Preparing meals in a studio

It's those Miller lites! When beer is $5 a bottle, we visit the Hess station, either at DTD, or the one near the Boardwalk. Last December my DS then 20 got a nice pepperoni pizza at the DTD Hess station too.

We did not have a car to get to the Hess station & it was 9:30 at nite after we checked in - too late to start a trek for beer. Anyway, I think the beers were $5.25 each which IS highway robbery BUT that still leaves about $26 for one 32 oz bottle of milk (which is only 4 cups), this teeny tiny box of butter (it was like the equivalent of 2 sticks maybe) and 2 TINY packs of cream cheese (I think only 3 oz each - they were like personal size) and the two 20 oz. bottles of diet coke!!! So even WITHOUT the beer....that's insane!! I can get 8 oz. of cream cheese at Target for $1.79!! They charged something like $2.25 EACH for those 2 puny 3 oz packages! I didn't price their bagels but I sure was glad I'd brought my own down with us!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ditto on bringing extra cups and a sharp knife! And you might want to pick up some stronger paper plates. We always bring extra coffee and filters, salt/pepper, peanut butter and ice tea mix.

We have stayed in studios many times. For breakfast -
- bacon (I either purchase it there or bring it with me - frozen for the trip)
- oatmeal/cream of wheat
- bagels with melted cheese or peanut butter or jam (I keep the little packets I find throughout the year)
- cereal with milk (and any fruit you may be able to pick up)
- poached eggs/scrambled eggs

We usually eat lunch out, making it the big meal of our day. But we bring our leftovers back and we will sometimes purchase an extra sandwich at Earl of Sandwich to eat at another time.

For dinner we tend to stick to salads or sandwiches, maybe some yogurt or fruit. The frozen microwave entrees available at WDW are great in a pinch.

I took my electric frying pan and made grilled cheese with soup heated in microwave. I've also done sausage patties and scrambled eggs in the pan, served with toast. I've cooked burger for tacos or nachos. I also cooked chicken breasts in the fry pan and heated frozen mashed potatoes in the microwave served with fresh veggies. Counter space is limited so you have to be creative. You also need to bring utinsils, sharp knife, bowls etc. as not much is provided in the studios for cooking.

Fantastic, and you're right, not much room but where there's a will there's a way. Saving money by cooking in is nice, but frankly at the end of the day I can't eat Disney for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

I bring glad type containers with lids to use as cereal bowls, and I bring a small cutting board and pen knife to cut up fruit, (I've brought a small watermelon with me once (a sugar baby) when we didn't have a car, I love watermelon, DH thinks I'm crazy, just a bit.)
