Has anyone pricelined for thier room in Orlando, and what rate did you get?

Yes, definately look at the 2 sites that are listed above. We have had some fantastic deals using Priceline for Orlando in the past. Have stayed at some places that we would not be able to afford if not for Priceline.

I would probably not bid below a 2.5 in that area tho...

Alwassy bid insultingly as opposed to fairly when using Hotwire, Priceline etc.

You don't want to find the total price above what a hotel next door mighc charge for just walking in, because you were assigned a hotel that has extra charges like resort fees.

i got the hyatt regecy grand cyress for $50 a night, i have also used it for san francisco and got a really good deal about $180 less per night than what the website asked.

:cool1:

Just got a 3* at the Orlando Airport; staying at the Marriott for $57 including taxes and fee. Now I have to see if I can get a room with 2 beds, non-smoking! I think I'll FAX the hotel directly.

Biddingfortravel is currently having service issues. PL makes the most sense for a resort or an airport hotel. There are so many good deals that using PL for a 3* hotel near Disney doesn't always make sense. Book conventionally and you can base your decsion on a free refrigerator, free breakfast or even a resort fee. A resort fee, the PL fee and a free breakfast can often wipe out any savings.

The resort hotels that seem to come up are Wyndham, Hilton (both DTD), Gaylord Palms, MOWC, rarely S/D,Omni and Hyatt Cypress. Some hotels charge for parking and/or have a resort fee.

Hotels seem to go between $65-$125. As your bid is rejected just add a zone that doesn't offer a resort hotel and increase your bid. Hilton and Wyndham are probably the most common resort hotels.

We're staying at the Gaylord Palms for the THIRD time using a priceline bid. I am so spoiled by this hotel that we never stay onsite. They have marble walk-in showers, double vanities, balconies overloooking the interior atrium that is filled with lush tropical plants, koi ponds, allegators –– even a sailboat, Spanish castle and a swamp! It's so much fun that there's plenty to do even on rainy days. DH has a conference in Orlando and we're just going to bum around the hotel, hang by the pool and watch the fish for a couple of days while he's working.

My bids on Priceline have been $83, $90 and $105 for this resort.

On the other hand, I booked Hotel 71 in Chicago (off the Mag Mile) and got bumped to a waaaayyy lesser hotel because they were overbooked. I complained to the managment and on several sites (it was a new hotel) and they ended up giving me two free nights. It was a new hotel and I guess they didn't want the bad publicity (I work for a magazine). Also had the same thing happen in Scottsdale, Ariz., but this time Priceline refunded one of the two nights because by their classification, the hotel the original resort bumped us to was a 3* (it was a Raddisson) rather than resort and I had bid on a resort.

Just do your homework and don't be afraid to speak up.

Over the years I have gotten.
The Doubletree World Gate $39
The Renaissance World Gate (same as above) $45
The Rosen Center $39
The Gaylord Palms 95$

You have to be comfortable with the whole process and ready to accept what you get. It can be a bit nerve wracking sometimes but also addicting...sort of like gambling!!!!
In any case I only do it for my arrival night in Orlando or sometimes when on the road in other locations. I will not use it for my whole resort stay in orlando or Anaheim as I like to control where I am at.

You don't get to choose the room type on PL???? How do you know if you have enough space for your family? Please tell me how this works :) Thanks

Hotwire allows you to specify the number of guests. PL specifies you're bidding on double occupancy. Almost all Orlando hotels will give you two double beds, if your family is 5 you should bid on 2 rooms. Some cities, like NY, hotels may give you a room that will only sleep 2 and must bid on 2 rooms if you have more than 2 people. I got a room in NYC with one double bed. There wasn't enough room to even open a suitcase on the floor. There was not room for a roll-away or a crib even if one was available.

Biddingfortravel, when it gets back up, does a good job telling you what cities it's very dangerous to assume you'll get a room that'll sleep more than 2.
