My dh and I are FINALLY trying to start a family this coming year. The snag is, we plan to be at WDW in November 2006 with my parents for my mom's birthday/Thanksgiving. Since the trip can't be cancelled, I'm worried that I just MAY be pregnant when we are at the parks.

Has anyone been at WDW while pregnant and if so, what were you able to do/not do?

Thanks for your help, and wish US :cloud9: luck !!!!

Anything you shouldn't do will have warning signs posted. Most of them are obvious (Splash, Space Mt. BTMRR, ToT, RnR Coaster, Star Tours, etc.........).

Less obvious is the fact you will need (NEED) to rest more, drink more water, and avoid getting too much sun. Depending on how far along you are, your body may demand it, but if you're feeling particularly well it's easy to over-do it.

I went at 2 1/2 months and did WAY too much, drank WAY too little water, and in just three days I had exhausted myself to the point of no return. I felt fabulous the whole time we were there and was so sick I couldn't open my eyes for the 18 hour drive back home. I wish you the good fortune of having more brains than I had. :)

Also, you have to stay away from hot tubs, right? That coupled with limited rides, and no sushi (having to limit fish intake overall) would just kill it for me. I thought I might be pregnant for our upcoming trip to WDW, but I am not. HAD I actually gotten pregnant though, I think DH and I would have cancelled. THere are too many things I love that I could not do.

We just went in Oct and I was 2 months preggie myself. We flew which made it easier but I definatly walked way slower but for the most part my family was understanding. I second the whole drink water thing because I don't think I would have done as much without all the water, (and peeing) that I did. Also I was able to do most of the rides and never really felt cheated except for Splash Mountian, until my DH and 2 DS's got stuck on it for over an hour at the top of the final drop. Then I was kinda glad I missed it. Either way no matter how far along you are you will be able to find things to enjoy yourself with. princess:

i've been to WDW pregnant twice. once at 2 months (in sept. heat) and once at around 7 months with a 2yr old in tow (in june heat). totally doable if you drink tons, and i do mean tons of water. my brita bottle never left my hand. i sat outside the rides i couldn't go on and it was good downtime to rest.

i also went back to the room at midday for a break and i think it's essential for any pregnant woman in wdw.

there is a LOT you can do there.

My family and I will be at WDW in January. I will be 14 weeks by then. Does anyone know about the water slides at the parks and resorts? We are staying at the Boardwalk and I would hate to miss the slide. I don't want to take any chances, but I think it's pretty tame. I feel like I'm already making a huge sacrifice in missing Splash Mountain (the other roller coasters don't really appeal to me). But, there's always next year. :flower:

water slides are a definate NO for any pregnant woman!! i think there is a risk of abruption? i can't remember the specifics but for sure you cannot go on water slides when pregnant.

My doctor told me water slides were a definite NO. As for the rides in the parks, I obeyed the warning signs. If it warned pregnant mothers not to ride, I didn't ride.

I went to WDW when I was pregnant with both of my children. Believe it or not, the first time was a little harder (i was so sick with her!) and it was April, which was warmer than the second time, which was early February. I didn't feel like I missed anything at all (ok, MAYBE Space Mtn!) both times. The second time was actually one of my favorite trips, because my DD was 3 and I knew it was the last trip with just HER.

I rested a lot in the parks...especially the second time. DD would enjoy an ice cream or some other snack, dance around, and I'd sit on a bench.

I just got back and am 11w. Stayed away from all the rides of course that they warn about. Luckily it wasn't hot so I was always comfortable but I have had horrible nausea so several times I had to stop and lie down on a bench for a few minutes until it passed.

I went for almost a week at 4.5 months along and really enjoyed the trip, had no problems but definitely needed the afternoon rest. We went in January so weather was cooler and parks weren't open all that late, both of which helped, and we were traveling with a 2 year old so we weren't trying to keep up with an adult-only touring schedule. So I would say you can have a great time, don't worry, but if the rest of your group is adults only make sure you have a plan to ensure that you get the down time you need. Also, I would not recommend visiting Universal pregnant. I can't speak to the Islands of Adventure part, since we went before it was opened, we took my daughter to see Barney and it seemed like there was virtually nothing that I was allowed to ride in the regular part of the park.
