Pre-Order PhotoPass $99 Deal - Gone

I just called and got my code as well. When I first requested it, she told me that the information I received was incorrect, and it was a code being sent out randomly to guests. When I told her that my cousin just called and got the code, I pushed back and asked why could she get it and not me. After a moment or two on hold, she got my information and my code.

I love the term "Cast Member Roulette" so sad, yet true! :lmao:

Seriously though, why the heck wouldn't WDW send that code out to everyone to get them to buy the CD? I'd guess that less than half of those it got sent out to would actually use it, but 100% of the recipients would APPRECIATE getting it, and it would generate revenue for Photopass purchases. I don't get it :confused3

just called and they said no for a DVC Memeber. I complained that other folks have gotten it. They said there was a blog out there giving mis-information! They mentioned they had given away some this morning but were told to stop.

I just called and was denied as well. I asked to speak with a manager, but was told one was not available and someone would call me back. This is very disappointing. I hope the situation is resolved soon and DVC members are able to get the discount.

It makes no sense why they would even change this.

If you are buying the cd in advance, then why not get a discount? You have already decided you want it.

All the confusion and mess that has come about because of this is ridiculous!

My guess is that they are just going to go back to the way it was. They have taken something that works wonderfully and broken it. Time to get their butts in gear and fix it again.

Rob :)

The information Brad posted (not sure if it's in this thread or just the Theme Parks board thread specifically said for people staying ON-SITE -- so it is not currently being offered to DVC members staying off-site. Your post made it sound like you're not on-site? (the part I bolded). If you are on-site, within 45 days of your trip, and a DVC member -- you can call and ask for the discount as well. So if those things are true, I would call back and "thank you for playing Cast Member roulette!
Yes I have a 2 bedroom BLT MK view. The guy I spoke with was made aware of not only when I was going, but where I was staying. This is DVC not a "resort". Makes you wonder what exactly is the difference hey? And yes I am definitely going to call again when I am 45 days out. I'll keep is posted when I call.:sad2:

we're staying @ POR on FreeDP. I received email from Disney Destinations re planning & there was a link for photopass

it offers the $99.95 preorder for CD (which includes a 'free' personalized photopass card)

said offer came exactly 44 days prior to visit (as in after final payment date) & expires 1 day before our arrival.

note fine print does indicate:

Offer Eligibility: This offer is exclusively for recipients of "Magical Musts" email which is sent by Disney Destinations to Guests who have booked an upcoming stay at the Walt Disney World Resort, the offer is non-transferrable

btw, even when purchasing the preorder of CD, you are permitted to request a refund as long as you do so within 2 weeks after completion of your vacation as long as you don't use the 'credit' in your photopass account

Hmm.

We have a cash trip in December. I deleted that e-mail the other day! :rotfl2: I NEVER would have looked for a pre-order code by clicking that link.

I will be interested to see what they work out prior to our next trip on points, which will be in June.

don't feel bad, i would've cleared it out of emails too if i hadn't read this thread 1st:thumbsup2

ive never purchased it before, talked into it by DIL who tells me we can group all of our family's photopass cards taken during our vaction onto it:confused3

I got excited by the post in the other thread, too. However, as of 10:30 on Friday morning, it doesn't appear that this works any more.

I called three different times, and got the same answer every time -- not available to DVC members. I thought maybe I was just having a bad day on the Cast Member Roulette wheel and kept calling, but I started cycling through the same cast members. I asked to speak with a supervisor. He called me back about 20 minutes later and said the same thing -- not available to DVC members.

The first call, I was up front and said to the cast member, "I'm a DVC member staying on points, and understand this offer is now available to us." She shot me right down. "Not available to DVC at this time."

The second call, I didn't say anything about DVC. She asked me what resort I was staying at, and when I told her SSR, she asked if I was a DVC member staying on points. I told her I was, and got shot down again. "Not available to DVC members at this time."

Same thing on the 3rd call, and when I talked to the supervisor. The supervisor told me the discount is only available to people who book on the WDW web site or call 407-WDW-STAY.

Disappointed if we can't get it...:(

I was able to fish it out of my "deleted" folder, and there is indeed a code to get the CD for $99. But our trip is only 3.5 days. I am not buying the CD for such a short trip.

We have done the CD a few times. We usually go in on a CD with friends so it isn't quite as expensive. The pics simply are NOT that good, so I don't think it would EVER be worth $149.

I tried calling this morning and they wouldn't give me the discount. I am so disappointed. Our trip is only 37 days away.

This is really ridiculous!

I don't understand why they would take this away. Don't they WANT people to buy the cd?? I was more encouraged to buy it when i knew i could pre-order got the discount. I do not see why they would offer it to 'cash only' people.

We, as DVC members, definitely spend more in WDW on a yearly basis than the family that goes to WDW once over 5-10 years, so WE should be getting the discount - if anyone!

Now, i saw people who are DVC say they got the pre-order discount by calling DPP and giving their reservation number and now i see people being turned away. So which is it?

All I know is that they better come to their senses and fix this.

Rob :)

I think they will have to fix it and hopefully quick. I will be there in less than a month and was just getting ready to buy my Prepaid CD. Guess I will just have to keep checking back and see if I can catch a day when the answer is back to "yes" again.
:confused3

As individuals, you are correct, we spend more over the course of membership. However, it is very doubtful we spend as much "per room turn" as the occasional Disney visitor.

DVC has nothing to do with this perk, itis offered by what ever management group handles the Photo Passes, and it is up to them as to whom they offer it. Don't like it? Simply don't buy a Photopass.

While it doesn't hurt to make your feelings known to Disney/DVC, I wonder how many such discount requests (not just photopass, but overall) Disney receives from DVCers, it may be to the point where Disney thinks DVCers feel "entitled" to these perks, and they may feel DVCers are never satisfied...so they figure it is pointless to offer such perks.

We've seen threads here where DVCers feel "entitiled" to Photo Pass discounts, Park Ticket Discounts, free valet, DDP discounts, free use of privately operated spa facilities, and many other perks.

Thank you for saying this Chuck. I believe you're right.

My son worked with Disney on the college program. He was assigned to the exciting position of ticketing. The one thing he said all the CMs dreaded was the entitled attitude some AP holders gave the cast members. It was his job to smile and make everyone happy, but AP holders were the hardest to appease: even when he knew the rules, they thought they knew the rules better.

It sounds to me like DVC owners are becoming the same.

Now that said, I do appreciate the members here looking out for themselves as it cascades through and can help us all. (I also believe that there are times it may have the opposite effect. :headache:)

Are you kidding? We LOVE the Photopass! In fact, we took so many pictures last trip, they had to send us 10 CDs!

I am not trying to "complain" or feel I am "entitled", just voicing an opinion.

As i said earlier, we go down every year now, and you would think that some of these groups that deal with our "perks" would see and apprieciate that from all these loyal and happy DVCers.

Rob :)

I agree with not feeling entitled. I feel entitled to what my contract states (i.e. xx points at xx resort) and that's it. That doesn't mean I'm not disappointed if those staying on DVC points cannot pre-purchase the CD for the discount. We have gotten the Photopass CD for our last several trips and have always enjoyed it.

hmm i didn't see an actual code, just a link where i can pick which version i want, then it takes me to sign in on photopass site.

i didn't add it yet as im not sure of the timing:confused:...i'd like to have several weeks once we come home to edit the pics, etc. and thought i read u only have 30 days from date of purchase before it expires:confused3

Can you post which e-mail address this came from? I'd like to look in my folder (over 1000 e-mails) to see if I got it. I'd appreciate it!

OT to Keisha-last time I saw a post from you, you had no tags...been awhile I guess. Anyway, congratulations! I could NEVER figure out why you didn't have any tags with as long as you've been on the DIS
