I'm 40 years old, have two teenage daughters, DH had vasectomy 12 years ago, and I get to take a pregnancy test. :scared1:

I'm more than 4 weeks late. Had some weird stuff in the month before that, so I wasn't terribly surprised to be late, but 4 weeks? I don't think I am pregnant, but DH is kind of freaking out. How scary would that be, though, to have a 17year old, a 14 year old, and a new born? :scared:

Wish me luck. Or, better yet, pat me on the head and tell me there's absolutely no chance that I could be pregnant.:upsidedow

Isn't there a chance you could be starting menopause?

Good luck.

Maybe your cycle is just messed up this month?

Good luck!! Maybe it's premenapause?

Ok, suck it up and buy the test and report back, LOL. I had a MAJOR suprise last month, LOL.

ElizK, with 12 years of good results, it seems much more likely that you are in perimenopause. Hope you get the answer you want, though!!

I doubt if I'm peri-menapausal. My mom had not even started menapause at 49 when she had her pipes yanked (so to speak).

My last period was in the middle of September. I have NEVER been this late.

What kind of surprise are you talking about?????:scared:

That's what I like! A nice pat on the head. Thank you, DVCLiz! :thumbsup2

My mom went to the Dr. thinking she had uterine cancer or something when she was 43. She was pregnant. :scared1: BUT there was no vasectomy in that scenario.

Good luck! :wizard:

I am your same age, actually just turned 41. I had a "scare" like that this summer. Turned out to be nothing except that I didn't have a period that month.

My DH was so freaked out at the thought of being 70 when his child graduated college that HE bought the pregancy test, brought it home and said, "Go pee on this stick, I am too old to be walking around worrying about this sort of thing. You are going to give me a heart attack."

BTW - My BFF who is our same age didn't have a monthly visitor for October and her pregnancy test came back negative.

Good Luck However it goes!

OP - Good luck to you! If its any help, by the time I was 40 I was definitely into peri-menopause and having weird cycles. Do you know if your mother went through menopause early?

If you are pregnant, you'll deal with it. DH's baby was 21 four days before our youngest DD was born. We survived starting out old with a new baby.

This was me in early summertime. Yep, 4 weeks late. Took 2 tests...because I'm really regular. But I wasn't pg after all. To this day, I wonder if I really was and then lost it or something because it was so strange to be that late.

Anyway, thought that would be a good little story for you to hear because I knew how I felt at the time

A C K ! ! !

:rotfl2: Yeah...DH already had his consulation and was to get the snip in about 2 weeks LMAO...I'm mid 30's and we were done, we thought LOL.

I think in your case I'm betting on maybe premenopause? Good luck!

Well, you aren't your mom. Mine had reproductive issues that I don't have (it took her years, surgery and medication to have her first two kids; me, I went off the pill and got pregnant in the second cycle).

Take the test. If it's positive, go throttle the vasectomy surgeon. My dad got snipped after my younger sister came along as a "happy accident" without fertility treatments :) and that was it for them for kids. I'd imagine you're not pregnant if it's been so long since your DH got his slicing and dicing.

There's no chance of pregnancy. Don't stress! I hope it comes soon!

I didn't get my period for about 4 months (last Feb-June). At first I tested hypothyroid, which can make you irregular. But when I re-tested, my results were normal...so my doctor thinks it was stress. I was finishing up my last class to graduate from college, and it was so hard I thought I would have a nervous breakdown. So, if your pregnancy test comes out negative, have your doctor check your thyroid.

Oh, and I had a little "surprise" last month also...my first one arrives in June. I'll be 39!! :scared1:

Must be in the weather-the same thing happened to me last moth!:confused3 I had my tubes tied right after ds4 was born. Also dh (well actually ex-dh) also had a testicle removed (sorry if that's tmi) AND WE WERE USING PROTECTION so we were VERY VERY surprised to find me late!!!! 2 tests later-which were negative and I finally got my visit!

Shoot, that reminds me to call my doc and find out JUST how effective tubal ligations are!
