I was going to preaddress mailing labels and stick them on post cards. I figured it would give me more time to write a message....is this tacky??

Absolutely not. I use labels for my Christmas cards. No one even notices.

is this tacky??

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

WE do this regularly, and people are so thrilled to get a postcard from us, they don't even notice the address label. Except several people that i've sent them to have said they thought it was a great idea, and they'd have to do that themselves on their next trip.

Anyone that complains about it, you should drop from your post card list, that's for sure!

No...this would be called time saving. Plus you don't have to haul around your address book, worried you're going to lose it!

members of my family do the same thing for christmas cards each year. I've never thought any less of them. then again, I'm not Emily Post.

I don't see why poeple would think it was tacky for a postcard. It actually makes sense to me.

If it were something formal, like a wedding invite, I might pause for a second before tearing the envelope open, put for a post card, I don't see what the big deal is!

I don't think it's tacky. Maybe not appropriate if it's from the Fairy God Mailer, but who am I to know that anyway? Certainly not a problem if it's for yur family/friends.

Yes they are tacky as they have that tacky stickem stuff on the back. That's so you can stick em on the postcard and not have to lick em and get that yucky taste on your tongue all day when you put em on the postcard.

Not at all!!!

I think is a great idea, for family and friends !

I have a printout in my computer ready to be printed out for mailing cards - christmas, invitations, birthday, thank you's. Not only is it a timesaver but it can't be sent to the wrong place because of poor penmanship!!! Also great to hang onto return address self stick labels if your mailing letters vs. a postcard for same reason. I always have my own self stick address labels on hand for labeling items incase of lost & found situations - cameras, bags, etc, quick and easy when dropping off film for developing - beats filling out the form and it can be read. I also have my kids put one in there pockets when going out to parks, musuems, zoo's in case they get lost the info is right there and they don't have to remember it if panicked - they're 3 & 4.

Tacky is buying postcards, filling them out, then finding them in your bags when you get home! Not that I know anyone who has done that or anything. :rolleyes1

I think it's a great idea! It will leave you more time to write nice notes on the postcards. :wave2:

Heck no! I did this for our cruise last Thanksgiving...even used the Walt Disney font to make them a bit more special! It worked great!

This is what we do...we use the Walt Disney font for the labels. :flower:

I don't think this is tacky at all. Sending a postcard is just being generous...you're taking time out of your vacation to send someone a smile. So if anyone complains about a preprinted label...drop them from your mailing list.

Tacky ??? No way. I think it is extremely thoughtful that you are taking time to even write out postcards. I would buy a book of stamps and have them ready as well. Have a great vacation.

I agree, unless what happened our recent trip happens to you! :bitelip:

I used to send postcards to all the family and friends, but this last trip I sent only to the great nieces and nephews (all are 5 and under and they all love to get mail.) Well, DH's great nephew got his postcard and according to his grandma (DSIL), he wouldn't let go of it! He carried it around the house and everywhere he went. When his dad came to pick him up, the boy said to him, "Dad, I got a ticket to WDW...wanna go with me?" :sad2: Luckily, his dad was thinking and replied, "Ah, buddy, I think I've gotta work that day." DSIL told him very clearly it was a POSTCARD, but he insisted it was a ticket. So, DH felt really guilty...when he came home he told me the story with this look like, "darn it! now we've gotta take him." :earseek: I just reminded him that IF we take one then we have to take each of them and we've got 6 great nieces and nephews and one more due in October. Not to mention all of their mommys and daddys, grandmas and grandpas, and great granparents who would like to go, too. :scared1: So, no, we cannot take him even if he thinks he's got a ticket. And I'm not even sending the little guy another postcard, just to be on the safe side.

How do you get a Disney Font? Sounds cool but not in my word program.

Good heavens, no! Not only will all your addresses be clearly printed (and you won't have to lug around an address list or book), you will also know exactly who you've sent cards to, merely by the fact that their label is missing. "Did I send a postcard to Jane? Hmm ... Jane's address label isn't on my sheet anymore, so, yes, I did send her a postcard!"
