My family is starting our trip in Tampa to stay several nights in Clearwater. We are renting a car for this part of our trip. When we get to Disney, we are staying at Art of Animation.

We will be traveling from Clearwater to Orlando on a Friday. We want to stop at SeaWorld this day. I'm assuming there might be some rush hour traffic when we leave Clearwater in the morning. How much traveling time should we allow from Clearwater to Orlando?

I would say some if it would depend on what part of Clearwater. We were there this morning on Clearwater Beach and left at 6:30 am and got to MCO at 8:30 am. Traffic was moderate through Tampa and most of I-4 We also made a quick coffee stop along the way. Cutting off to go to Disney I would say may take about 20 minutes or so off the total, I am not sure where the Seaworld exit is in relation to WDW though

We didn't have our kids with us, so that could have added another half hour for potty breaks :)

Seaworld is several exits north of WDW on I-4; it is exit 71 (Central FL Pkwy), while WDW is exit 65 (Osceola Pkwy) or exit 67 (Epcot Center Dr.)

I-4 traffic heading north from WDW into Orlando proper can be a nightmare at rush hour if there is a wreck. If there is an issue you can bail at World Center Drive and go up to Westwood via the south end of I-Drive, or bail at 435 and go left and then north on Palm Parkway and cross over I-4 at Central Fl. Pkwy.
