"Myers: Questions 'not good for our troop
s'

The renewed military activity in Iraq came hours after U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Richard Myers said those who question the U.S. military campaign in Iraq are "absolutely wrong" and their comments are "not good for our troops."

"It is not helpful to have those kind of comments come out when we've got troops in combat, because, first of all, they're false, they're absolutely wrong, they bear no resemblance to the truth, and it's just harmful to our troops that are out there fighting very bravely, very courageously," Myers said at a Pentagon briefing. "

I think the important part is that these types of questions are "not good for our troops"

Good! They deserve a scolding!

I'm all for a free press, and our government should be accountable for their actions, especially in war time.

But these endless questions at this stage of the war are not designed to do that at all - the media is just trying to stir up controversy, and spice up their reporting - all at the expense of our troops! :( :( :(

If the Pentagon plan has "failed", then based on media reports out of Iraq, I hope we keep "failing". I'm not sure how much more of our "failure" Saddam's armies can take.

But to the topic, I'm gald Myers did it. The media's obsession with being armchair generals serves no purpose whatsoever.

I saw him on television today. He was so mad when asked that asinine question, but remained a gentleman as he berated the press. I don't know how they keep their composure when asked some of these questions. He is a true professional.

I saw him too. I thought he and Donald Rumsfeld made their point very clear. I was really impressed.

I heard a suggestion last week that we could solve the stupid-question problem by just putting Bob Knight in charge of the question and answer period of the DOD press conferences. :p

I can hear it now: "I'm sure you know a hell of a lot more about how to run a war than General Franks will ever know........".

I agree! The Renta Generals seem to be a dime a dozen. Hardly worth two cents!

Hey Galahad, I agree with Steve H. I'd pay to see those press conferences too! Makes me laugh just thinking what they'd be like...

I wish everyone treated the media like Bob Knight :teeth:

I love it!!!:teeth: Good for him!!! I understand the importance of freedom of the press, but come on...
