Hi DisFriends! We are headed to Disney this weekend to be spectators for the Cheer and Dance Worlds! My family is staying off site at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek. As much as my daughter wanted to stay at All Star Sports so she could run into and interact with her favorite "Cheerlebrities" I had postponed a previous WBC stay that I have to use up before I run out of dates to stay before the end of the summer.
I know it is talked about on the board quite a bit and some have a negative opinion of the cheerleaders going to Disney. This is cheerleaders favorite time of year and many fly to Orlando from around the world to compete and watch as spectators. I love watching the International teams too!
So if you are in Orlando for these dates, please be patient with these cheerleaders as they are here fulfilling their dream as athletes and are also enjoying Disney as a guests just like you, some for the first time. It is quite expensive and these teams often have to fund raise the entire year to pay for their trip. So if you run into them, instead of automatically thinking they are annoying cheerleaders, try talking to them, ask them what team they are on, how they are doing in the competition, etc. These athletes are the best of the best from around the world. This is not like other cheerleading events where teams just sign up and come, they have to be invited through winning other competitions.
Cheer and Dance Worlds April 23-25
This competition minimum age to compete is 12, not top age, some still compete in their 30's!
Cheer Summit April 29 - May 1
This is for lower level team that are non Cheer Worlds divisions so they are under 18.
If you want to see what these athletes are all about, go to YouTube and search for "Cheer World Highlights" or "Cheer Summit Highlights" and prepare to be impressed.
You can also watch the ESPN televised version on YouTube. Both events are aired on ESPN.
