Priceline question

I am in need of a car rental at PIE for this weekend and the prices are really high (have been for months) and I can't use Budget, the only one that had a decent deal due to the fact that I have to return the car before the counter opens at 8.

If I use Priceline do you have to put in your time of pick up and return? If not then they will have no way of knowing that I can't use Budget correct? So if I win a car through Budget I'm screwed, right?

Ugh, this is the worst year I 've ever had trying to find a car rental! Flying into St. Petersburg has thrown us all out of whack, I don't think I'll do it again.

PL asks for your pickup and drop off times. Should you "win" budget promptly contact PL.

Do you think they would let me cancel it if I contact them should I get Budget? I went through the sign up process to a certain point and saw that they do ask for pickup/drop off times, so one would think that would knock Budget out of the equation but who knows.

Guess I will just have to bite the bullet and hope for the best....

Priceline does not allow cancellations. Priceline will NOT accept a bid if they are unable to accomodate your pick up or drop off times.

Have you tried Hotwire? I'm getting $19 a day for a 10AM 20APR2012 pick up with a 630AM 23APR2012 drop off. $83.87 all in.

I tried Hotwire and got an 8 day rental through Hertz for $216, which is about half what I was getting with all the codes etc. on the individual sites. I am so relieved to have a car LOL!

I was hoping for Alamo because we love the kiosk but this will definitely work, I was getting $4xx.xx rates before!

I looked at the PIE website and it looks like the Budget counter normally opens at 6:30am. Also, don't most rental agencies have an off-hours drop box where keys can be dropped? I feel like I have seen lock-boxes at the counters at many of the airports I've been through for situations like yours.

Yes, Alamo and National and Hertz have after-hours drop boxes, but Live Chat told me that Budget does not allow it. They open at 8am I thought, on the day I'm returning (Sunday). Either way, I need to return it at 5 am so they are closed for sure.

I'm just so relieved to have this done. Should have used HotWire a month ago!
