Remy Cart at Epcot for limited time
04/02/2009

Guests dinning at Les Chefs de France restaurant will be treated to a unique kind of entertainment, allowing them to meet Remy, the adorable rat from the movie Ratatouille.

Remy, (an Audio-Animatronic®), and the restaurant maitre d', (a comedic actor), engage Guests by performing a series of humorous, theatrical vignettes, using a moving food cart with a silver-domed cheese platter as their stage.

Remy, who can be seen Monday-Saturday between 12:30-6 p.m. through Sept, 5, makes a variety of noises and comes across as a living, breathing little character with a point of view all his own.

The Remy cart was conceived by Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) Research & Development with support from WDI Creative Entertainment.

"Guests at Chefs de France have really been enjoying Remy," said Melissa Valiquette, Entertainment general manager. "He's cute as a button and his presence is a wonderful way to surprise and delight our Guests. Remy is even able to help our Guests celebrate through his interactions and that of his partner, the restaurant maitre d'.

Remy was considered for several other locations at [the Walt Disney World Resort], but he's an obvious fit at Chefs de France based upon his storyline. We approached our Operating Participant partners at Chefs de France about the possibility and were very pleased that they welcomed the opportunity to expand their entertainment offering and create a great new experience."

Remy also can be seen at Disneyland Paris, where he's been entertaining Guests since last summer.

we love remy! I just wish it wasn't for a limited time. We aren't going until next year:sad1:

We saw Remy when we ate at Chefs de France last week. He was quite the hit.

I don't know how much control Armand has or if they have a camera, but Remy seemed to interact with the guests. He really seemed alive and not pre-programed.

I think Chefs de France will have to get added to our ADR list! DD5 loves Remy.

Thank you for posting the article, Cheshire Figment!

We definitely plan to eat dinner at Chefs and see Remy this August.

I was torn between choosing Chefs, San Angel and Teppan Edo, but after seeing videos of Remy on Youtube, Chefs is the choice--hands down!

We saw him. Very, very cute! We had no idea what was going on, but it was a neat surprise.

We saw him, too! He's really cute, and the kids love him, but one adult couple sitting near us seemed totally revolted by him. I can see why (it did seem odd to have a rat in a nice restaurant), but come on, it's Disney! :confused3

That is too funny. I guess they didn't see the movie. :rotfl2:

I guess not! But can you imagine what they must have been thinking if they had no idea who Remy was?! I mean, it's a maitre d pushing around a talking rat on a platter in a nice French restaurant!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Looks very cute! We won't be there before the 5th, maybe if he's a hit, they'll extend him?? We are going to be there sometime between 9-11 and 9-23.

The CM pictured use to work at the Adventurer's Club. Usually he is seen as a street performer at DHS.
Very quick thinker. :thumbsup2

He was at DHS before the AC. Lately I have seen him at What's Your Problem? in Innoventions. And he IS a quick thinker. Has he gone back to DHS?

it isn't like he is a real rat though.

I can't wait to see Remy! :cool1: We're having lunch at CdF on the 29th. My girls are going to flip (we're keeping it a surprise in case Remy doesn't show!)
