This is why we always waited too but now that they are teenagers I am thinking of putting some out this year to spike the curiosity factor. I am actually thinking about wrapping up old books and other junk and not putting out their real presents :thumbsup2.

That would be funny! If they have a tendency to peek at presents, that will teach them.

Now that the kids are older I would love to be able to put the stuff under the tree as I get it. I tried it a couple of years ago and my Yorkie started opening all the presents. She thinks they must be for her and she loves to unwrap presents. After she opens her present she will come to me so I can pick her up so she can help me.

Yes. As we wrap our gifts for family and friends, they go under our living room tree.

All our gifts (for our immediate family) are placed under the LR/Main tree Christmas Eve, AFTER we have ended our night.
By that I mean I have Christmas Eve at my home each year and we do that WHOLE ITALIAN FISH thingy, and with a house full of family/guests, we do not place our immediate gifts under until AFTER that celebration is done for the night...Which is often VERY late eve or VERY early am Xmas Day.

I do however place some "little" things under other trees, YES...I have themed trees in each room :lmao: I go a little, no A LOT crazy at Xmas.....:lmao:
I LOVE the HOLIDAY season!!! :cloud9:

My cat would think all the gifts were lovely scratching posts.

So... no.

family presents accumulate as they're wrapped, santa presents appear on christmas morning.

Yes, we always have gifts under the tree before Christmas Day. The tree looks so bare without all the bright packages underneath. When I was a kid, part of the fun was watching the gifts slowly pile up under the tree as the month progressed. Every time I went to the living room, I'd check under the tree to see if any new gifts had been added. In fact, even now that I'm grown I still catch myself doing that sometimes. ;)

We open our gifts on Christmas Eve, because in my house we knew our main gifts were from mom, dad, and relatives. The stuff we got from 'Santa' the next day were just small stocking stuffer type things.

The kids will put their presents to each other or to us under the tree including any thing they made at school as a present to give us (which those are always the best kind!! :goodvibes ).
But DH and I don't put presents under the tree until the kids are tucked in bed and fast asleep on Christmas Eve night. Then Santa puts his out later that night.
I think it is a greater surprise to them to all of the sudden see so many things under the tree all at once on Christmas morning instead of a possible steady stream weeks prior. And I think they really like it that way. They have never asked why we do it that way or to change it. But I know by their reactions every year that they love it!

Our trees goes up the day after Thanksgiving. The gifts are placed as soon as they are wrapped.

Except, of course....Santa delivers his on Christmas Eve.

Gifts (wrapped) go under the tree, as soon as it goes up, or as they are bought/wrapped (most are bought and wrapped already--I am a little OCD that way). We will sit around the tree, with lights on, in the darkness of Chsristmas Eve after dinner and open them.

Santa will bring one item (unwrapped and assembled) per child and fill stockings for everyone after we go to bed on Christmas Eve--to be discovered "Wow" style Christmas morning while we much on cookies and fruit.

We have traditionally had a second tree in the dining room--decorated all DIsney. Birthday gifts for the three of us with Dcember birthdays go under there as they arrive/are bought/wrapped and get opened on the appropriate day.

The non-immediate family gifts go under the tree so I can grab them quickly, but the kids gifts & our gifts to each other get put out late Christmas Eve. Just before Santa arrives.

::yes:: What she said! :thumbsup2

The only gifts that appear overnight on Christmas Eve are the ones Santa brings, the ones mom hasn't had a chance to wrap until the last minute ;), or occasionally a large or hard-to-wrap item from mom and dad, that would be obvious to the kids what it is if it was under the tree before Christmas.

The Christmas tree will be up the weekend of Thanksgiving and present will be under it soon there after. Every thing but Santa gifts go under as soon as they are wrappped.

And the kids are the ones who put the gifts under the tree. DH and I wrap and stack off to the side. Once we are done, the kids get to come out and shake the boxes and put them under the tree.

We put presents I've wrapped for others, and presents we've gotten from out-of-state from others, under the tree. Santa and mom/dad gifts stay in my "Poison Box" (touch it and DIE!! is written on the outside by my helpful DD, lol) until Christmas Eve. :santa:

I voted other.

The presents for family members and people outside the house go under my "fancy" tree in the living room as they are wrapped. I have a hard enough time keeping the cats, dog and DS out of those. There is always one bow that taunts the cats and they will bother it for weeks.

The gifts for me, DH, the pets and DS go under the family room "fun" tree Christmas Eve after DS goes to bed. Stockings also get filled then. One of the best parts of Christmas morning is the look on DS's face when he first sees the pile of presents magically appear :goodvibes We also have a train around that tree that DS loves, so putting presents there would make it difficult to use the train anyway.

gifts that come from outside the house or are going out. Also, gifts to from DH and I. We do have to be careful about the cats, so bows and ribbon sometimes mean they have to be put up! Luckily, the dog could care less unless there are goodies for him. I do have some plush bears and stuff, sometimes the dog thinks they are for him, but the presents he leaves alone.:)

Anything for DD is put out Xmas Eve after she goes to bed.

:wizard:

We put some presents under the tree and add more right before Christmas. But the majority go under on Christmas eve once the kids are in bed and fast asleep.

No kids in the house, so no real need to hide the gifts. Plus the tree looks pretty with the gifts under it. :)
