Well, I've managed to book my first cruise ever! We'll be on the Wonder as she heads to Alaska on August 16th!

I was all set to start dialing just before 8AM, and was interrupted by a coworker. It took me until 8:40 to get through on one of the 4 toll free numbers I was trying - I had been getting busy signals until then! Then, after a 2 hour and 5 minute hold, I got through and had my cruise booked and deposit paid within 7 minutes! We got exactly what we wanted ... and it ended up costing less than I thought it would.

(Okay, maybe having a TA do this would have been easier, but I actually got a lot of work done while on hold! No one bothered me since I had the phone to my ear!)

We may wait and see if they are sailing to Alaska in 2012, but I did pay the deposit and we are wait listed for cat R and S in which case we could all be together. We'll see, Aug 2011 is very far away!

I was able to modify my existing reservation online to change cabins, however I have a question.

When I select modify online, I was only given a couple of cabins to choose from. However, when I put a specific cabin number in which is within my category but was not listed as available, I was able to confirm it.

I thought online would list all cabins available in a category so I am concerned that the cabin I selected may not really be available. Of course, I also thought I wouldn't have received a confirmation if that cabin was not available.

Does anyone have some experience with changing cabins online that can put my mind at ease? Thanks so much!

It has always done this. If you were able to pull it up by entering the number then you have the room. It should show on your confirmation too.

The price forPc 2A 1c (4) was 9250 for a cat 7A. Alot more than we wanted but should be worth it.

That is a good price comparing it to the 2008 PC repos.

DU is absolutely fantastic. They book Cat 4 for me early morning and then my adult DS tells me that he will not be available for the 2011 Alaska cruise. What a bummer! so I send a request to DU to change to Cat 5 and its already done. Wow! I'm sold. Thanks DU

I've used DU before and was very happy. Bob Varley was my TA there, miss him dearly! Especially today...it's 11pm and I STILL haven't heard from DU, I'm REALLY disappointed. I would like to know the financial details of what was booked on behalf. I went onto the DCL website and I can see the bookings but I have no idea how much they're for. I see the cabin is an adjoining cabin which I didn't want and I called DCL to change it and they told me I had to have the TA do it. ARGH!!! At this point I'm really wishing I booked myself because I was able to get online and get quotes at 10am. I know it was a crazy busy day for them but I would have expected to have received an email letting me know the financial details of my TWO ressies by now!!!! So bummed!

The deposit was a HUGE shocker!! But as for the price going down, I really doubt it, because then they would have to refund all of the price watchers out there...and I honestly unfortunately don't see the deposit going down again soon.

Tough decision, I know it was for us!

Unfortunately that was the deal breaker for us. We researched other cruise lines and found a glacier route and the same route as Disney with a oceanview for about $3000.00 less. I love the mouse but have to think about value. Our room on DCL would be a inside stateroom. I still am going to check prices when we go on our bounceback in November.
