Pretty shocking comments from a CM at Epcot

Having re-read this thread, I don't think anyone said there weren't racists everywhere or that it was more prevalent in one place versus another.

The only thing I can discern is that someone said racists in a certain part of the country were more vocal about it.

I am not going to say this is true or false for places I haven't lived, but I do find that the more acceptable something is in a certain place, the more vocal the supporters there are. Simply because it is acceptable to be so. And just because people may be vocal, does not mean everyone thinks alike. Those that hold the "unpopular" opinion are more likely to be more careful about what they speak of and to whom.

Know what else is intolerable? People that keep coming on this thread and changing the subject from potholders to some trivial thing about being racial, etc. What is up with that, and is there anything more rude? :confused3

Just when I thought my day couldn't get any worse after finding out that I couldn't get a fastpass for Dumbo and I had to stand out there in the sun as if I hadn't paid thousands of dollars to be here. Stand in line...can you imagine?

It makes me want to throw my refillable cup at them, go to the resort where my car is parked and decide which of the 16 reservations I made appeal to me today. It has me quite flustered and has ruined my vacation.:sad1:

But if you throw your vintage mug at them what will you use for the next 20 trips?:confused3

Methinks spending a day pool hopping at the deluxes is just what the doctor ordered for you. Be sure to spread all your potholders out among as many hamocks and lounge chairs as possible.

Also, make sure to bring enough pot holders to spread out over several CS tables while you eat your home brought bologna sandwiches & hard boiled eggs for lunch. :lmao:

This. I don't usually think every little mistake should be reported, but this is a whopper of a mistake. Someone who works with the public has no right to express those opinions in a public manner.

i was looking for a post to come in on and this jumped out. two points. this wasnt a mistake. also, the cm has a right to his opinion. however (in all cases of racism and bigotry) the only person it should affect is the speaker. because everybody gets to confirm that he or she is just a jerk. and being a jerk is the last thing they see themselves as. dont fret about it.

On my last trip, I was going through bag check at the main entrance to Epcot. I had on a backpack with my college's name on it. My college used to be associated with Catholicism, and this is apparent by the name. However, this association has since been disbanded, and the college is non-denominational. The CM who was checking my bag asked me about the college and whether or not it was Catholic, and when I told him that it used to be but is no longer, he went on a huge spiel about how that's such a shame, and that the only universities worth going to were those that were associated with Jesus Christ. I told him that I was Jewish and walked away.

I completely understand that as an American and as a person, it is complete and total right to have these views, but as a representative of Walt Disney, these views are something that should be kept to himself.

People should always keep their religious opinions to themselves while they are at work, especially when dealing with the public. :thumbsup2

OP,

if it bothered you that much, email Disney so that they are made aware of the situation.

I would hate for this thread to turn into a CM bashing thread. The CM's work their butts off for VERY VERY VERY little pay. Yes, it's an honor to work at Disney, but it does have to get very frustrating to make next to nothing.

I always make a point to email Disney when I run into a CM that is OUTSTANDING.

If it didn't bother the Op's husband about his religion and team, then I would let it go.

IMO- if the "offense" was not enough for the 1st hand person to deal with it at the time, then it really should just be chalked up to *some people*. Seriously, only after passing it along to you, both of you deciding that it wasn't worth the time to make a report [it only would have taken your DH to make the report, didn't need to be in front of the kids..] and getting home and stewing on it are you to the point of *deciding* whether to make it an issue. YMMV, but you asked for opnions.

ITA. Why make it an issue now if at the time it obviously didnt bother you that much.

And what do we really wish to get from this...free nights???

popcorn::

This thread has long outlived any theme park planning usefulness that it may originally have had, so I'm closing it here.
