Random question...

Does anyone know how many pennies the collector books you buy in the parks hold? (And how much they cost?)

Thank you!

I can check when I get home but for now I'll guess it cost about $12-$15 and holds about 40 pennies and 10 quarters.

That is a lot of pennies! I am attempting to budget how much I need for the kids to collect pennies. I was thinking I would bring enough for them to fill a book, but I was thinking that the books would hold 10-15 pennies.

How many is a reasonable number of pennies/day for a kid to collect? 1? 2? 3?

I could be wrong and it may be less pennies than that (maybe 30 instead of 40) but I just wanted to give you an idea.

It could be 3 or 4 pennies a day, you'll have to do the math.

# of Kids ?
# of days ?

Our kids were ok with 3 or 4 pennies a day. It mostly hits ya when waiting in the hotel lobby or shopping in a store.

The book cost about $7, if I remember correctly. I just set aside enough money for about 20-25 pennies per trip and when they're gone, they're gone. I carry the unpressed money in an M&M Minis tube and the pressed coins in a Mentos gum tube until we get home.

I bought each of my kids the pressed penny book for $9.95 in MK (4 years ago, or 7, can't recall - I'm sure prices went up!) they weren't filled until after a couple of trips and some at attractions around home. Mine hold 4 pressed quarters, 9 pressed dimes (I don't think we ever found those machines) and 48 pennies. I'd say they would get 3-4 per day each if they were just casually getting them. Could get much more if they are really questing for them - for instance my guys pick one design at each machine (usually) but I know some people always buy all 4 designs available at one machine.

I always get DS 2 rolls of quarters and 1 roll of shiny pennies - total investment for our normal 5 day trip is $21 and he gets to press 10 pennies a day!

Now I am going to have to do big math...

4 pennies a day is $2 a day...

Times 7 days is $14...

Times three kids is $42.

That seems reasonable if it really entertains them, which I think it will.

I have to say that the math was super hard for me tonight. My kids have killed my brain.

How much does it cost for each pressed penny/quarter? I'm trying to plan ahead to see how much I should bring with me.

I don't know about the quarters, but the pennies are $0.50 plus the penny.

51 cents for a pressed penny and 1.25 for a pressed quarter. I can usually fill up an m and m container or two from change around the house. It is an awesome free ish souvenir.

My daughter also loves pressed pennies. She has filled one book and plans to get a new one in the park just for Disney. I remember seeing a machine at POR resort but not in the parks. Anyone know where they're usually located?

My dd bought one in MK for $9. She has filled 1/3 of it with the one trip and a number we had saved at home. 54 pennies. She was super excited by the book, and used her own money! She also looks at it often. I will buy one for my ds next trip... We tried the Advil container, but it didn't work we'll for us.
