Two-part question:

Part 1. I recently stayed for the first time at OKW (rented pts for a studio, blgd 36). I really loved everthing at OKW except for one thing: I found I could literally hear word for word the conversations of the family in the room next to me. They were not being particularly noisy but it seemed that the door that joins the 2 rooms was not well insulated. Is this true of all OKW rooms? Or was it just a fluke? I've stayed at quite a few Disney properties and have never experienced this before. Usually you can hear some muffled noise but nothing like this. I'm interested in any feedback from experienced DVCers about this.

Part 2: Despite the noise in the studio, I'm planning to go back to OKW this Dec but in a one-bedroom this time. So my questions are: are certain one bedrooms are better than others (and why)? I'd like to be near the main check-in, restaurant area. Any rooms or bldgs to avoid? Some noisier than others? Any recomendations? (I'm assuming I can request a particular building # or location . . .) Any help would be appreciated!

P.S. I'm hoping that our Dec upcoming vacation at OWK will convince my DH to buy into DVC (an OKW resale) but if the 1 bdrms are noisy like this studio was, he'll never go for it (and I'm not sure I would either . . .Yikes!) Any reassuring advice appreciated!!

The noise in all the DVC resorts studios does pass through/under the doors. A tip I found here is to put a towel under the door to block the noise. I have found the Stu's at BCV have the least noise I think because the door is closer to the entrance, not right in the middle of the room.

All the rooms at OKW are nice. If you have a car, I would NOT stay near the HH, as parking gets a little crowded there, as folks from other parts of the resort overflow the parking lot by the HH, and take spaces in hte buildings near by.

All of the studios & 1 bedrooms at OKW are lockoffs, so you will have the lockoff door. We always get a 1 bedroom and have had the problem of the noise from neighbors, nothing major though. I always close the bedroom door at night.

We've been lucky at BWV, all 3 times we got a dedicated 1 bedroom.

BillPA and DebbieB: Thanks for the tips. That helps! (I hadn't even thought about using a towel under the door to quiet the noise. Duh!) :)

The bedroom in OKW is at the other end of the unit. You should not hear any noise from the studio in the bedroom.
