pregnancy test

I am your same age, actually just turned 41. I had a "scare" like that this summer. Turned out to be nothing except that I didn't have a period that month.
I used to be as regular as a clock, but as soon as we started trying to start a family it seems things started going haywire! One month I had no period, yet the test was negative, and the doc said that was perfectly normal, sometimes there is no egg released. :confused3

I hope that's the case for you... unless you'd like a different outcome? ;)

I finally had my kids at 37 (after nearly 5 years of trying) and 41 (our surprise), and wouldn't trade them for anything. :goodvibes

Oh, and I had a little "surprise" last month also...my first one arrives in June. I'll be 39!! :scared1:

You and me both! :rotfl2: I'm mid-30's so just a few years behind you but it's a shock when you think you are done! LOL

I know once baby gets here I'll wonder how we ever lived without him/her though. :lovestruc

My MIL was 46 when DP was born! She already had 6 children the oldest was 23. Definite ooops. :)

Her oldest son had to tell his fiancee before she met MIL to be that his mom was 4 months pregnant. Now this was 1960's so even more outrageous! The niece and aunt are 15 months apart.

Ditto Ditto!

If I were in your situation, I would be taking the test in the Walgreen's bathroom! :lmao:

Good luck!:thumbsup2

Ok, that thought did cross my mind. Seriously.

I'm home, did the test, and (insert drum roll here....) NEGATIVE!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

whew. I was not nearly as worried about it as DH. I didn't FEEL pregnant (if you know what I mean).

If it had been positive we would have been ok. Definitely not in the plan (and I'm a stickler for THE PLAN), but would have been ok. It's pretty funny, though, to think what my teenager daughters' reactions would have been!:rotfl: :lmao:

Thank you for going through this with me. I have said in the past that the best way to make a late period start is to take a pregnancy test. We'll see!

Sounds like perimenapause to me. Until around the age of 38, I was a regular 28 day cycle (I took a HPT with #1 because I was 8 HOURS late). Then all of a sudden, I'd be 2 weeks late, 2 months late, regular - I went back on the pill, because I was tired of buying HPT's (and I had my tubes tied).

Well, I'm glad to hear that it's the news you want. I'm about your age, and my periods haven't been even sort of close to regular since my youngest weaned ~18 months ago. 20 years ago, I was so regular, you could set your watch by me. But, I had my tubes tied after #4, so I don't really worry these days.

BTW, I had a PLAN once, too. 4 kids, spaced roughly 2 years apart. It was a nice plan. I liked the plan. Clearly, God didn't get the memo! We have a 6-year gap between 2 and 3. Next year, I'll have one in HS, one in MS, one in grade school, and one in preschool. It's actually not a BAD plan, it just wasn't MY plan!

Congratulations
Did you buy a test yet? LOL DIS minds want to know!:)

Congrats to you too!

There is no better way to scare your daughter into being a good girl! :scared1: (I was 15 when my little bro was born)

  Glad you got the "right" test result!

Actually, it wasn't really outrageous in the '60s -- it happened all the time.
The pill wasn't too commonly prescribed until about 1968, and other methods had their usual failure rate. Now, by the '70s it would have been unusual.

BTW, I'm 46 and have a 17 mo. I'm the youngest in my family, born in 1962, when my mom was two weeks past her 48th birthday. My eldest niece is 6 months younger than I am.

You're a better man than I am! ;)

Yep, family blessing (or curse, depending on your POV  )

My extended family on my mother's side is full of women who gave birth well into their 40's with no fertility treatments or drugs. My OB is considering writing a paper.

I would agree.

My dad was born in '42 and his oldest brother was already married by then...his mom had two more kids after my dad! She probably might have had more except that her husband died soon after the last baby.

I'm embarrassed to say as a teenager I asked my mom once, "Ewwwww, you don't still do that, do you?" :scared:

She happily admitted that they did, and that it was still fun. :rotfl2:
