price of buffets for 2008...anyone think they're getting ridiculous?

WOW! That is much more than I am willing to pay.

As the prices keep going up, the selections decreasing and the quality :confused3 we will be dining differently in the future. For the first time in 10 years, we will be dining off site. :scared1:

When I start renting cars again, going out to dinner and then driving back to the resort for some wine in my room that I purchased offsite, then I know I have hit the wall.

I am resisting, it's been great not having to rent a car.

PERSONAL OPINION: It does not fail to amaze me how people will complain about the pricing, then go ahead and spend for the item/activity/meal. If one complains, then one should have the gumption to follow through.

Maybe they don't want to disappoint the kids by foregoing that character buffet. So they're going to pay it, but they don't have to LIKE it. At any rate, anybody can complain.

I do agree that the more diners who sign up anyway, the higher the prices will go, but I think everybody knows that.

I agree. I cannot justify over 30 bucks for breakfast in any way. I know we stay in FW, but my son is getting old enough now to appreciate the character meals and now I just can't afford them. What a shame.

We are going during free dining, but paying extra for the deluxe plan. We wouldn't be doing the dining plan at all otherwise, and with character buffets at 34/person, wouldn't be doing many TS OOP either. We have a local sushi buffet here that I consider pretty expensive at 28/person. We eat there once every few months as a treat- just had dinner there last night, in fact, since DH has to work over NYE!

IMO WDW should never ever EVER offer free dining again. I am tired of paying for the perks of others.

To get free dining, you have to give up room rate discounts like triple A for example. Disney knows they need to discount their hotel rooms in Sept. because you have so many negative aspects of that season- hot, school just started, hurricane time in Florida.

Free dining in Sept is usually just a way to re-word the same discount that they normally offer on the hotel rooms, so it sounds more spectacular :rolleyes1 :scratchin :coffee: pixiedust:

I can get a $500 discount on the room rate.... or "free dining" (which is worth about $500) if I pay full rack-rate for the room...but it sounds so much more impressive to have free dining! Disney is playing word games.

I don't think this promotion is driving up the cost of food.
Just the popularity of Disney World in general seems to be the main factor.
