well MIL made a small turn around today. She asked for food, well candy, but the nurse said if that's what she wants then give it to her so Ray is off to Stop and Shop to buy candy, chocolate and soup.

Ray said she's still pretty weak and can't seem to stay awake for very long. We are still moving forward with making arrangements just so we are not blind sided. It feels morbid making plans but I need to feel prepared. After all this is over I'm sitting down with my parents to make them make plans.

On a good note, my Grandma is out of the hospital and on the road to recovery. She just needs to listen to the Dr about changing her anti seizure meds, she's been on the same thing for 60 years with no changes and hasn't had her blood tested in 3 years. Not good! We found her a new doctor too.

quick vent. Apparently MIL's roommate left and they took MIL's christmas cards that were pinned to the bulletin board. ERGH! some people.

the new roomie is complaining to everyone, especially about having a male nurse. He is the sweetest man there and has been so helpful to us.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. My DH and I have lost 3 parents and 3 grandparents and it is never easy. Even when you are trying to prepare.

I hope that things don't get too difficult and most of all that she is not in any pain or suffering at all.

I didn't have any problem with social security when my mom passed, they backed out the deposit. They did not prorate either, took it all back...just FYI.

As for the food stuff, whatever DUnc96 wanted we gave him. We had more issues with other family members than we had with drs or nurses about food...everyone's a critic. DH used to bring him milkshakes too, he loved them. And cake, it seemed the sweet taste was something he really enjoyed in the end. But, he wanted crab cakes and a beer one day and we were there with crab cakes and beer. We had the DRs blessings, and gave him sweets and anything else. The drs were saying at that point nothing we fed him would hurt him one way or the other.

The only advice I can really give, is try not to beat yourself up. Even with everything DH did for his DUnc96, he was still saying "if only I had..." and beating himself up. I did the same thing when my mom passed. I guess it's natural, but DH had to be my reminder, and I was his, that you really do as much as you can.

Well she did better last night, actually had a good conversation with DH too but today they said she buzzed to use the bathroom and by the time someone got to her she was catatonic again.
