I just found out that I am pregnant - It is still really early, but I will be about 22 weeks or so by the time our March trip rolls around.......

What's it like being pregnant in WDW?

When we went to WDW in March 2003 I was 18/19 weeks along. I had a very easy pregnancy...no morning sickness and fatigue ended after the first trimester...so going to WDW wasn't bad at all. Do drink LOTS of water! Be prepared to have to stop more often to sit and relax, and to go to the bathroom!! I actually enjoyed being pregnant because it did make us slow things down a bit. As for rides, I stayed off of anything that had a warning. I had been to WDW several times before and knew I'd be back in the future so I didn't want to chance it.

Make sure you bring extra spending money! The baby items at WDW are adorable! Luckily for us, we found out the sex of the baby the week AFTER our trip so I only spent an extra $100 on baby stuff (if I had known the sex, I think I could have spent an extra $1000!!).

I'll let you know when we get back next week how it was!! I'll be 28 weeks along, with a 2 yr old!! :earseek: makes me wonder what i was thinking! :rotfl:

I'm not too worried though, i've felt great this pg so far, and don't plan on riding too many rides. I'm more worried about leg cramps from walking so much.

I went at 16 weeks and 27 weeks. The first trip was we took it easy. I had just gotten over morning sickness completely. While DH and friends rode the rides I couldn't, I would either look in the stores or eat a snack. That way they didn't have to stop for me all the time.
The second trip I was able to ride a few more rides. This trip I actually got to ride Kilamanjaro Safari. They put us in the front as it is not as bumpy. We also had my Sister's baby with us and she was 3 months at the time. We still took it easy. But both trips were a blast and I can look back and say "Look Megan, you went to WDW twice before you were born."
Like other posters said just take it easy and enjoy the shops when you can.

Have fun!!

I have been to WDW 3 times pregnant (2 pregnancies) Well one was only vero beach, but it seemed very disney like. :cool1: :sunny:

1st time I was 32 weeks pregnant and really needed a get away. It was fun and I felt the best of the whole pregnancy when I was there. Short trip though and we took it easy.

2nd time I was only 8 weeks pregnant, the through up stage. It went well again.

3rd time was vero beach at 27 weeks. That was the best trip, and the best time to take a trip during the pregnancy. March will be good because it won't be too hot, but still should be nice weather. 22 weeks should be great too.
Have a great time. Congrats on the pregnancy. Don't worry you will not be the only pregnant women there! :teeth:

When DD was 2 we went twice, I was 5 and 7 months during those times. I didn't really care about riding rides since we go quite often, I just took it at my pace which pretty much went along with DD's, we would nap in the room in the afternoon, hang by the pool etc. We had great times both times. I had extremely great pregnancies so I am sure that helped as well.

Good luck!

I saw tons of pregnant women at WDW on our trip last week. They all looked like they were having fun and not riding rides didn't seem like a problem for them. Just think, you have an excuse to eat all the yummy food at EPCOT

Thanks for posting Patrice and congrats on the pregnancy! :cheer2:

These posts are encouraging! I'm going this Friday 20-21 weeks pregnant with my one year old! I was hoping to get to ride Kilimanjaro, because thats my favorite ride of all the parks. DH said something about them having a specail truck just for elderly people too?? He thought maybe we could get on the ride that way... I'd rather not take up space that is intended for elerly or handicaped people though, I'm just pregnant! It's nice to know the front of the car is a choice too.

I'm NOT big on rides, especailly the dropping ones or roller coasters so I'm looking forward to not being heckled to go on them this trip! I'm actually looking forward to buying some cute baby things this trip since I know we are having another boy. :p

The new Passporter for Special Needs by Deb Wills and Deb Koma has a section for pregancy. You might want to get your hands on a copy and check out the information.

We just got back, and I'm happy to be home! I did have fun on the trip, but I can easily say I will never go pregnant again... Two mistakes I think I made that I would suggest that you don't...

Mistake #1: Schedule early morning character breakfasts and still stay the entire day at every park till closing! We did this the first three days at WDW...

Mistake #2: Wait on a bench for the rest of your party to ride the rides you either can't or won't go on. This got old at about day 3, and I wish I'd would have grabbed some cash from DH and went shopping during that time! But that probably saved us a few hundred!

OK... one more mistake

Mistake #3: Go in thinking you're the same person pregnant or not and try to do everything you would normally do. I found by about day three not only was my son missing out on quality nap time, but so was I! Naps on a park bench, stroller or baby care center DON'T COUNT!

All in all I'm still glad we went and my son loved the shows, music and characters. It was a lot of fun watching him have fun. But it would have been more fun without the belly and lack of energy. At least I can jokingly tell my baby thats still cooking that he was in WDW while he was in Mommy's tummy and he didn't even know it.

It looks like you guys go a lot, Patrice, so I'm sure anything you miss out on during your pregnant tour, you'll make up for sooner than later! Have fun, stay hyrdated and pace yourself!

Well, my experience seems to be different from everyone else's. I went when I was 5 months pregnant with my middle daughter. We went in october and we didn't change a thing. We toured the parks opening to closing, non-stop just like we always do. I rode every ride I could which was alot(although this was the first time my DH and DD9 who was 5 at the time got to ride ToT going straight to the front of the line...I was a little upset). I never felt tired or strained. I didn't go into thinking I had to modify anything. I said I'm going to do what I can to make this experience "normal")meaning what we usually do) for my older dd and when I have to sit/stop/eat I'll do it. Alot of people told me I shouldn't go, so I was really determined to have a great time. Do whatever works for you and most importantly have fun!!

DS will be 17 months when we got in March, so the rides we can go on are limited as is, so I don't think that it will be a problem. I am just excited to get away for one last mini-family trip before our new ****oo arrives.

We learned a lot from our last trip with DS to do things in increments and not schedule too many early morning breakfasts (DS ended up with a horrible cold by the end of the trip and I blame it on being run down).

I am excited - the cool thing is that we SHOULD know the sex before we go down, so i will have lots of fun getting little things for ****oo #2!!!!

We went to Disney World in Dec 2005 while I was pregnant and I have no regrets. It was a great time. I was actually considering waiting to get pregnant until after our vacation. I'm so glad I didn't. I was at the beginning of the second trimester at the time. I just have a few tips for you prego WDW lovers:

-Take an afternoon break everyday
-Drink plenty of liquids
-Use walkie talkies (my husband went on the rides I couldn't and I went shopping or found my own fun)
-Buy the meal plan so you can eat all that food without worrying about the cost
-You can still participate in 90% of the fun!

Even though Kilimanjaro Safaris has a pregnancy warning, if you sit up front it's no more bumpy than driving on a gravel road. I rode it without any problem.

I enjoyed Kilimanjaro Safari too! I just sat in the front seat and the bumpiness wasn't any worse than my DH's normal driving! :rotfl:

Have fun and congrats again!

I'm with Dizmommy... I was 7 months along when we went to Disney the last time and Kilimanjaro was less bumpy than the ride on Rt. 95 S in South Carolina. :rotfl2:

I did get edema while I was there, we probably pushed a little too hard and it was HOT when we were there in April, it was actually a little hotter than normal, pushing 100 a couple of days. Whew...

I had a great time though, I don't ride a lot of thrill rides to begin with so that was a non-issue, also helped my hubby since he could get in the single riders lines a lot. I went shopping and rested a lot.

Hope that helps! Enjoy!
