Are the preferred rooms are POP really preferred? I've noticed on the map that it looks like a longer walk that some of the other places.

We've stayed preferred at Pop 3 times...all 3 we have been 1st floor poolside, and we were close to the food court and bus stop. It works for us!

The one thing I hate about staying in the 60's buildings (closest to the main building and bus stops) is that if you have a car, the designated 60's parking lot is really really far from the actually buildings itself.

But, if you won't have a car then its no problem! :rotfl:

Preferred rooms are pretty nice. Its best perk is the closeness to the food court. You can walk there anytime to fill up your mugs and it'll only take you 5 minutes to get back to your room.

But to answer your question, yes, the preferred rooms are actually preferred. They are closer to the main building and bus stops and offer a nice convenience to your already (hopefully) wonderful stay at Pop.

Question-what did you do/request to get the poolside location? I am worried abt. paying for pref. and not getting in bldng. 4 or 5 near the pool. Thoughts??

Hello. We also requested preferred, 1st floor poolside. It just seemed like fun! However, I was wondering if the noise level was unbearable late at night? Thanks so much!

I also have had 1st floor poolside. There was some noise at night but not unbearable. It dwindled down after 10.

And I asked for it on my reservation and requested it again when I checked in. Your not guaranteed your requests for buildings and can only cross your fingers that you'll stay in 1st floor poolside. But most likely the CM will be able to accommodate you, although just remember that its not definite :goodvibes

Where do you find this map?
I may do just standard, but we will have a car, and would love to as close to the food court as a standard can be!

This is the link to the map that shows the preferred areas. HTH.

Ok, that 1st link isn't working for some reason. Here is the link to the POP thread, on the 1st page, read about the rooms, etc. and you'll see the link to the pref. room map: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1629396

We also call about 4 days to 1 week before our arrival and request poolside, so they can put it with our reservation. We were even able to get 5 rooms preferred poolside last January...but this took several phone calls and a few extra minutes at check-in.

You've been very lucky if you've paid for preferred & gotten 1st floor poolside. We paid for preferred & ended up on the back side of the 60's about as far away from the food court, buses & pool as possible with absolutely no view and it was still classified as preferred. After emailing Disney and discussing the issue we were given clarification of where the preferred rooms are at POP and where they stuck us was preferred, but definitely not to us. For many other reasons, we won't be back to POP again for awhile - we're trying ASMu again - hoping for something more quiet and nicer than our last trip to POP.

We only will stay at Pop preferred. I want a 1st floor poolside SO badly for our next trip...Does anyone know if these rooms are connecting?

We also called and requested pool side, it was our first time at pop. Next time I would ask for something not next to the pool beacuse it was so loud and there were always people right outside our room at the tables smoking.
We've stayed at ASM and had prefered rooms we stayed in the Dalmations area and it wasn't a bad walk and it was much quieter.

We actually like the non-preffered rooms better. It isn't that bad of a walk for us to get everywhere. When we stayed in the preferred section, it seemed like we had further to go to get to the main hall than when we stayed in the non-preferred areas.

We stayed in a preferred room just this last April. We loved the location. We we're in the 70's building. ( I believe). It was right across from the Mickey telephone. It was only a "maybe" 5 minute walk to the food court. The walk was beautiful and very short. We are going back in May of 2008 and definatly staying at the POP! We loved it! We think they have best food court out of all the values!!

One thing I did notice: when we walked to and from the food court, I did notice all the bottom floor rooms around the pool. They always had people walking by, loud and carrying on. :dance3:
I would definatly stay in a preferred room, but not anywhere near the pool. If you wanting a little piece and quiet!:coffee:

Hope you have a wonderful trip wherever you decide on staying!!:cool1:

I agree that poolside is loud. You have the noise from the pool and everyone in the common area espceially at the flower pool in the 60's. It was quite loud in February when we were there and it was not a holidy weekend. Perhaps requesting non-poolside is the way to go for noise levels.

I've done preferred rooms twice and would not want to be on the first floor, poolside.. When I was there a couple of weeks ago, there was quite a bit of noise well beyond the "quiet" hours..
