PPP - What can we wear that's less than a full fledged costume?

My family will attend a PPP in early May. Only youngest DD5 is wanting to wear an actual costume but, of course, she wants us all to "dress up."

I am debating whether I should try to talk DD5 out of an actual princess dress. I think it would be nothing but trouble walking around all night in that get up. At the very least, I would bring something for her to change into.

DH, DD11 and I would be willing to wear a "lite" costume (like a hat), but we do not want to go all out. I am thinking about just doing the girls' hair in a fancy princess bun and having them wearing a tiara.

I was looking for others thoughts on the whole costume dillemma Did your DD actually want to stay in the princess dress all night? If they didn't dress up, were they sad about it once they saw the other little princess in their dresses? Any creative ideas for a lite costume?

Thanks. :goodvibes

I am trying to figure out the same thing for MNSSHP. Here are some of the ideas I came up with:

* princess t-shirt w/hair done and sparkly powder

* pj pals

* character t-shirt w/matching hat/face

* white t-shirts w/dalmation spots

* whatever the costume, make sure the shoes are comfortable!

Looking forward to seeing some ideas too!

DH and I each wore Pirate T-shirts and them some accessories from Party City, head scarf, bracelet etc.

When we were there in August I wore a tank top with sequins around the neckline and a long cotton skirt and a plastic tiara. It was cool and comfortable, but I still looked "dressed up".

I wore a princess tee shirt from the Disney store, DH had a Pirates tee and Mickey Mouse pirate head scarf with ears, DS wore a Mickey tee, pirate hat, pirate vest, eyepatch and sword. It worked well. We had a blast! (some people had AMAZING costumes on, but that just isn't our thing)

Here is is my son's outfit:

Count us in on this thread!! We are going to the P&PP on April 6th. Just ordered our tickets yesterday!! :) :) My oldest sons are big pirate fans, DS5 especially! He plans to wear his entire Pirates of the Carribbean outfit (with cloths on underneith) and DS8 will prob wear bits and pieces. DS18 months will just go with the flow and prob wear a skull & crossbones Tshirt, maybe a hat and he'll def want a sword of his own! DH will most likely NOT dress up - not his thing... Me being the only girl in our fam. suround by boys and overloads of testosterone, I will try to get in a little Princess time in if possible - it doesnthappen often, but I wouldnt trade it for the world!! Anyway - I have some green sparkely wings from Halloween, add a wand and some curly things in my hair and tinkerbel it is - part princess, part pirate (Peter Pan)!!?? :banana: :wizard: I think it could be so much funn and I am sure there will be lots of girls and boys in full Pirate and Princess Garb. Be as comfortable as you want and have lots of fun- and take lots of pictures!!! Make it MaGiCal!!princess:

This is also when we are going and DD is dressing up and I'm not sure what I'll wear. Possibly I'll find a pirate t-shirt or something while I'm there.

All of our kids dressed up in full costume. It wasn't a problem at all. Our DD had no problem with her princess dress. Just make sure it fits correctly so it is not dragging on the floor and you'll be fine!

I'm going to the party this friday and I made tshirts. My mom said she's more of a pirate than a princess so I got her a black tshirt and found an iron on skull and bones (just have to figure out what to write on her shirt). I also got her an eye patch and pirate bandana from iparty. For myself and mom's friend I did black tshirts with the word princess in rhinestones (another iron on) and painted on a crown above that, I'll probably add our names onto it too. I plan on making some sort of tiara and I just found a couple of light up wands at the dollar store this morning. Easy and fun semi-costumes!

My step daughter wore a Belle dress we bought at the Disney store. She didn't have any trouble wearing it all night.

I don't like to do all out costumes either! My SD REALLY wanted me to dress up though...so I wore a yellow knit skirt with a red tank layered under a blue tank...it was Snow White's day wear!!;) I also wore a red ribbon in my hair! LOTS of people knew who I was! It was fun. I was just in an easy knit skirt and a tank...but I was in princess wear too!!

My husband wore a pirate tee shirt and a baseball cap with Disneyworld across the top in "Pirate" motif!

Have fun with it!!:thumbsup2

My dd wore her Sleeping Beauty costume the entire party. I brought a change b/c I thought she would get sick of it but she didn't. DS wore his pirate costume. DH wore a pirate t-shirt. I coudl not find a princess t-shirt anywhere!!!

I took my girls to the PPP in Aug. 2007. While they did have a blast at the party, they were sad that they did not have any costumes on.

I have already purchased the E. Swan costume for the PPP on May 21st. We also have a Jasmine costume for the Akershus princess breakfast.

There were many kids dressed in costume and I was not aware that folks (even whole families) were dressed as pirates or princesses.

Hoping we have a blast in May!

I hope you don't mind if I steal, I mean borrow, your idea:rolleyes1 ! As soon as I read about it in your TR, I immediately went out and bought the tank tops and skirt, however, I will be wearing my wedding tiara---with two boys, it might never get used again.....and I am a princess after all:rotfl2: !!!

As a side note---Love your TR!
