First off, we absolutely love Disney but we are simply being priced out. We had not planned on going back to WDW this year, but with our APs expiring in July, we may take one last stab at using them. We are not in a financial situation to go, but we can find a cheap place offsite to stay at for the week. With all of the price hikes, I can't see dropping $4,500-$5,000 for a vacation where I have to rush every where, wait in long lines, and be overcharged for everything.
We plan to find a room at a resort like WBC, OLK, Reunion, etc. A resort that offers amenities and other activities for families. We plan on cooking our meals and eating at the room. No spending on Disney food. This only leaves the resort itself as the cost of the trip. We plan on doing 3 hours of the park in the mornings and enjoy the resort the rest of the day and evening.
We will have a blast on vacation regardless. The plan is to simply get away for a week while we can. If getting to a park can happen great. If not, that is fine too. There are tons of activities at the resort for us.
