Looks like I'm the only one here who doesn't feel the gulf-frontage outweighs the tightness of the sites. And that's ok.
Topsail Hill is much more our speed. If Topsail Hill sites were gulf-front, I'd be willing to pay dearly! But we've gotta have our privacy and shade.
For anyone who does go to Destin, make sure you rent a boat and go to Crab Island. Not an island at all, it's an experience unlike any other we've ever had.
I totally understand! I have some family who were with us last year who refused to go to Camp Gulf this year because of the difference in sites. My thing is that it's a 12 hour drive for us, and if I'm going to drive 12 hours to be on the beach then I want to be ON the beach, you know? If what I want is a pretty campsite then I can get that here in Northern Kentucky less than hour drive from my house in plenty, I am very close to some beautiful state parks in Indiana and Ohio. I think if I didn't have such a far drive to get there and if my kids weren't still so little, I'd probably prefer Topsail. It was a very pretty campground.
