever seen fireworks (at Disney we were always back at the hotel by that time for her bedtime and last 4th of July we just decided not to take her) and she really liked them. After about 10 minutes, though, she got kinda bored and sleepy so she was ready to go. :cutie: How was yours?

Oh, and I bookmarked your blog. Can't wait to look at it!

I hope you like it! There's not much to it yet, but I've been having fun so far. I saw your comment... thanks for leaving one and checking it out! I totally would have put up a post about the Toy Story books if I had the blog back then.

Haha. I'm still here! You know, except when I wasn't...

We've been doing disney cooking, just recipes from the parks, but the baking is much cuter and more fun!

Our 4th was good...we didn't go to the fireworks because we're watching my grandmother and that wouldn't have worked out. But I could see some from one of our upstairs windows so I showed the kids from there. They were pretty unimpressed though. We were going to make smores, but the kids fell asleep early. Maybe tonight.

I'm loving it so far! I've got it bookmarked, so I'll be checking back! I saw my brother-in-law reading that kohl's post while I was away from the computer  so I suspect they'll be going to kohl's too! Gotta appreciate a disney-scoop!

Oh no!! I sure hope the trip will work out. :sad2:

Great to know about the towel animals. We brought the ones home from our cruise but not the ones from Disney. I guess if we get one that DD loves, than we will have to think about keeping it.

Great updates! All the cute activites you are doing must really help the trip countdown go faster!

Thanks! I'm sure the trip will work out. I honestly can't think of a reason it won't anymore, so I'm happy about that. :cool1:

I would have loved to keep our last towel animal (it was our first, too). We just had so much fun with it, putting it in different spots for the Mousekeeper to find (and she did the same) it would have been a cool souvenier. Definitely next time we get one!

The activities really are helping with not going crazy counting down the days til our trip! Our calendar got a little screwed up because now we're counting down to a Saturday before instead of the Tuesday we were originally planning on, but now the calendar is just a visual of our progress and I look on our list on the computer of what our activity is going to be. I still need to tweak it a little bit. :)

Hi! I saw your post mentioning me in Drmom's PTR and saw your think so I thought I'd come on over! I'm just in time to see the ending PTR stages!! I'm heading back to read through everything!

I hope the doctor's appt works out. How dare he have a conference that might interfere with the trip!!!! ;)

Amanda
