What is the cheapest price you have gotten from Priceline for your car rental out of MCO?

Honestly I've found that many times priceline does not help at all with rental car costs. If anything from my past experience they've been higher than what I'd get if I just went straight through the rental car company website. If you don't care who you rent the car from or what make/model give hotwire a shot. You can still pick what type of vehicle but won't know who you're renting through until after you purchase. I rented from them for my trip to AZ in a few days and got a "Premium" vehicle (Buick Lucerne, Maxima, or similar) for 5 days and it was under $200.

We were able to get a mid size car for the first week of June for $13.00/day thru Priceline.

I got my bid of $11/day for a compact with Priceline and then I upgraded $2/day cause I decided I did want a mid-size - so $13/day for us too for the end of June. This was a much better rate than I had been getting.

Hi,

How did you upgrade? Did they offer an upgrade when they confirmed the price, or can you upgrade later?

Thanks,
sam

They give you the option to upgrade after they approve your bid.

I just got a minivan from Priceline for $17/day not 5 minutes ago. Rental dates 5/13 to 5/24 (11 days). With fees, total cost was $299. Rental agency is Alamo.

Ironically, I had a reservation with Alamo booked thru their website from a few weeks ago for $414 for the same car and time period. Just saved $115 with Priceline.

That's awesome! Did you try lower bids and were rejected or was $17 your initial bid? I put in for a minivan for $10 (not expecting it to be a serious bid) and they told me $17 was a good bid, $18 was a great bid. I'm looking for 11 days also and $300 is about what I want to pay, if not lower.

My original bid was $16/day, which was rejected but I accepted the counteroffer of $17/day.

If you're going to try Priceline for a minivan rental sometime in the next month, I'd say $16-$17 is a good place to start.

I got a standard size for 7 days 5/30 thru 6/6 $12 day total with tax 146 standard is a pontiac G6 or similar. I have not been able to come close to that price. I originally reserved with National with discounts a midsize for 200 inluding tax, I think I got a great deal

I would like to give priceline a try but I'm afraid I'll get stuck with hertz who is on off sight agency right?

I have a mini van for 10 days tax and all for 370 with Alamo is that a good deal? or would you give Priceline a try for something better?

Last year i paid about 250 for 9 or 10 days (standard suv), those were the days!!!!

I would give Priceline a try, especially when you can probably save >$100 on the rental. Like I said in my previous post on this thread, I just scored a minivan on Priceline last night for 11 days for $299 total, on Alamo. I doubt you'll get the car from Hertz at that price - most likely it'll come from Alamo.

You should also consider whether saving $100+ would be worth it even if the agency is offsite. For me it definitely was.

Are you saying that Hertz usually doesnt go that low for their cars.

Im thinking I'd like to have a standard suv or a minivan. Does Hertz rent those type of vehicles? which one would you ask for to get the best chance of not getting hertz? Our dates are may 28th till June 7th.

That's what I'm saying. Hertz and Avis are the largest, and tend to be highest-priced, rental agencies out there. In my experience, I haven't gotten a car from Hertz since I've been using Priceline, but others' experiences may vary. I suppose it also depends on where you're renting from.

There's really nothing you can do to improve your chances of NOT getting a particular car rental company when you bid. If the location of the agency is more important to you than saving what may be a substantial amount of money on a rental, then Priceline definitely isn't the way to go.
