Price bridging with Undercover Tourist tickets?

I bought our tickets a little over a year ago from UT - 10-day base tickets with WPF&M. We used them at a water park and AK, then decided to add park hoppers and hop to Epcot. We added the hoppers at Epcot. My understanding was that with bridging, we would only be charged the difference between the current gate price of what we had and what we were upgrading to. This would be about $25 per ticket plus tax. Instead, we were charged about $100 per ticket. Not wanting to screw up our plans, I paid what they asked. I feel like this can't be right. Should I have been eligible for price bridging, and if so, do I have any hope of going to guest services or calling/e-mailing Disney to get it corrected?? Thanks for any ideas!

I would go back to guest services, explain the situation and get your refund.

1. Should I have been eligible for price bridging, and if so,

2. do I have any hope of going to guest services

1. Correct. You ARE eligible.

2. Yes. Go to Guest Relations at any of the parks.
Do not give up if you are first denied the correct procedure and price.

There is little to excuse the very poor and inadequate training offered by Disney
CM's who do not understand the DISNEY-DESIGNED policy of "price-bridging."

Thanks! That is very reassuring. Does Disney make this policy available in writing somewhere or do people only know about it from experience? When I go to guest relations I'd love to have more to point to than the fact that knowledgable people on DISbpards said so! Thanks!

Hope you have your receipt to prove your were indeed charged $100 per ticket.

Do not point to anything on the DISboards.

Just tell them what you know:

That you figured what it should have cost to upgrade:
You should only be charged the difference between the current gate price of what you had and what you were upgrading to.

You were overcharged.

I wasn't going to cite Disboards but was hoping Disney had something concrete I could point to. I will just keep trying until I get a knowledgeable cast member. Thanks again!

That's the spirit!

Some of us here have been down this road many times with other DISer's who encountered upgrade problems.
Any who persevered, were successful in getting the correct price.

Don't give up!

Here is a link to the math...

$440.91 for what you had, $468.60 for what you upgraded to.

As for having Disney's written policy, not sure if that is readily available. It's just how it is done. I did a price bridge with 4 UT tickets back in April. They were bridged as I expected them to be, though the first CM did have to ask her manager how to accomplish some of it. Be insistent.

And if you do not have the receipt for the prior transaction, no concern, the transaction and costs are in Disney's computer system and they can easily reference it.

I seen on the Disney's Mom's Panel, one of the Moms explain the price bridging policy. And it was exactly explained the way all DISers know about.

ETA: The following quotation is incorrect. Please see posts further down with correct information.

Just an FYI also from AllEars:

Last week, we became aware of an apparent unannounced change in Disney's policy regarding tickets that were purchased from non-Disney sources. Several guests reported that when they attempted to add a day to a Magic Your Way ticket purchased from a non-Disney source, they were refused and told that they would have to spend more than $100 for a single-day ticket. Several tried at both their resort concierge and at a guest relations window and were told the same thing.

We called the Disney Ticketing office and and spoke to a supervisor. We were told that commencing with last week's price increase "third-party tickets can no longer be upgraded to passes at a pro-rated rate, have days added, or have options added at a discount." A different call to a second Disney source confirmed this, but added that this does not affect AAA.

On the basis of all that, we changed our ticket FAQ to reflect what we believed to be the new policy. We expect that we will learn of policy refinements as time passes, and will keep watching the situation and listening to our readers' comments about any problems or successes they have had in this area. - March 3, 2014

Update March 5, 2014: This apparent policy change affects tickets bought from third-party sellers by guests who may be hoping to avoid an increase in gate ticket prices. The change requires you to pay the difference between the old ticket and the new ticket first, before any upgrade. We have no information yet on how Disney will separate those ticket purchases from ones that were made prior to the latest increase or how many previous price increases may be affected.

Hopefully someone can clarify this?

Is this new policy truly being enforced? I bought five day tickets from Undercover Tourist for our August trip. I have been trying to decide if we should add an extra day to Disney or an extra day to Universal. We were leaning toward an extra Disney day because it was slightly cheaper.....but now I am not so sure.

AAAAAAAA! (Sorry, I've been down this path extensively already.)

The AllEars information has already been proven wrong, false, rumor, whatever. It is totally not true and validated by many on this board since the day they posted that, including myself. I can't believe they still have that information on their site.

There is a previous very long thread where many people have posted about price bridging working totally fine since the publication of that information on Allears.

ITA. There was a thread pages and pages and pages long, with DISer after DISer being able to upgrade with bridging. The issue with the AllEars report is what's always existed...some CMs simply don't know how to bridge, and when they don't, they say Disney's policy has changed, which is totally untrue. Sometimes it's hard to find a CM who knows how to do it, but it's alive and well.

I really wish AllEars would take that down. It's really misleading.

Glad to hear this! I have 6 day basic tickets I bought from UCT over a year ago. I need to plan a trip!

I have NO faith in AllEars anymore.:rolleyes2

Sorry for posting incorrect information.

This is the problem with these type of fansites (The DIS included). Sometimes, they post misguided information and it spreads like wildfire. Sorry.

It's definitely affected my overall impression of the site, although I still think it's a great resource, but I don't understand why they don't take that info down. They don't even have to explain or apologize, but just remove it.

Yes, as I said, they should just remove that info based on rumor.
