Premier Passport

I am looking at getting a Premier passport. My difficulty lies in the fact that these can only be purchased at the front gates of Disneyland or WDW. So, my Disneyland trip is first, 30 days before my WDW trip. This means I can't make FP+ 60 days out at WDW. Solutions?? I know this is not necessarily a bad problem to have, but I would like to get my FP+ at the 60 day mark. I am traveling with someone who has an AP to WDW in Nov. thoughts?? Thanks!

The pass is the most expensive thing they have. Go to UT/Maple leaf/AAA and buy a ticket. Then upgrade to PP.

Exactly, buy a ticket or lower level pass in advance and upgrade at the gate.

I know that the pass is the most expensive one.....however since I am going to Dl and WDW 2xs each, doing the breakdown, it is actually the cheapest way to go. Now...going through AAA/Undercover Tourist etc, to get a cheaper pass to exchange, which pass do I buy? If I get one for Disneyland, I still forgo the 60 FP+ window for my WDW trip. (Won't need the FP+ for DL). If I get the WDW pass, so I can make my FP+ reservations for my WDW at the 60 day mark, will Dismeyland put the WDW pass toward the Premier pass since it won't have been activated and is from the other coast? I called WDW Guest services, and they didn't have an answer....

It totally makes sense to get the premier pass in that case. Since it sounds like you are going to Walt Disney World first, buy whichever ticket gives you the largest discount off the current gate price dollar wise. Use it once, then upgrade it. This will give a discount, as the ticket will be price bridged to its current gate price before the upgrade. The savings can reach up to near $100 in some cases. Be sure to check Mouse savers for any additional discounts as well.

Will Disneyland put the WDW pass toward the Premier pass since it won't have been activated and is from the other coast? I called WDW Guest services, and they didn't have an answer....

I guess I would try contacting DL Guest Services. If they say you can, I'd ask if they can email you something so you can show it when you get to the window. Good luck!

I'm really not sure DL will upgrade an unused WDW ticket to the pass.

Can your friend add his AP to his MDE with your stay, make the FP+, and then once you have the Premier and add it, s/he can copy them over to you? Is that something that's possible?

Call DisneyLand to find out if the tickets need to activated to upgrade to PP. I know at one point you could enter DLR with a WDW ticket. Not sure if they still allow it, but they use to. When you do that that SHOULD activate it.

my point about it be expensive was that you could buy any regular entry ticket and upgrade it.

I need a DisneyLand ticket, in January (Rebel Challenge), I'm thinking about getting DLR-AP and upgrading to a PP in Feb (Glass Slipper) assuming the DVC PP happens again.

Thank you for all the replies! I am going to call DL guest services with my question and will update the thread with the results. If none of the upgrade options work out, we'll make the FP+ on my brother's MDE and hopefully share when I get my ticket in October. Again, not a bad problem to have, but I do what my FP+ options available. . Thanks again!

You are correct. I had a DL annual pass and an unused 8 day 1 park pass for WDW and they wouldn't upgrade it at DLR. I had to take my DLR passport to WDW and combine the two tickets there. And sadly, the lines at MK were way longer than the ones at the DLR.

I called the WDW Central Reservations and they had me call Disneyland, who sent me back to WDW. What I found out after getting the appropriate cast member is this: I needed to purchase a Disney World AP. When I go to Disneyland next month, I will take it to Guest Services. They will connect with Disney World and convert it into a Premier passport for me there.
I purchased the WDW AP, and just the voucher arrives. (I should have known that as I have purchased them before) So I called to make sure this was still how the process was going to work with a voucher. I was transferred to a special cast member again, and was assured that everything was correctly in place to be able to exchange the voucher at Disneyland when I arrive. I specifically needed to do this at the park guest services, NOT the hotel, and NOT the ticket booths.
With the current purchased WDW AP linked to MDE, I can make the FP+ reservations 30 days out. Not the 60 I was hoping for, but better than not at all. Also, all the cast members did caution me that it is an easier process to upgrade a WDW AP to a Premier Passport, then to take a Park Hopper ticket of any sort to Disneyland and try to upgrade. I didn't ask why.
So, if all goes according to "plan", this should work for scheduling FP+ at Disney World and also get me the ticket media I need for the year.

Yes, unless you are staying onsite at WDW, the best you can get is 30 days advance FP+. This is true for all AP ticket holders as well as MYW ticket holders not staying onsite.

This is exactly my situation. I just did an online chat with Disneyland and was assured that I **would not** be able to upgrade a not-yet-activated WDW AP to a Premier Passport at Disneyland.

That will work only if the FPs they are trying to copy are still available. If they are not available you will be assigned arbitrarily to an attraction that IS available.

For example, the fact that the friend has a 7DMT fastpass doesn't mean that the pass will copy to Premier Pass Person automatically. Only if 7DMT is still available. If it's not, Friend will still have the mine train but PPP would be assigned to something else, maybe Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor.
