I've used Priceline several times for hotels and have been very happy with my results. Has anyone used them for air tickets? Did you 'name your own price' or use their already discounted stated price?

With air tickets so cheap right now, I'd love to 'name my own price', which is suppose to be around 40% off current prices, and pay less than $100 each for 3 tickets. Traveling CMH (Columbus, OH) to MCO.

I used priceline for my last trip to Florida about 2 years ago. I had to try a couple of times before my bid was accepted. I think I ended up paying $80+ fees/taxes for roundtrip from my local airport. It is a small airport that doesn't usually get the discounted fares. It was a good deal. One bad thing is you can't pick the times you fly. We added another day onto our trip just in case we got bad times. I would use Priceline again if I couldn't find a good deal elsewhere.

Check out biddingfortravel.com and betterbidding.com

2 excellent resources for priceling bidding. ::yes::

I've used PL in the past for tix. Almost always gotten a good deal. BUT you need to be VERY flexible. I learned the hard way to wait until close to the trip to start bidding. The first time I used PL I bid on tix 7 months out. Well I got $79 RT rate. Had to leave Newark 10pm layover in NC for 5 hours.....it was a nightmare and the return was no better LOL! The worst part was that about 3 mos. before the trip airline rates dropped and I could have picked up tix at $129 RT NON-STOP. Oh well, live & learn. (This happened BEFORE I found biddingfortravel.)

Anyway, GOOD LUCK!

You just described what I fear...a late start and a long layover. DH would have a fit if that was what we ended up with! I did notice all the flights with a 'preset' price left Columbus around 9pm. Two hour flight, some straight thru. Problem is, I'm a night owl and he's not.

I wonder if that's the norm (late hour start) when buying air travel through Priceline?
