Pre-Trip Plans, WDW April 19-25, 2009, UD-4/18-So Kiss Me and Smile For Me...1DTG!!!!

I can't even THINK about what it will be like to leave! :sad1: But I might be ready to be back on a normal schedule with my DS.
We are going to have lunch at Le Cellier on our trip too! Can't wait to hear what you think about it! We are also going to Ohana, but just on a normal night. *Yummy*

Dude. You are cracking me up!

First of all, let me say how jealous I am that you're in Colorado. I miss mountains! I spent some time vising my DF in Larkspur a few years back and I would move in a heartbeat!

Also, again with the jealousy thing, I can't believe you're doing the Seas Tour!! How exciting!!! If it weren't for the fact that I'm paying for this upcoming trip (and am pinching pennies to do so) I would SO do that. Of course, I've always said that I want to get certified so that I can actually DIVE in the tank. Now THAT would be a dream come true for me...

Looks like you'll be eatin' some yummy food. I totally give a :thumbsup2 to the Brown Derby. It's one of my favorites. I love the Ahi Tuna there (when they have it...they were out the day we went last year) and IMO their creme brulee is the best in the parks. (I'm picky because I make my own) Obviously there can be off nights but the Derby is one we repeatedly go back to.

Anyway, it sounds like this is going to be an amazing trip. I wish I could visit my family by going to Disney World! :rotfl:

Oh...and by the way?...

...Oh...and I have found a trick to getting readers...if you have a link in your signature. If you post on other reports or just post on the boards sometimes you attract readers. I found that works....

Worked for me! ;)

I re-read your trip report and started to laugh when I saw that you were going to watch Stacey on TV... OMG she is certainly one happy lady... don't think I have seen many people that happy..... actually I don't mind her that much... I find myself putting her on TV when we are there when I need some wind down time....

I learned about the famous Stacey by reading these boards. Otherwise, without everone's help and info, I would have never "met" Stacey. She would have just stealthily entered the hotel room late one night-kind of like how the ghosts did in Poltergeist.

Worked for me! ;)

This my last big splurge before I go back to grad school, and I want to get over my silly fear of swimming in waters with "critters" in them. If I am going to be eaten by a shark, it might as well be a Disney shark. I had a bad incident with a lake perch in upstate NY when I was a Boy Scout.

Hey, lake perch can look really scary during your merit badge test.

I am thinking of doing Ohana or the other Poly Restaurant (don't know the name) for breakfast on my last day. I hope the lukewarm reviews Le Cellier has been getting will warm up a little before I get there.

Once upon a time, in the far away kingdom of Colorado, their lived a young prince named ChefMickey123. One day, the Prince went to the mailbox and found a peculiar envelope looking like a greeting card. “What’s this”, the young Prince thought to himself? (For it was not the Prince’s birthday, nor was it Christmas, nor Valentine’s Day, and Easter was still weeks away.)

Upon closer inspection, the envelope bore the seal of the Duke and Duchess of Hellertown, Pennsylvania—the Prince’s other grandparents, who would not be going to the Magic Kingdom with the Prince the week after the Great Feast of Easter. For you see, the Duchess of Hellertown is not a well lady, having Parkinson’s Disease these past 18 years. The Duke spends much of his time taking care of her.

The Prince broke the seal of the envelope and inside was a greeting card. Inside the card was a letter from the Duke of Hellertown, and inside the letter was a document bearing the seal of the Bank of Hellertown, bearing the Prince’s name and the Duke’s signature. In his letter, the Duke signified that the special document was to be used for the Prince’s journey to the Magic Kingdom.

The Prince was so happy to have some extra gold ducats to spend in the Magic Kingdom. The Prince then summoned the Magic Wizard Verizon to send words of thanks and love to the Duke and Duchess of Hellertown.
And so the Prince went about his work (yes, the Prince in this story works for a living) and lived the rest of his day as if it were Happily Ever After.:)

The End

:rotfl2:

A little tip for you then. If you ever end up in Hawaii, and the locals tell you to feed frozen peas to the fishes while you're snorkeling, DON'T DO IT!

I happen to think the resulting "feeding frenzy", with all the little fishy bodies swarming around you, is SO cool. My stepmother (who's never really been comfortable swimming with critters) on the other hand...was all :scared1: .

Yeah for money surprises in the mail!!
Seriously that jumping banana, who was the awesome person who came up with that?! lol

I think that would freak me out. I am happy for you to like it though.

Gosh I love a good fairy tale...especially when it involves a check in an envelope!! Yay Grandma! :thumbsup2

I was seriously not expecting it at all. However, this will explain my next post.

So, I—well—um—sorta—kinda went on a wee bit of a shopping spree. Internet+credit card=Lots of Disney Stuff.

I thought my small trading pin purchase would be enough to hold me over till my trip. I was mistaken. The power of Disney guerilla marketing unleashed itself on me and my wallet.

I decided that I had to be “23”. Well, so I purchased the charter member package, which lead to the charter silver airplane pin—and then I wanted something to wear to the parks, so that lead to the personalized Pima cotton golf shirt—well, I needed something to take said polo shirt to the World with—so that lead to the matched luggage set with the Mickey embroidery.

You see where this is going (or went). All the shopping DISers have been a bad influence on me.;)

I’ll post photos of the loot (or actually, I was the one who was lootedpirate: ) when it arrives.

A Change of Plans-leading to savings of many $$$

Since I live about 3 hours from the Colorado Springs Airport, and my flight leaves at 6:05am, and gets back at the end of my trip at 10:30pm, I am staying over at an airport hotel. Some of you might say-just get up really early and drive-or drive straight home when you get in. Well, Colorado mountain roads are actually very dangerous late at night and very early in the morning. Even in mid-April you can get a good snowstorm, icy roads, and there is always an animal hazard. I’ll be by myself, and even with every Disney CD imaginable blaring from the stereo, I can get very sleepy on the drive to the airport.

Which leads me to my point: I was originally going to do Park and Fly from the Holiday Inn at the Co. Springs Airport Holiday Inn. I had reservations and everything. But, the rooms were expensive. The P&F rate was within $25 of the Saturday night rate at POR. This is too expensive, even for a single guy with a good job and no kids. So, I went fishing around on Hotwire and I found rooms at the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express at the Airport (I got lucky) for more than $50 bucks off the rate I was going to pay—without the Park and Fly fee. Plus, when I booked my reservations for the Park and Fly, the Holiday Inn manager told me that the shuttle was not running early enough to take me to the airport to catch my flight, and I would have to take a cab-which I would have to pay for. So, after saving about $125 bucks with Hotwire (plus having to pay a smaller chunk in hotel tax percent and not having to pay cab fare to the airport)-I am O.K. with having to pay $42 for airport parking after all. Plus, I get to crash at Holiday Inn, and not Motel 6 (my old standby).

In other news-living in the sticks has its benefits. But one disadvantage is that it take packages forever to get here from far away. I can’t wait for my Disney Store booty gets here.pirate:

Good job saving money! I'm sure you will be to excited for Disney to really care where you sleep, as long as it isn't gross.
We also live about two hrs from a major airport.. and also go over rather curvy dark mountains. But I believe our hotel has a free shuttle! :cool1:
Can't wait to see all your Disney goods! Although then I might not be able to resist a little of my own shopping.. sticking on a budget rather sucks... :rotfl:

I will show my man-dork side now in regards to the shopping-in the words of the Star Trek Borg, "Resistance is futile".

Saving money is always a good thing! Congrats!

Can't wait for pics of the loot! :goodvibes

My first hunk of loot is supposed to arrive on Monday according to UPS. The Disney Store really breaks up your order into small pieces. I also have some big items, and some personalized ones. Plus, they send each piece of your
D23 pack separately. Anything I have saved on my hotels, is now gone to the corporate empire of Burbank, which is run by an aged rodent.::MickeyMo is :lmao:

There is some good news, which you will read in the next post...
