We haven't done pressed pennies since 2006. Are they still 50 cents for the penny and $1 for the quarter? Can I use a dollar bill or do I need 4 quarters? Can't remember.

Thanks!!:)

DH refuses to do these since it destroys the coins. I wonder if there are "slugs" you could use instead?

LOL, you could tell him that they're strongly considering debasing our currency and getting rid of pennies and nickels. They cost too much to manufacture and are used too little.

Unfortunately, I have never seen slugs per se, but what if you kept an eye out for ruined pennies that were ugly and illegible anyway? Or Canadian pennies that wind up in your change. The only thing I keep an eye on for our "pressing pennies" is that they're from the years where the penny is all copper (pre 1981), but not a particularly valuable penny. The all copper just looks nicer when pressed.
