we are looking to add some more pressed pennies to my sons collection....where are the machines at Disney and how much does it cost?
My parents started a collection for him from Alaska, I want to add to it!

Machines can be found at most of the attractions and usually it costs 51 cents
two Quarters and the penny itself

Looks like they are updating their site, I tried to post the actual penny page. I have a PDF file if you want me to try to send it to you. It list what the pressed coin is and the location in the various parks

Most shops have a Disney book that has slots to hold the pennies (usually on the counter near the register). It is a nice keepsake. My boys each have one.

I put my penny pressing money in an empty M & M mini tube. I have my 2 quarters & 1penny stacked in order & ready to go. I don't have to be searching for change.

anyone know if you can put Canadian quarters in them? I went to the bank to get rolls of quarters to stack them with pennies in m&m containers and they don't have rolls of American quarters. Just wondering if Canadian quarters will work.

I read this suggestion on a previous post and today at the store bought 2 tubes. I emptied them tonight and they are PERFECT!!!! Exactly the right diameter for the quarters. We got the boys piggy bank and could fit 16 sets in with a little room to spare. I believe the pressed penny books hold 32 so each boy will take 2 tubes and be ready to go!!

Mental note: need to go to the bank and pick up a roll of shiny new pennies!!

We got a print out of all the locations of the penny machines in WDW from Guest Relations at MGM. I took a highlighter with me and crossed out each penny we pressed so that we wouldn't get duplicates.

I just checked my book for you and each one holds 64 pennies. We bring it back each trip and add more every year!

We hit as many of them as we could. The mini-M&M container idea is a great one. When we went we didn't think of that but we took 2 rolls of quarters and 1 roll of pennies and kept them handy in our park backpack. It was better than digging in pockets looking to get lucky....

Be prepared -- most of the machines have 4 different images and my son wanted most of them!

Have fun!!

Oh wow, 64 huh! We may have to limit on this 1 trip, that could add up quick for 2 boys!

We used the M&M minis tubes also and told the kids when your tube is empty thats it for this trip! So that might help in setting a limit

I LOVE pressed pennies! We try to get the ones with Mickey in different costumes or settings. However, I read somewhere that pennies minted after 1982 have more zinc than earlier pennies and when those pennies are pressed, they get kind of dark and grungy looking. I've tried to use 1970's or earlier pennies for pressing. Anybody know if that zinc story is true? Thanks!

This debate has taken place on previous threads like this one. Yes, the newer pennies often end up with streaks of the zinc from inside but I was just looking at my DS pressed pennies from other trips and I still think the shiny new pennies look nicer than the grungy older pennies, even with the streaks. Some have suggested ways to clean older pennies but I have never tried them.

I have heard the same thing. I agree with the last poster, though, I think the shiny pennies look so much nicer!

Canadian coins do not work in the pressed coin machine. It does state on the machines that they only take American currency (plus other disclaimers). on my laast trip, I mistakenly put a Canadian penny in one of the machines and the image that came out onto the penny was distorted. I believe it the contents of our Canadian coins is different to the American counter part. Silly me, at that time our Loonie was worth more than the American buck, lol.

Pennies should NOT be new:) The date should be before 1982..don't know why, but they turn out much better. I "washed" my nephews before I gave them to him in ketchup, yep, ketchup and they are nice and shiny now:) hope this helps
