Price for 2 BR the same as 2 Poly Studios?

I received quotes to rent a 2 BR at BLT and for 2 studios at Poly and was surprised the cost difference wasn't greater (only $200). The price per point of the studios was 18 and 2 BR at BLT is 16. I have a good relationship with an owner who is planning to try to secure the remainder of our trip at the 7 month mark for BLT 2 BR at 15 per point. My question is, is it even comparable? 2 Poly studios vs. a 2 BR at BLT?

That can not be correct, the lowest number of points for a BLT 2 BR, in the lowest season for standard view is 37 points weekdays.

For the same week, BLT 2 BR $15 per point $4,368 versus 2 studios $18 per point $4,248.

There's no fixed "price" for any resort for DVC rentals. What is fixed is the number of points required for a room. What owners charge to rent their points is up to them.

$4368 isn't divisible by 15. You get 291.2 points. $4248 divided by 18 is 236.

Yes, sorry this was $16 per point at 273 points ($4,368). I just didn't think the price difference made sense. I thought Poly would be quite a bit more less.

I wouldn't call a 2 bedroom villa equal to 2 studios for that price difference. If you're spending $4K + then I'd go for the 2 bedroom given the choice (or am I misunderstanding the question)?!

A couple years ago when Poly first opened, my family of 4 stayed in 2 Poly studios for 3 nights and then moved to a BLT dedicated 2 bedroom for a week. The point comparison between the 2 was negligible, but the difference in the villas was huge. For my family, there was no comparison - we much prefer the 2 bedroom at BLT. For almost the same amount of points, you get a full kitchen, full living area, washer and dryer and the ability to walk to the magic kingdom in the BLT 2 bedroom.

We will never book 2 poly studios for our family again. We will always stay in a 2 bedroom villa instead.

No, Thank You! That was exactly my question. I've never stayed in the Polynesian studios, although we have stayed in a standard room. I know they are huge and brand new, but wondered if there was any reason someone would choose that over a 2 BR at BLT, which I've also never stayed it. Clearly, my instinct was correct to go with the 2 BR.

Poly studios are among the most expensive on property. For a weeknight in mid January, not a holiday, Poly is 16/20 (SV/LV), similar to VGF (17/20). By compare, AKV Savannah is 14, BCV is 15, Saratoga is 11 or 13. The newer resorts are more expensive nightly.

Thank you! Just looking for reassurance. My family LOVES the Poly and I just needed reassurance this was the best choice!

And that is the very reason why some DVC owners will do 2 studios instead of a 2BR. They bought Poly points with a large family, or they love Poly and don't cook on vacation.

You can do a reality check at David's DVC rental site. https://www.dvcrequest.com/cost-calculator.asp
I picked a random week in September and it appeared that the 2BR BLT and 2 studios at Poly were indeed very close.

Another nuance when renting: many owners and also David's will charge a premium for booking during the home resort period (11 months to right before 7 months). You can get points cheaper at 7 months, but there is a greater risk that your dates will be sold out.

The poly will NOT have a full kitchen, laundry, real beds, poly has pull out queen and drop down bunk, you will also have about 300 less sq footage and no place to store your clothes and 1 less full bathroom at the Poly. Also lots of noise from the ferry boats starting at 5:30 am.

We were not bothered by ferry boat horns at the Poly last summer. That may depend on where you are staying - probably more likely with a lake view. But not ALL villas will have this problem. YMMV.
