I just used priceline for a car rental (an SUV for 13 days) and Hertz accepted my offer of $27.00 a day that is a 50% Discount off there normal prices and it is $^)>)) cheaper than my best price ( ALAMO THROUGH TRAVELOCITY) with airport fees my charge is only $450.00 for the 13 days and its with Hertz. On my last two trips we used Alamo and I was left with a bad taste in my mouth so I was looking for another rent a car company.

I used Priceline also and for the same price a day as you I also got Hertz. My DH is really mad at me because it's not at the airport! Now we have to lug everything and three little ones on a shuttle to Hertz. I had signed up for the Emerald Club with National but knew I could do way better on Priceline.

thanks for the info I was deciding whether to use them or not there is a positive that I have heard of for cars.

I've gotten Hertz a couple of times via Priceline, and although I am not a "shuttle person," I was amazed at the convenience. We just used them this past weekend, and we were pulling out of their parking lot in our car within 15 minutes of stepping onto the shuttle bus. It's taken us longer at Alamo onsite sometimes! Their buses are always right there waiting, and both times we've used them, we've been upgraded. If the price is right, I don't think you will be disapointed, even with having to go offsite.

You're right about Alamo. It takes forever to get out of the airport. And while you do have to get on the shuttle for Hertz in order to get your car with the on site you have to walk across the street to the parking deck then wait for the elavator then walk through the parking deck until you can find your car. That has been annoying to me but what bothers me more is the service alamo provides, I was looking for any excuse not to use them. The only reason I have used them is their prices but that shouldn't mean shabby service. I am expecting better service with Hertz.

We get Alamo through Priceline at lot. They used to be good, but the last time we used them, their service had declined. Before, when they were busy late at night, they had enough counter people to handle it. Last time, the queue was almost full. When I arrived a few minutes before midnight, there were three people working the counter, but at midnight two of them left. It took us an hour to get out of there. I am hoping they improve because I'm sure we'll get them via Priceline again. I might try the B side next time because the person working A at that time of night tries to trick you into taking the insurance.
So far so good with Hertz. We got there at midnight, and there were two people working the counter, waiting on customers. A third person came out to wait on us when he saw us standing in line. Insurance push was not bad at all, and our car only had 250 miles on it. It was a loaded Ford Focus. Of course, even being that new, it didn't want to start the next morning, but I've had the same issue with every Ford I've owned. They're slow to wake up, especially when damp!
