Princess Ashlyn's Birthday Trip - That's 2 For 2! September 2010 PTR (Started my TR!)

Hi! I saw your post mentioning me in Drmom's PTR and saw your think so I thought I'd come on over! I'm just in time to see the ending PTR stages!! I'm heading back to read through everything!

I'm heading over to yours, too, and doing some catching up! :thumbsup2

I hope the doctor's appt works out. How dare he have a conference that might interfere with the trip!!!! ;)

Amanda

I know, right? He should know that I had Disney plans and be available! :rotfl: He really is an incredible doctor. Everyone there is wonderful, actually. In all seriousness, obviously the doctor's appointment is the important thing. There is still that possibility that we will only be going for the appointment and not be able to make Disney, but at this point it would actually surprise me if everything doesn't work out. So far things are looking pretty good and we're going along with our planning as we had, well, planned! :dance3:

Wow, I didn't know about the towel animals. That would be a cool conversation piece to keep in my daughter's room on her shelf. We got three of them last year. Watch..........this year we won't get any! :lmao: Thanks for the GREAT tip! :thumbsup2

I know, that's exactly what I thought... now that I know we can keep the towel animals we won't get any our next trip. :rotfl:

Well, I know I've been away for awhile, but I'm going to be working on an update once Ashlyn is done with lunch!! :)

Sorry I've been away so long!!! For those of you who stuck in there with me... hi! :wave2: We've been so busy, which I know everyone has been! First off, we're pretty much going on with our trip as planned. There is no sign that we will have to cancel! :cool1: I mean, of course there's always a chance something will happen along the way (seems to happen every now and then with the military... I'm sure it's the same with any job, really), but nothing that we can predict! So I'm excited about that. :goodvibes

So... I guess I will update you on our countdown calendar!! I think we left off at 80 days, so...

79 Days: Aaron and I sat down and decided on what to do for Ashlyn's birthday cake so I could order what I needed for as many people as we're inviting. We bought a castle cake pan and I'm going to make two of them (one in Sleeping Beauty castle colors and one in Cinderella castle colors) and then two mini princess cakes (with the doll picks)... one Cinderella and one Aurora.

78 Days: Color in a Bag art project! I found it at the Family Fun website. Ashlyn had a blast! It's pretty much colored cornstarch in a sealed bag to squish together.

(Sorry they are so blurry... after I took the one of Ashlyn I realized my camera was on the wrong setting. :headache: Oh well!

77 Days: This day was National Father Daughter Take a Walk Together Day. Aaron worked late, though, so it didn't happen. :( We're planning on all going walking together more often, though, so we'll make up for it. :)

76 Days: This day I decided to go ahead and sit down to reorganize the countdown calendar since we'll be leaving on a Saturday instead of a Tuesday. We'll still be going to Disney on the same day, but we're now counting down to our vacation in general since we won't have the countdown calendar with us in Florida. ;) I didn't do much with the calendar itself. I just took down some extra links and we go by the list on our computer for what we're doing that day. So today turned into 73 days! :woohoo:

72 Days: Since this was Friday, it was story time at the library and time to get some new books.

71 Days: This was our latest movie night! We did The Sword in the Stone! For our craft we made shields. I cut them out, colored the trim, and put our initials on them (Aaron had to work that day so I made his). Oh, and put some jewel type stickers on the points. Then Ashlyn colored hers (and she added a tiny bit of artistic flair on Aaron's and mine, too). I had stickers out for her to decorate it with, but she didn't want to.

For dinner we got KFC. It was what food I wanted for the theme plus easier so I was all for it! :thumbsup2 We had:

Kay's Chicken Legs
Magical Mashed Potatoes
Wart's Corn
Sword in the Stone Biscuits

We had sparkling apple cider "mead" in "goblets."

IMG_5072.jpg

For dessert we had pretzel wands! I dipped pretzel sticks (I would have preferred rods but they don't sell them here so sticks it was!) in chocolate and sprinkled with, well, sprinkles!

IMG_5070.jpg

We watched the movie while eating our feast. :)

I will continue in the next post!

70 Days: Fingerprint Buddies art project! I've seen this around the internet, but drew my inspiration from the Family Fun website (can you tell I searched for projects on that site to fill up our calendar? :rotfl2:). Aaron agreed to do the fingerprints as well so we had a Fingerprint Buddies Family! I decided to print out a picture with a barn and a lake for our little families to live. :) I  how it turned out. I want to do something special with it (frame it and put it up or something) but I'm not sure what yet.

IMG_5076.jpg

69 Days: Tell Disney-related jokes! :rotfl: I just googled Disney jokes and told a few to Aaron while he was playing a game on the other computer (Ashlyn's a little young to participate in this one for now). A lot of them were pretty cute!

68 Days: National French Fry Day! To celebrate I made sure we had french fries with our dinner. I also made a special dessert.

IMG_5075.jpg

I made a pound cake, cut part of it up into sticks and poured melted red candy melts on top! Very simple but it was really good. Aaron told me after we ate it that he was just expecting, well, pound cake and candy melts. Which he expected to be yummy, but it was better than he was anticipating. He said it was greater than the sum of its parts.

67 Days: (side note: *whew* I didn't realize how far behind I was in catching you guys up! :rotfl:) We were going to play Disney Scene-It this evening, but Aaron found out he had boards to do so we didn't play. And we've been super busy since so we haven't had a chance to make this up yet. I plan to this week, though!!

66 Days: Start our "If You Take Your Daughter To Disney" book. You know that "If You Give..." book series? The most famous one is "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie." We love that series in this house. We thought it would be a really cute idea to write one based on us going to Disney. I started it, but am not finished. We are going to create a photo book on Shutterfly or some site and put our story in it with our vacation photos. :goodvibes I am so excited about it!

65 Days: This was a Friday... you know what that means! Story time at the library. :) Ashlyn loves story time. We have it twice a week now with the Summer Reading Program.

64 Days: We were going to take a nice family walk together this morning, but it started raining. :( Oh well, we go walking and stuff together all the time so it's not like it was a one time thing. ;)

63 Days: Aaron's birthday is on Tuesday so we had a get together this day with some friends at the beach. It was a lot of fun and all the kids that came had a blast! It was raining on and off the whole day, but stayed dry during the party, so that was a blessing!

62 Days: TODAY! Today is Marine Day so we're going to do some sort of craft or read a book, but I'm not sure what yet. I'm going to get it set up while Ashlyn takes a nap. But I do have countdown calendar shots to compare! Here we were back at 100 days:

And here we are at 62 Days! :woohoo:

Thanks! We have definitely been busy... plus all the other things that we've been doing that aren't on our little calendar. This weekend was PACKED with stuff so today is all about catching up on cleaning and getting back into our routine. :laundy: Not fun, but has to be done!! :) I hope you had a great weekend!

wow when it starts at 100 days, 62 days looks really short!

You've been busy! That fingerprint thing is so very cute!

I love the idea of "if you take your daughter to disney..." that is adorable! We love those books too!

I forgot, when I was looking at your last update, I saw your wands and I thought, "J.J. would love those" and then he climbed up in my lap and pointed at them and said, "I want to make those, Mommy." Haha.

Oh, and the "french fries" are really funny. I bet they were delicious!

I know, I am so excited that we are 2 months away from leaving! It sounds like no time at all when you say 2 months! :woohoo:

Thanks, I was actually really proud of my "If You Take Your Daughter To Disney..." idea. :lmao: We have the ending taken care of but not a whole lot else. I think a lot of it will be written after we sit down and look at pictures, but I'm going to try and get a few ideas down. Now everytime I read Ashlyn one of those books I'm writing our book in my head. :rotfl:

Awww, how cute! They were so simple and I think they'd be extra cute and fun if you use the rods instead of the sticks. Either way, though, we all enjoyed them!

Oh, and the "french fries" are really funny. I bet they were delicious!

They were really good and I found a super easy "cobbler" recipe for the leftovers. You just mix some pie filling (we used cherry) with a little almond extract and a bit of water. Pour it over some cubed pound cake and microwave until warm. Top with some cool whip! It was really good, too.

See above! :)

Whew, you've been busy! I love so many of your projects but especially your movie night, very cute!

Thank you! I had so much fun planning it. Our next night is A Bug's Life. I have the basics planned, just need to think of the details. :goodvibes

Oh, so we did do a couple of projects for Marine Day. Ashlyn's snack when she woke up was a dolphin made from a banana. Then I helped her make a fish out of a paper plate. Now she is happy watching The Little Mermaid (her favorite). This actually happened by accident. Ashlyn likes to help me take the laundry out of the dryer. She hands everything to me so I can fold them and put them in the laundry basket to take upstairs. Well, she came across her Ariel beach towel and wanted to hug it and carry it around. The only way I could get her to give it up was to tell her that we would watch the movie after the laundry was done. She gave it right up! :lmao: The really cute thing is that she noticeably hurried up so we could watch the movie quicker. :cutie:

Great updates! Ya'll have been busy! ;)

That countdown chain is getting shorter!! How exciting! :)

Thanks! I've definitely been trying to keep us busy. :)

I know, I get so excited whenever I take a picture of the chain to put on here. I never really notice how short it's really getting until I compare it to when it was 100 days away!

sounds like you have been super busy!!! My kids at school made the same Farm Art project. We didn't do the frogs but those are super cute!!! I might have to steal the frog idea for one day!

How cool that they got to do that in school. We had a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to doing it again when Ashlyn's a little older. :)

So I might be the only one who didn't know this, but since my last TR when someone asked if I kept the towel animal they put in our room, it has sat in the back of my mind... can you keep the towel animals if you are lucky enough to get one? Turns out you can!!!! It was addressed on the WDW Mom's Panel. Here's a link to it if you're interested:

Wow! I would never have thought of that.

I just finished catching up...
first of all your daughter is so beautiful! Her eyes are to die for!
Second, I love all the activities you are doing. You are making your time so fun!
And I love all your movie night ideas and baking. Seriously, those frog pops (and all the other ones) were amazing.:worship:
The Hollywood cookies were too.. love that presentation!
I think I am going to have to use some of your ideas on our movie nights!

Awww, you're so sweet to say those things! Thank you!

I know, I'm her mom and I can't believe those eyes sometimes! They are very expressive, too. It's so funny to see that little glint of mischief come into her eyes before she goes running off to do something she probably isn't supposed to.
