Update 9/17....
Max is making small but significant improvements. He was able to walk on his own steam into a visiting room to see us today - that wasn't possible yesterday. His blood pressure has stabilized and he's no longer on any blood pressure medications. His kidney function is starting to improve, and his temperature is normal. He has, however, developed a heart arrhythmia which the vet said is not unexpected. She didn't seem too concerned about it, but she said it was something they are watching closely.
I really believe that all the prayers and good wishes are helping. He shouldn't be alive, but he is. I'm not taking anything away from the Doctors at AVS - they're doing an amazing job, but even they are dumbfounded that he's improving, especially considering all the other medical issues he has.
I'm holding my breath between every update (8am and 6pm daily). Unfortunately, we won't be able to visit him tomorrow because the vets office is closed to the public on Sundays, but Walter and I will be there first thing Monday morning. I'm hoping he continues to improve - I want nothing more than to be able to bring him home again.
Thanks again everyone for the support - it means the world to Walter and I (and to Max!!).
Pete
