Pre-Trip Plans, WDW April 19-25, 2009, UD-4/18-So Kiss Me and Smile For Me...1DTG!!!!

I used the online check-in service this morning. At this time, I am ten days away from my trip.

Here is a description of what to expect:

1. I entered my reservation number and phone number on the “My Disney Vacation Page” under “Online Check in.

2. I clicked the arrow next to the phone number to continue.

3. Tinkerbell appeared and reminded me not to hit the back or refresh button during the operation.

4. An abbreviated version of my itinerary appeared with a link to the hotel website, and to my itinerary details.

5. Next, you are given the chance to enter a credit card number for incidentals. I was told I would not be charged until arrival. A $1.00 pending authorization showed up on my credit card website, presumably to show that the card is valid.

6. Then, edit your home address and travel phone number. I put in my cell number.

7. You then enter your estimated resort arrival time, and departure time. These are chosen in ½ hour intervals from pull down menus.

8. Next, you verify your guest list. If there are any errors, you must call 407.W-DISNEY or your travel agent for correction. You verify by clicking on little radio buttons.

9. Your special events are then listed.

10. Then its time for the INFAMOUS ROOM REQUEST. I clicked this button to check it out. For myself, I don’t really care as long as the room is clean. If I were the type (and I know you are out there) who insisted on a certain type of room, on a certain floor of a certain building, of a certain remodeling, with a certain view of a certain geographical feature, who would certainly argue with (or politely request of) a CM in order to get it--I would certainly not use the on line check-in service. {That’s certainly a lot to be certain of.}

The only thing you get to do for room request on the website (there is a link that looks like it may someday do something else) is request a fridge-for a charge, a trundle bed-if your hotel has them, or a pack and play.

11. You can then opt to enter your e-mail address for a copy of your on line check in document to be sent to you. I just printed the page when I was done. Disney has more info about me than the Fed’s do, and I was in the army and I’m on my 3rd passport (ha ha ha)--so if they need to find me, they can.

12. Legal Mumbo-Jumbo about being responsible about your room and credit card charges, and not being stupid at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Villas (not being stupid=“I will not feed animals, drop items into or attempt to enter any animal habitat. Violators may be subject to eviction.” At any rate, just check the box a and click submit.

13. You are all done.

You can check in to the resort online???? How cool! We will be there the same time as you... well a year later.. Subscribing to live through you!

Thank you for subscribing. The online check in service is new this year. I have heard little to nothing about it on these boards, so I vowed that when it was my turn, I would write a pretty long post about it.' Evidently, this speeds up check-in a little bit when you arrive. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

I am hoping to have trip report links from here upon my return, so stay tuned!:thumbsup2

First, the Bad News:

Well, I found out that my grandparents may not be able to meet me for dinner the Tuesday night I am at Disney. My grandmother just got a pacemaker and has fluid on her lung and a chest tube in. She says she is feeling fine, but I may not get to see them if she doesn't feel up to it. She is supposed to be out of the hospital tommorow or Sunday.

Now, the good news,

I am meeting an old friend from High School (and yes, we were in a Musical together, so all you teen-Disney fans, have a good laugh).:rotfl: at the Magic Kingdom on Saturday morning before I depart & they depart. They=her, her husband, and very cute 3-year-old daughter.

I hope Mammy gets better soon, but I don't want to push her, and may have to come back to FL at Christmastime to see her.

Oh, and BTW:

ONLY 9 DAYS TO GO!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Sorry to hear about your grandmother. :sad2: I hope she recovers quickly and you are still able to see her. Here's to a quick recovery! :wizard:

Single digits!!!!! :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

How fun that you are meeting up with your friend! Very cool! :thumbsup2

8 days till check-in at POR!! It's a packing bonanza around here!! :yay:

First thanks so much for the detailed and helpful check-in on-line post! I was wondering about that! :thumbsup2

And sorry to hear about the bad news, glad to hear about the good news!
I can't believe you are so close to being there! :cool1::banana: Sweetness!
Are you starting to lose sleep at night for excitement or does it not a(e?)ffect your sleep? I don't think I will sleep much the week before! :rolleyes1:laughing:

Hi, my DISer homeys, I am afraid my grandmother is still in the hospital, and with only about 7 days until we are scheduled for our Planet Hollywood dinner, the chances of us getting together are slimmer and slimmer. I pray she gets better and is not feeling too much pain.

O.K., Grandmother in the hospital or no, the trip must go on as planned, and she would want me to enjoy myself whether or not she and my grandfather could come up for a day to Orlando from Leesburg.

So, here is the latest:

I survived my Easter buffet at the hotel yesterday at the resort with minimal scrapes. Holidays in restaurants are always crazy.:headache:

Last night, I bought my pre-visit Photopass CD code. It is pretty easy to do. A lot of people enjoy this service, so I am hoping it works out for me.

Today, I have my first day off in over 2 weeks, so it is laundry, errands, and homework. Many of my friends and family mocked me for packing 3 weeks out, but now, as I come down the home stretch, I am soooo glad I did.

For today, I am going to the dry cleaners, and the grocery store, and possible the car wash. How fun.

I am going to try and watch a Disney movie tonight as a reward for getting all of my homework and chores done.

With only 5-1/2 days to go, I thought I would be to excited to sleep. In spirit, I am, in truth, I'm exhausted.

The beds at the POR are beckoning to me.:)

I know how that goes....some people just don't get it! Oh well....good for you! That is one less thing to do this week!

I'm on laundry duty today as well. :laundy: UGH...I really hate laundry! With 5 of us the hampers always seem to be full!

I like 5 1/2 days! It's going to fly by and we'll be at POR before we know it!

Watching for that PM! :)

What movie are you going to watch?
5 days?! wow!! :banana:
Did you get all your stuff done?
I have a very busy few weeks before my trip.. so maybe i should be wise like thou and pack now!
Maybe... :confused3

I ended up getting everything done but the car wash, and watching Family Guy before passing out on the couch. I have off on Thursday, so I'll clean the car out then. Pack now, I am so glad it is done. All I have to add is my dry cleaning and my wallet, and it is off to the airport.

:rolleyes:

Only 4 Days to GO!!!!!!!

:woohoo::dancer:party::dancer::woohoo:

Happy Disney Dance--I just founf out that I don't have to work tonight because my sous chef hates getting out of bed, and so I covered breakfast for him. Now he has to do dinner. Tonight and tommorow I am off, which means more time to get caught up w/ homework and chores, so there is more time for DISing later on. :banana::banana::banana:

Well, my grandmother (Mammy) just called me. She is being sprung from the hospital tommorow. With her doctor's permission she can now come to DD with me next week for supper at Planet Hollywood. Thanks to a disabled-access elevator at PH, we'll be able to go with minimal stress on her.

So, the plans are back on track after having been derailed for Tuesday.

And now, less than 4 days until I am back at the World after a 16 year absence (I checked my math on this and everything):teacher:

:dance3::dance3::dance3:

O.K.--after being woken up and told my breakfast cooks didn't show up for work I was really GRUMPY. I rectified that situation quickly. I am now back enjoying my day off.

After I shower and get dressed, I am off to church to rehearse for a concert I am in when I return-then a bite to eat, dry cleaning, wal-mart, homework, laundry, and cleaning the apartment.

I am determined not to come back to a filthy apartment after vacation.

I had a long talk with my Aunt Barb last night about Disney, and she is probably more excited than I to visit. We have agreed that they will pick me up at POR on the Friday of my trip at 10am. We are then going to drive over and park at one of the Epcot hotels (APH's, they do what they like), and walk through the international gateway for our Le Cellier Lunch ressie. After that, we can do what we want until Spirit of Aloha time.

So, now I have a more refined itinerary.

I am officially too excited to sleep!:)

AWESOME news about your grandmother. Looks like Planet Hollywood is a GO! :thumbsup2

Our plans overlap so much....beyond just the resort. We'll be at Epcot on Friday as well. And it's our World Showcase day so maybe we'll catch you on your way to lunch!

I HATE to come home to a messy house so I have also been focused on housecleaning...UGH!

Oh...it's getting so hard to wait!! :yay:

If I make it into the AIE show--I am going to try and find you to be my cheering section:cheer2:, because my family is not with me that day.:sad2:

My homework is caught up for the next two weeks and already e-mailed to my professor!:banana::banana::banana:

Also, I went to Wal-Mart, and decided I needed a fanny pack, which is better than a man-purse, but only slightly.

I decided my poncho from the luggage section of Wal-Mart was too big for the fanny pack, so I found 2 thinner ponchos in the camping section for 88cents each.

My Camera fits nicely into the fanny pack with the ponchos, as does my MP3 player and headphones :music: , so I am happy with it. The best part of the fanny pack...It fits around my waist, and there is still extra belt room to spare!:laughing::laughing::laughing:

I also got some bug repellant wipes while I was in the camping section. I am thinking it was a pretty good impulse buy.:idea:

Right now, I am DISing, running the dishwasher, and I need to switch a load of laundry:laundy: to the dryer.

Tommorow: Visit the bank, for one cannot go to Disney, or any other vacation without somehow involving a bank.

Make about 250 hazelnut Belgian dark chocolate truffles and about 10 pounds of chicken marsala for Saturday's tasting event.

Carwash & Vacuum out car, fill 'er up, LOAD THE SUITCASES IN THE CAR!!!:woohoo:

Hair cut appointment :scared1:

Wash the bedclothes, scrub the bathroom, give away what's left in the fridge.

Try to sleep.
