Has anyone had experience pre-selecting their seats on Air Canada? My husband and I are both tall he is 6'2 and I am 5'9 and would love to get aisle seats. I pre-selected his seats for his flight to San Antonio this weekend and it said it couldn't confirm selection but would try their best. I thought this would be nice to do for our trip to Orlando and I am wondering if you got the seat you selected or not?

Also I heard some of the flight restrictions on carry-on liquids have been relaxed in the last few days. Can someone confirm if you can bring bottled water on board?

see my post further down re liquids in Canada - restrictions are still in place, and flying to the US has not changed

AC will allow advance seat selection on some/most fares; elite members are allowed to preselect seats in the elite zone, including bulkhead and exit rows. This is no longer offered to Star Alliance Gold members, just AC elite members.

I've tried to be as clear as possible in this post re the liquid situation in Canada - please pay special attention to connections and destinations as this will determine how the new rules impact you

Canada partially lifts restrictions

Thanks for the link. It appears that since he is travelling to the States he still cannot bring bottled water on board.

That's correct. The only difference is that now he can buy a bottle and drink it before boarding, as opposed to having them pour drinks into a cup.

At YVR it was a challenge to find places that sold beverages in the past few weeks and many had long lines. There were quite a few temper trantrums from ppl trying to break into fridges to get bottles, or upset that their 500 ml drink didn't fit into the cup, and the server didn't give them two cups but tossed the rest.

At least this way one can get a drink w/o standing in long lines.

If you're flying Tango *on the return portion*, ie MCO-YYZ (or wherever) you cannot pre-select your seats 12 hours before your flight....

...unless you want to pay the $15 charge to do so.

If you've booked Tango Plus, or higher, you can pre-select.

HTH!!

we decided to pay the $15 per way for each of us (total $120) in order to have our seats preassigned. Since this is our first trip anywhere together with 2 small kids, we didn't want to leave it to chance as we wanted to have 1 entire row to ourselves and either my DH or I will sit on the aisle seat directly across.
