Can anyone tell me how much the pressed penny machines cost? Is it better to have shiny new pennies? Also, how much is the book you can buy to keep them in?
my daughter is thinking of collecting these on our trip this summer. She has done the autograph and pin thing and is looking for something new.

The newer ones are mostly zinc with a copper shell. When they get pressed, the zinc comes through. Problem is, the zinc can tarnish, turning black and not-so--great looking. Much easier to use old pennies (which are copper all the way through) and shine them up. I don't usually shine mine, but someone here will know how or you can google. Ketchup seems to work for a lot of folks........
Hopefully this won't be the case for anyone else.
