hello im looking for some help and insight. I am from Canada this is my first trip to wdw and we will be taking out 3.5 year old daughter she has been collection penny's and quarters so she can do the pressing. but what I want to know is will Canadian penny's and quarters work in the machine's.

I would expect the penny will be fine (Since is comes back to you) but you will need US Quarters.

I read somewhere that the Canadian pennies do not work as well because the metal is different, maybe heavier or thicker.

I think pre 1999 pennies should be ok since they are copper plated zinc But after 2000 they were copper plated steel.

Through not sure if your 12 sided ones would work. I'm thinking you should get us ones pre 1982 are the best since they are mostly copper.

Also like any vending machine I doubt Canadian quarters would work.

They will work, BUT, pre-1981 coins work best due to the metallic make-up.

Canadian pennies work perfectly (Done it many times) but you might want to get pre-1997 Canadian pennies cause they are 98% copper and give a better "print" than the more recent ones.

If you use American pennies you want pre-1982 to get copper.

Good stuff! This is DD8's favorite souvenir to collect! Since Disney has over 500 coin press machine options throughout the parks and DTD, she will have many choices to make.

And thanks for the 'old penny' info! I noticed that new pennies don't press as nicely as older pennies, but the metal change never occurred to me as the reason. Makes perfect sense. Now I'm off to swap some pennies around!

Cleaning them first will look better then cleaning them after as to how there are tons of ways.
