Hi all -- I know next to nothing about scrapbooking, but my son had a fantastic summer and was written up in the paper several times -- what's the best way to preserve newspaper in a scrapbook? And regular printer paper (some of his clips were from websites that I printed out)? Thanks for your help! I'd really like to keep these things for him.

This is what you need. There are other brands out there, but this one is pretty much the most inexpensive - and it works well on newspaper and other non-acid free papers:

http://www.amazon.com/Make-Acid-2dFree-Spray-2d-oz-2e/dp/B000S10OGQ/ref=pd_sim_k_2

You may be able to find it at a local scrapbook store, or can order it online from a variety of sellers.

Good luck - glad you are preserving these important memories!

Couldn't you also just laminate them?? Sorry if it's a silly question, I haven't investigated "acid-free" options like I should.

The chemicals in the paper will eventually turn it yellow - even if laminated. (That would slow it, though.)

If these papers are important to you, (and it sounds like they are!!!) you should investigate how to protect them. Your future grandchildren will appreciate it!

Thanks! I'll look for that spray today at Hobby Lobby.

Not sure how large the articles are but you can photo copy them onto cardstock and then scrap the copy. I did this with my niece's birth announcement. Copied it on pink cardstock... matted it and then I cut a cricut heart frame to circle her name in the article.
